Why Is the US Military Rationing Meals? They Have a $770 Billion Budget. What’s Going On?

The US Military is rationing food on at least one huge aircraft carrier. Why is this happening? Doesn’t the military receive hundreds of billions of dollars each year? Where is the money going?

This Memorial week we received information that the men and women on US aircraft carrier, the USS Harry Truman, are receiving food rations. This makes no sense.

The USS Harry Truman is not at war. It is not in harm’s way. It is in the Mediterranean Sea near the conflict in Ukraine but not in the Black Sea.

Around 5,000 personnel are on board this huge carrier. Reports are coming out that the ship is rationing food. Why is our military doing this? It makes no sense. They are only receiving two meals a day.

If this is true, Biden needs to go. There's no sense in putting our troops on food rationing.

The problem is not too little food but too many crew members?

Just trying to imagine how liberals see the situation.

I read it on the internet, so it must be true.

Zero source for the claim.

I read this as the global food supply situation being much, much worse than we know.

That’s why they are called “rations”.

Their solution would involve the carrier and crew to be sunk and no replacements.

5000 or so guaranteed dead voters.

Like most "food shortages" the issue is likely associated, not with a lack of food, but getting that food to the people who need it.

In other words: supply chain issues.

They just had a port visit to Naples 5/10/2022. I find this hard to believe as they had easy access to resupply.

Just floating this as an idea; the military sees future food shortages as a legitimate crisis, and when it involves the military, as a national security threat.

If they are already rationing, what does that say?
Aside from hopefully being pro-active in planning, why wouldn’t we be treating our domestic food supply as a matter of national security proactive all the way to its source (farming, harvesting, transportation)?

Perhaps they are, but the administration will barely give any credence to a food crisis, at least above board. Are they hoping to stave off the PR nightmare all the way to November?

Where is it going? They have to send weapons to Ukraine in addition to the standard grift. If Ukraine falls, everyone will know of the US politicians shenanigans. Can’t have that!

Local supply chains? I could see where things like fresh fruits and veggies might be disrupted. The military often buys food stores when they pull into ports. Much cheaper that transporting it from the states while deployed, and fresher as well.

But two meals per day vs three? That doesn’t make sense. Maybe things have changed but when I was carrier deployed, the mess halls were open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and mid-rats. And it wasn’t like you needed a meal card to get in line.

This is one of those crappy clickbait GP stories that obviously is lacking context and details. Anyone who has served aboard ship in a position of responsibility knows that.

The Navy doesn't just cut to two meals a day absent something like an emergency issue with one of mess decks. And whatever it is, it won't last.

This article brings back memories of ration cards for booze (overseas).

If you could get any.

Probably because Biden and crew are waylaying food to give to Ukraine.
