KU students ask admin. to 'intervene' after 'concerning' pro-Trump chalk appears on campus

•Students took to Twitter to express their outrage and concern after 'Trump 2016' appeared written in chalk on their campus.

•Staff of the school removed the chalking because it had not been pre-approved with the school.

The University of Kansas is investigating pro-Donald Trump chalk that appeared on campus sidewalks Tuesday morning.

KU students took to Twitter this week to express their outrage over the political speech, saying they are troubled that some of their classmates are Trump supporters, and even comparing the chalk messages to the confederate flag.

The university said that they would have allowed students to chalk had they applied for approval, but allegedly had staff remove the unapproved chalking the day it was discovered.

Former student senator Shegufta Huma, however, argued that approval from the University is less important than the message itself, tweeting a photo of one chalking with the caption, “Is this the post-racial paradise folks pretend exists?”

“The issue isn't whether a student chalked or if it was approved,” Huma tweeted later. “The issue is folks in the KU vicinity support a racist, sexist demagogue.”

Nor were the students mollified when the KU News service pointed out that the chalking may have been done by someone from outside the school community.

“@KUnews does it matter? The presence of support is on campus, and that's enough,” KU student Brittany Bodenheimer tweeted in reply. “Almost more concerning if it wasn't a Jayhawk.”

Some didn’t like the University’s response to Huma, who was one of the first to complain about the chalk on Twitter. Rock Chalk Invisible Hawks, the group behind last semester’s on-campus protests, which included the harassment of a charity fundraiser, tweeted that KU should have denounced the “Trump propaganda,” and instead was “defensive.” They also suggested in a separate tweet that KU should “intervene.”

Bodenheimer tweeted that KU “plays down student concerns” and just pretends to listen.

The University does have a clearly-stated policy requiring prior approval for chalking, saying that “all other chalking is subject to immediate removal and the individuals or groups responsible may be charged the cost of cleanup.”

This comes just a week after a similar incident occurred at Emory University, which caused the school’s student government to allocate funds to help support students traumatized by the chalk.

I think it's important not to fall for the idea that these students actually feel this way. They are trained community organizers form the various Soros and OFA type groups merely tweeting and screaming what they are told to tweet and scream, straight from their leaderships' mouths.

The purpose is to stop speech, threaten those who speak freely, not to have their feelings stroked. Some of the borderline mentally ill and those looking to belong will join along sincerely because that's what they do, but they are only pretending to be hurt to be part of the group, this stuff is straight out of propaganda 101, and it's all a show.

In fact, the students who set this stuff off are not wimps, but cold, calculated unfeeling propagandists seeking power and to move up within the left leadership. They should be interpreted as insincere, infectious and corrosive scum, not wimps.

It makes it more understandable why employers these days review an applicant’s social media before hiring, doesn’t it ?

It used to be enough to look at transcripts and a short interview to make sure they weren’t nutjobs, but now that they brag about their stupidity on social media they can’t fake their way through an interview anymore.

The frustrating thing is that these kids will be a burden on taxpayers for the rest of their lives, as their history on social media effectively makes them unemployable.

I thought guerrilla marketing was all the rage for millennials. I guess bouncing it back on them makes their heads explode.

I love how libs de facto think everything is their domain, and dare not anyone challenge their view. Libs are rampant on campus, on the net. They have no problem spouting off political glib comments, as if everyone will naturally agree and overlook their glib comments. Take for granted that their view is a given, and they will not go challenged or “attacked”. Can be completely apolitical arena, but they can make their little political barbs as matter of course. God forbid someone counters them.

You make excellent points.

I would be setting off these kooks like crazy if I was in college now. I would make it my goal to make them scream and cry every day. I would not be able to stop myself. : )

Originally, this was an intimidation tactic used on campuses by homosexual activists. Interesting to see it turned around like this.

My father got yanked out of high school in 1945. He turned 18 in January. He had 4 brothers in the service already, one was a POW in Germany. His mother died in 1943 and no one was able to come back for the funeral. He was on Okinawa when plans were being drawn up to invade Japan. God bless Harry Truman. These a-hole today cry for a safe zone. Will they ever become adults?

P.S. My father raised a family with 5 kids without a high school diploma. He was much smarter than the people that graduate high school today.

We need a seven day waiting period to buy chalk. I plan on carrying a piece everywhere now as part of EDC. Great for emergencies and probably works on snowflakes like garlic works on vampires.
