Iceland volcano from Space: The Dramatic Ash Plume Engulfing Britain and 'Nightmarish Face' Seen From Above [Pics in URL] CLAIRE BATES 16th April 2010

Created deep in the volcanic bowels of Iceland, this is the dramatic plume of ash engulfing the UK as seen from space. The hazy cloud spewing from the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano was captured by the Modis instrument on board Nasa's Terra and Aqua satellites, which view the entire Earth's surface once every two days. Modis was designed to respond rapidly so it can track natural disasters such as floods and forest fires in near real time.

The plume from the Icelandic volcano - seen as a grey-brown streak drifting across the middle of the image - is visible from space. It was imaged by the Modis instruments on two Nasa satellites as it blew towards the Shetland Islands In this natural-colour image taken yesterday, we can see the volcanic plume moving south-easterly from southern Iceland. It blows past the Faroe Islands and arcs slightly towards the north near the Shetland Islands. The tan hue indicates a fairly high ash content.

The spread of volcanic ash prompted authorities in the UK, Ireland, France, and Scandinavia to close airspace over their countries. The airspace closure had a ripple effect, disrupting flights all over the world. Unlike the soft, fluffy material that results from burned vegetation, volcanic ash consists of tiny jagged particles of rock. (snip)

It is not known how long the airspace closures will last because it depends on how long the volcano continues to erupt as well as wind direction. The scream: A radar image shows the crater of Eyjafjallajokull in southeast Iceland, which looks like the nightmarish face painted by Edvard Munch

Icelandic news story laughing at the pronunciation of the name. There’s a video at the link with the correct pronunciation and humorous media attempts to say it.

Yes, know about that, but the trains are fully booked for over a week and no hire cars to be had to get there. . .unless you wish to hire a limo for the trip.
Wire a couple thousand in Euros and I'll be glad to do it.
;-)
I've looked at everything, from airlines (flights from other countries), cruise ships and freighter/container ships, train and cars, but with hundreds of thousands trapped in the UK, it is one huge traffic jam.

I'm in the club until Thursday, maybe longer if I need it. Also have a room at RAF Mildenhall if need be, starting Thursday.

Surreal. . .

I’m totally convinced that some of us will be

“traveling in The Spirit”

as Philip did after baptizing the Ethiopian Eunuch.

I don’t think we’ve quite arrived at that time, yet, though.

I don’t know if you’ve checked local yacht clubs. It may be that there are connections with some pretty big yachts plying the Atlantic or else down to Greece or somewhere that a flight could be taken from. That might be the case particularly through British military officers or the like who’d know someone who . . .

It might also be the case that some crazy blokes with old piston engined craft with excellent air filtration and/or flying low enough might be able to fly you to Southern Spain or Italy or Greece or Morroco or some such.

Or even the Canary Islands.

God be with you regardless.

Please keep me posted.

Prayers and hugs.

At least surgical masks—the kind docs & dentists wear—could be quite IMPORTANT

QUITE IMPORTANT—regardless of how little ash is in the air.

ANY is very hazardous.

They are microscopic shards of glass.

If nothing else, go to the local LOEWS/HOME DEPO type place—I forget what it’s called there—and get some painter’s masks.

I’m not kidding.

I survived Mt St Helens in Spokane where it got dark as night at midday. We stayed in well sealed homes until I forget—rain or some such.

If there’s no painters masks available get as large a handkerchief or bandanna as you can—2-3 layers and wet the outer layer for between buildings etc.

This is NOT AN EXAGGERATED CONCERN HULKA. The damage is done whether you feel it immediately, or not. The scaring from the microscopic glass shards that ARE THE ASH can be very deadly. And even relatively minor inhilations can greatly reduce the quality of life.

INDEED.

Or maybe the Queen could get a clue and use all her powers and influence to change some bureaucratic skulls at least about enforcement.

Maybe something could happen on that score within a few years.

LOL.

Sigh.

That is truly awful.

I hate to be the bearer of even worse news but it just might get worse. If you have read the following then you already know what may be to come:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1266403/Iceland-volcano-space-The-dramatic-ash-plume-engulfing-Britain-seen-above.html#ixzz0lOxUZ5zi

“Eyjafjallajökull is a stratovolcano composed of alternating layers of ash, lava, and rocks ejected by earlier eruptions. This volcano rises to a height of 5,466ft above sea level. It began erupting for the first time in 190 years on March 20, 2010.”

“The eruption opened a 2,000ft fissure, and also produced lava fountains that built several hills of bubble-filled lava rocks, called scoria, along the vent.”

“Experts fear that the current eruption could trigger a much larger explosion of nearby Mount Katla.”

[The oft mentioned sister volcano. Bigger volcano, smaller name.]

“Katla is described as ‘enormously powerful’, and because it lies under a glacier its eruption would cause a huge glacial outburst flood and could spread its shadow over a much larger area.”

Gives new meaning to the expression, “...when shit hits the fan!”

I lived in St. Helens, Oregon, when Mt.St.Helens erupted.

This ash gets into lungs, mixes with the mositure in your lung tissue and turns into cement. People die a terrible death from smothering.

Quix is right. Wear a mask.

I don’t have a lot of flexibility on that score.

I have 2 VERY DIFFERENT sources with info in the last week or so—one within the last 24 hours—that impact on that sort of issue.

AND BOTH ESSENTIALLY HAVE EMBARGOED much sharing at all and particularly via the net.

Maybe I can just say . . .

Prophetic and insider whistleblower sources have asserted for several years that the dollar was being deliberately destroyed. That an Amero or a world currency would replace it. Some have claimed that such would be managed by a startling bank holiday/closure for 5 days to 2 weeks. Some have said such was imminent—as in weeks to a few months. They’ve said that 2-3 times—which have come and gone.

Prophetic sources have asserted that famine is going to hit the USA—and the globe—desperately awful famine—partly engineered by the evil idiots at the top and partly exascerbated by ‘natural’ disasters.

The Christian and other prophetic sources are one thing.

The webbot predictive stuff is another type of such input. I think ATS

http://www.abovetopsecret.com

has some threads on the web bot software and it’s predictions and links to their sites. Maybe I can track that down . . .

Will have to get back to you on it . . . lots to sort through.

I guess the bottom line is . . .

The two sources I can’t disclose much specifics from assert rather convincingly that such ilk of stuff is very close at hand . . .

[yet again]

Only this time, I and so many others are feeling all manner of stuff “looming in the air.”

as well.
