The incidents of birth defects at ANY AGE is rare. The idea of being irresponsible to have a child later in life is foolish and selfish. What would be better a quiet abortion? As a man who has had two children after 39 and hope to have at least one more with my wife, soon to be 39, and as the brother of TWO siblings born to my mother after the age of 42, I find your attitude repulsive and idiotic. !

No, what would be better is to not get pregnant in the first place. Regardless of your opinion, the risk for birth defects rises noticeably after 40, particularly for women. As for foolish and selfish, how selfish do you have to be to have a kid so late in life that you’ll have plenty of time to teach her to drive, since you’ll be retired? That you’ll have to catch the daybus from the “independent living center” to see your kid graduate from college?

People are more than able to raise children over the age of forty. besides the fact that IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS! Even with the higher risk, the risk is extremely low. Regardless, the fact is that a special needs child is certainly not the end of the World and is often a greater blessing than can be imagined.

As far as selfish is concerned, nothing is more selfish than choosing the one or two child family because you want the new BMW, bigger house in the burbs, and expensive vacations than the privilege of raising a responsible, tax paying, and stable future generation to help pay for not only my own future needs but for those of society as a whole.

The reason the country is in the trouble that it is is because all the wrong people are having all the children. We can not continue to leave the raising of large families to unwed, uneducated women in the ghetto. The middle and upper middle classes MUST have more children if our society is to survive and thrive.
