  • Kristi Noem has ‘no shot’ as Trump’s VP pick after puppy-killing controversy: sources

100%. she is dead in the water

I had predicted Noem would get the VP slot to appeal suburban women voters. But suburban women are never going to wrap their minds around this story.

So I have to agree with you. Noem will not be the Vice President on the Republican ticket.

  • Philly lender Republic First Bancorp seized by feds in latest regional bank collapse

It just sounds like the feds are putting regional out of banks out of business and transferring the assets to favoured banks.

As near as I can tell someone came up with the bright idea of these banks buying long term treasuries. That under the accounting rules this would still count toward the amount of money they need to keep on hand. It gave them a small extra amount of profit somehow and everything seemed OK. This spread as a common practice at the regional banks.

Then when inflation hit and interest rates climbed those long term treasuries were worth half of what they were originally purchased for. Now if the customers don't need their money back, no big deal, you just wait out the 10 years and get all your money back. But if enough money starts leaving the bank and now you are forced to sell off those 10 year treasuries at present value you go bankrupt rather quickly.

Had these banks kept their reserves in a ladder of short term treasuries there wouldn't have been a problem. You can likely set up the cash flow to maximize getting your full amount of money out of the short terms.

I have never seen an article as to why this practice was so wide spread in the industry. I suspect the Fed needed buyers of the long term and convinced the regionals they would have their back.

The fed for a while was floating many of these regional banks by covering their long term exposure under the Bank Term Funding Program but that ended back in March 2024.

The kicker on this from what I have read is the FDIC doesn't have enough money to cover all the regional banks that will fail. That's why they are working out sales of assets to kick the can down the road so to speak. But as we saw with the deal the FDIC put together for Signature bank last year, New York Community Bank (the new owner of Signature's assets) is now having trouble.

  • 🚨 THIS MIGHT GET ME BANNED! Letitia James is a B****. Trump might not make Bond because of her

If all, or most, loans have been paid off, there are no, or few, liens.

That is true but in most real estate business current assets are usually leveraged to pay for the next project. So it's a constant cycle of taking out a mortgage then paying it off. Which would mean a good percentage of his properties have some bank on the hook.

There may be nothing for Trump to collect, if she follows through to seize property starting Monday. She would sell his properties for a dollar and leave him nothing.

I'm pretty sure the lien holder on the properties will have a big say in what the AG can and can't do. The lien holder will likely go to court to stop her. They aren't going to get paid and they don't want to take over the building.

Its all the Brussels’ EU oligarch Euro-trash “elites” scam to solidify a united Europe and crush national sovereignty.

    But....WTF do I know?

Hey you know that Brussels is the Capital, so to speak, of the EU. That's probably better than 80% of Americans.

The Elites think this type of rhetoric will get Americans to support NATO. Most Americans don't know/don't care about NATO and their lives wouldn't be changed one bit if NATO disappeared tomorrow.

But in the game of politics, the Dakota’s don’t push Trump over the top because a) he already has them and b) not enough electoral votes.

It really depends on what women from Wisconsin and Michigan think of Kristi Noem.

I likel Kari Lake but she is unproven. She has never run a large business nor been a governor, senator, or congressman. She is conservative enough. But I don't think she does anything for us being from the Southwest, when we need to pull in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Georgia.

Article is wrong on the person but right on the gender. Trump needs the women’s vote to beat the democratic machine. He has already started to peal some of that vote away. There is really only one choice of a conservative woman with the street creds for the base and a nationally recognized figure for the independents. That is Gov. Kristi Noem.

I like Gabbard as a person. But not as a Vice President. She would make a great cabinet official where she is following the principles of the commander and chief. But she is too liberal to be a safe choice for VP.

  • Real estate investor to 'immediately discontinue' working in NYC over Trump verdict, eyeing Florida, Texas

The commies sure have made a mess of things.

Even if this is overturned in Appellate court there will be fall out and the poor saps of NYC and NYS will be hardest hit.

    Prediction
NYC begs President Trump's sons to come back and invest in projects in NYC to show NYC is open for business. They will likely give them favorable loan guarantees and favorable tax discounts. All to show the rest of the investment community they have learned their lesson and will leave the business community alone.

When they ball went off the Lions defender and the 49ers receiver caught it, I knew it was over.

yeah I hate games decided by some fluke play.

In the old days that would have been called offensive pass interference since the defender was clearly on track with the ball and the offensive player threw him off when he bumped into him.

Mr. Bravery has stuck his finger in the wind and detected the tornado.

Yes but when an establishment RINO tells you it's time to pack it in, that's got to sting a little.

Haley, in her "concession" speech, came across to me as delusional at best and at worst completely controlled by big money types that want to hurt our chances in the general election.

The only good part is the longer she stays in the more she hurts her brand within the Republican Party. Perhaps we will never have to deal with her again if she keeps this up.

I see a genuine, warranted apology as a sign of strength.

I didn't remember it exactly as it is in the movie so I looked it up. In "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon" John Wayne states to a subordinate in the calvary:

"Never apologize, Mister, it's a sign of weakness"

I think it's a good philosophy in politics. Your political enemies will use it against you. If you've been a little heavy handed with an opponent there are ways to be conciliatory without using a formal apology. The adults in the room will know what you are doing. Your enemies will have a harder time brow beating you with your own words.

  • Hospital Diagnostic Errors Send Nearly 1-In-4 Patients To ICU, Study Finds

Epoch Times totally misread the study or are purposely misleading with the headline.

It should read 23% of ICU patients (or who died or both) had a diagnostic error.

There is a difference. The abstract doesn't say but say 250,000 patients had been in the hospital over the time they randomly selected the 2.4k patients who died or were sent to the ICU or both (estimated from the fact that most hospitals have about 10% ICU beds).
That would be 2.3% of patients will experience an error that will put them in the ICU or kill them or both.

This may all be true but with J Powell signaling interest rate cuts going into the election year it looks like they will prop up the market and let the crap hit the fan after the election is over.

It will take time for inflation to fire up again as the interest rates come down. Not that I believe 3% is a valid target for inflation (it should have been lower). They just don't care. If Biden wins and they take back congress they will put the screws to the American people anyway. If President Trump wins they will ratchet up interest rates and crash the economy so they can gain more seats in the congress during the midterm elections by blaming Republicans for the lousy economy.

The bright spot is that if President Trump wins I believe his policies will thwart their efforts to kill the economy. But there will be some pain in 2025 regardless who wins.

As far as call options are concerned there are probably a lot of investors with money in short term interest accounts that are taking risk capital to make sure they don't miss out on some short term stock market upside.
