JACKSON, Miss. — Two Mississippi lawmakers switched from Democrat to Republican on Thursday but said the new party affiliation won't change the way they vote because they've already been siding with the GOP on many issues. Reps. Margaret Rogers of New Albany and Russ Nowell of Louisville announced their switch Thursday during a news conference at the state Republican Party headquarters in Jackson. With the changes, there are now 53 Republicans and 68 Democrats in the state House of Representatives, with one vacant seat.

Anti gun Czar http://gunowners.org/a112910.htm Monday, November 29, 2010 It was not a good sign that Barack Obama kept his nominee to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives a secret until after the midterm election –- and then quickly announced that anti-gun zealot Andrew F. Traver would be named to fill the slot. After being blasted before November 2′s election by the liberal New York Times for failing to beef up the ATF by appointing a director –- for fear of the wrath of the “gun lobby” -– Obama gets right past the election and, presto chango, a...

The California boy who flew the U.S. flag on his bike, which was abruptly banned by his school, has since garnered national attention and very generous support. Now, the boy received an escort to school of around a hundred people to school. After they arrived, they recited the Pledge of Allegiance. The initial incident arose when the 13- year Cody Alicea was told to remove the American flag from his bike he’s been displaying for 2 months by Denair Middle School in California.

Denair, CA Middle School principle tells student to take US flag off of his bicycle to ease racial tensions. It appears that some ethnic groups objected to his flying the flag on his bicycle on Veteran's Day. At some point our nation needs to say, "Enough is enough!" If a nation's borders, laws, entitlements, and identity are not respected, is it, in fact, a nation?

The Environmental Protection Agency has denied a petition filed by environmental activists seeking to ban lead in ammunition, saying such regulation is beyond the agency's authority. The agency's decision, announced Friday shortly after FoxNews.com published its report on the issue, sided with hunters and fishermen who had argued that the such regulations weren't allowed under the Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976.

The Obama administration is seeking to make it easier for the FBI to compel companies to turn over records of an individual's Internet activity without a court order if agents deem the information relevant to a terrorism or intelligence investigation. The administration wants to add just four words -- "electronic communication transactional records" -- to a list of items that the law says the FBI may demand without a judge's approval. Government lawyers say this category of information includes the addresses to which an Internet user sends e-mail; the times and dates e-mail was sent and received; and possibly a...

MSNBC and talk radio host Ed Schultz delivered his address to the progressive congregation of bloggers at the Netroots Nation conference, and he had some strong words for the White House. Alluding to the Shirley Sherrod fiasco, Schultz quipped that the White House “must have a sissy room,” and that despite the fact that he “busted my ass for Obama,” the President visited Special Report with Bret Baier, “in my time slot.”.... But the sharpest attack was about President Obama himself, and it was, specifically, for never agreeing to be on The Ed Show: “I busted my ass for Obama....

The ship was buried as junk two centuries ago - landfill to expand a bustling little island of commerce called Manhattan. When it re-emerged this week, surrounded by skyscrapers, it was an instant treasure that popped up from the mud near ground zero. A 32-foot piece of the vessel was found in soil 20 feet under street level, amid noisy bulldozers excavating a parking garage for the future World Trade Center. Near the site of so many grim finds - Sept. 11 victims' remains, twisted steel - this discovery was as unexpected as it was thrilling. Historians say the ship,...

The Rocky Mountain Poll released Wednesday shows McCain leading former U.S. Rep. J.D. Hayworth 64 percent to 19 percent. Political newcomer Jim Deakin had 5 percent. LONDON (AFP) – A "big budget" porn film was shot inside a London hospital which hired out one of its unused wards in return for a substantial sum of money, a British lawmaker has revealed. The unnamed film, described by Conservative MP Penny Mordaunt as a "big budget" porn movie, was filmed in a hospital in the British capital several years ago. "When I was director of Kensington and Chelsea Council, I discovered that one of our local hospitals was hiring out one of its closed -- but fully-equipped wards -- to a film company to use as a film...

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton called John McCain yesterday to personally apologize and denounce comments an adviser of hers reportedly made slamming the GOP senator over his time in captivity in Vietnam. The move from one potential 2008 presidential candidate to another was sparked by a column in The New York Times, in which Maureen Dowd quoted an anonymous adviser talking about McCain's criticism of the Clintons over their North Korea position. The adviser said Team Clinton thought McCain was doing the White House's dirty work by criticizing the Clintons and ended up "looking similar to the way he did on...

The Chinese military shut down the Pentagon's computer network for more than a week during an unprecedented cyber attack, according to leaked reports of an internal investigation. China has flatly denied the allegation, dismissing it as a product of "Cold War" thinking. However, American officials claim the People's Liberation Army (PLA) has been implicated. One US official told the Financial Times that an internal investigation had revealed the exact provenance of the attack in June this year, believed to be the most successful cyber attack ever carried out on the Pentagon. The newspaper cited another source as saying there was...

Virginia Tech police on Tuesday morning identified Cho, 23, as the man whose body had been found in Norris Hall, site of the worst shooting spree in American history, lying next to two semi-automatic pistols. He apparently had scrawled the words "ISMAIL AX" on the inside of one arm, according to the Chicago Tribune, which may be a reference to the Islamic account of the Biblical sacrifice of Abraham.
