  • Relative vs Absolute Risk Reduction

Rumble — Pfizer reported that its vaccine shows a 95% efficacy. That sounds like it protects you 95% of the time. But that's not what that number actually means. That is the relative risk reduction which does NOT tell you what your overall risk is reduced by vaccination. For that number, we need to look at absolute risk reduction. Time only 118 seconds of pure information!

It seems that the Salvation Army is not the only charity leaping on the anti-American, racist, vile, and divisive Critical Race Theory handcart. Goodwill has enthusiastically embraced this evil, hired a “Director of Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion,” and openly brags about its “antiracism” quest on its website and in press releases.

Ever since the "shot" became available in the government's COVID arsenal, there's been discussion and argument about whether it helps. Many people have developed so-called "breakthrough" cases of COVID-19, that is, they got the virus even though they'd been vaccinated. Others say the shots absolutely prevent damage. Now Bill Gates, a longtime vaccine activist although he's no doctor, has openly admitted the mRNA shots being used today don't help prevent transmission.

For some energy experts, the increase in donations for the officials at the close of the session looks like a reward for not passing more stringent regulations and raises questions about whether lawmakers let the oil, gas and the broader energy industry off easy for its massive failures.

Republic . The American republic is in grave danger. We have wandered far from the guiding principles that established our nation and preserved our way of life for more than two centuries. Because Texas was once a republic, its citizens have a unique perspective on the preciousness of independence and the sacrifices that secured our freedoms. We cherish this exceptional system of government and recognize the imminent threats that can destroy what our Founders called “the great experiment” known as the United States of America. For America to endure, every generation must safeguard our constitutional republic and representative democracy from...

The Touchstone Pistachio Company ran an audit earlier this month and discovered something wasn't right. The county's ag detectives jumped into action quickly locating a tractor trailer full of the missing nuts.

Gov. Greg Abbott said Tuesday he would sign legislation allowing Texans to carry handguns in public without a license, breaking his silence on a proposal that has been building unprecedented momentum in the Texas Legislature. "I support it, and I believe it should reach my desk, and we should have 'constitutional carry' in Texas," Abbott told North Texas radio host Rick Roberts.

The Texas House passed a strong Constitutional Carry bill (HB 1927) a week ago in a decisive 87-58 bipartisan vote. But instead of immediately moving HB 1927 forward in the Senate, Lt. Governor Patrick secured the votes Thursday to suspend the rules and file his own poison pill version of Constitutional Carry, SB 2224 – over a month past the filing deadline. SB 2224 is confusing and complicated. It creates profiling regulations that will burden law-abiding gun owners.

Please excuse the vanity post. Please encourage State Senator Kel Seliger (R-31), who represents the Texas Panhandle, to get on board and support HB-1927. The bill passed the house and now it needs to get support from state senators to bring it to the senate floor for a vote. Also, call Lt. Gov. Patrick and urge him to bring this bill forward.

Gizmodo reported: If you have an Amazon Ring smart doorbell, there’s something you should know. A growing number of fire and police departments are interested in your doorbell — or to be frank, in its camera footage — especially if they feel it can help them in their investigations. In fact, there are now 2,014 departments in the program from every U.S. state except Montana and Wyoming.[snip]...The program allows law enforcement officials to contact Ring users in a certain area and ask them to provide footage from their cameras that might be relevant to local investigations.

The New York Times explained how the government poured $18.5 billion into experimental, fast-tracked vaccines, leaving doctors with “woefully few” drugs to treat the sick. But the author neglected to explain why that happened. [snip]Lipkin told Maddow: “We are not investing as much in tried and true classical sort of methods, repurposing drugs and strategies that have already been shown to work. Most of our investment is in things which are sexy, new and patentable.”

Fact Sheet For more than a year, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has systematically prevented a transparent and thorough investigation of the COVID-19 pandemic’s origin, choosing instead to devote enormous resources to deceit and disinformation. Nearly two million people have died. Their families deserve to know the truth. Only through transparency can we learn what caused this pandemic and how to prevent the next one. The U.S. government does not know exactly where, when, or how the COVID-19 virus—known as SARS-CoV-2—was transmitted initially to humans. We have not determined whether the outbreak began through contact with infected animals or was...

SHAPIRO: What happened in the early 1980s that led to this consent decree? HASEN: Well, the Democrats accused the Republican National Committee of engaging in a number of activities which they said was voter suppression in violation of the Voting Rights Act and other civil rights laws. One thing the RNC was accused of was sending armed police officers off duty to polling places to patrol the polling places in minority areas. Rather than going to trial, the RNC agreed to settle the case, and it settled the case in what's called a consent decree, which means that the settlement...

In the early hours of November 4th, 2020, Democratic candidate Joe Biden received several major “vote spikes” that substantially — and decisively — improved his electoral position in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Georgia. Much skepticism and uncertainty surrounds these “vote spikes.” Critics point to suspicious vote counting practices, extreme differences between the two major candidates’ vote counts, and the timing of the vote updates, among other factors, to cast doubt on the legitimacy of some of these spikes. While data analysis cannot on its own demonstrate fraud or systemic issues, it can point us to statistically anomalous cases that invite further...
  • Ostracism

    Ancient History Encyclopedia ^ | 03/30/2016 | Mark Cartwright
Ostracism was a political process used in 5th-century BCE Athens whereby those individuals considered too powerful or dangerous to the city were exiled for 10 years by popular vote. Some of the greatest names in Greek history fell victim to the process, although, as the votes were often not personal but based on policies, many were able to resume politics after they had served the statuary 10 years away from their home city. Nevertheless, ostracism was the supreme example of the power of the ordinary people, the demos, to combat abuses of power in the Athenian democracy.
