So the FDA has created 36 new designs for warnings about the dangers of smoking that will cover the top half of cigarette packs. It's all WAY over the top, but they did get really creative with them.

I went ahead and picked out, for lack of a better word, the top 5 designs. Guess which one is my favorite. :-)

I’ve seen #2. I’ve also seen people smoke while on oxygen (at which point I put a large distance between myself and them).

I’m a smoker and am getting sick and tired of being treated like a leper! I have not cost my insurance company 1 cent, in fact, I haven’t been to a doctor in 17 years! So, when are we going to see dead bodies from drunk drivers or sick livers?????
They have these in Europe, doesn’t do a thing, complete waste of money.
They have to pretend they are doing something though. If they were serious, they would ban them outright.
If they are so dang harmful to people and those around you, ban them already.
But make these nicotine replacement medicines eligible for a tax credit.
They aren’t going to, because it isn’t about your health, it is about them soaking you for money.
Waste of money. No one addicted to nicotine is going to give two hoots about some graphic photos.
I think these warnings are so obnoxious and fascist. Quite a bit is already done to warn people about the risks of smoking, if people are buying cigarettes after all the education out there (which is practically collective common sense at this point) these labels aren’t going to prevent them from lighting up, much less quitting.
I completely agree. It’s so stupid, these are the moral busybodies C.S. Lewis warned us about.

I like it, only thing is I can’t put it on my bumper sticker.
I’ve seen many here at FR support the anti-tobacco agenda. But I have noticed there are fewer lately on these kind of threads. Maybe they are finally getting it.
Most normal FReepers don’t object to people smoking per se. They just don’t like the smell.
All politics are local.
...and there is nothing more local than your nose.
It’s purely aesthetics for 99%.
