Archaeologists today dubbed the discovery 'sensational', claiming it is one of the most significant historic footprint finds the country has seen... Mysterious footprints have been found in the area since the 1950s but the latest finds also shows that deer, six foot cattle and birds from the Bronze Age once roamed the area...
The first person to take an active role in studying the footprints was ex-Harrington Road resident Gordon Roberts back in 1989. Now 81-years-old, the former head of languages at Formby High, devised his own system of monitoring and tracking the prints by location... He said: "Formby prides itself on being a Viking village but from that aspect there are no visible remains. But of course that was only 1,000 years ago, some of the footprints recently found are over 6,000 years old and allow us to paint a truer picture of the past of Sefton's coast. They have found footprints from aurochs, a breed of cattle which is now extinct, but they would have been very ferocious and fearsome animals standing at six feet tall."
Andrew Brockbank, countryside manager for the National Trust, explained..: "Throughout different periods of history there were animals in Formby coming down to the water's edge and as the coastline was building, their footprints became locked in the sediments. But now the coastline is receding it is beginning to uncover some of the sediments and now you can clearly see some really amazing footprints."

More prehistoric human footprints have been found along a 4 km strip of coast between Formby and Ainsdale that date back some 5,000 years.

Bobby, I told you to put your sandals on or you’ll cut your foot on those sea shells.
But I thought the oceans were rising due to Global Warming?
Six foot cattle have a long and proud history.
So... if the Sea level is rising due to global warming, what exactly is happening in this picture?
I see you found the 5000 year old man.
His wife looks a little young.
bump
That is a beautiful assemblage.
I was expecting the usual long, glowing descriptions, and no photo, let alone such a fine one!
I also caught how 5-6,000 YA the coast was building, but is now (So obviously due to AGW & Rising Sea Levels that they didn’t even needs mention it!) RECEEDING!
Amazing how the beach gets FARTHER from the shore line as the current ocean levels RISE!
I see they found Jimmy Hoffa...or is that Judge Crater?
There exist areas of the world which had been weighed down by thick ice sheets during the past Ice Age, and are now experiencing geological uplift. England is one of those affected areas. Some places in England are subsiding while others are experiencing uplift.
Took off my flip flops- stepped on a pop top-
Thought to my self Theys commes outta th e lagoon at night when all th egood lads and lassies is asleep.
Sealevel isn’t rising — there has been no measurable rise since 1850.
However, parts of the Earth’s crust are going up (like the part under that beach), some are going down, some are staying the same.
Well, I’ve got different standards of beach beauty, but I grew up in western Michigan. :’)
Whew. That is one ugly sculpture.
LOL!
The problem is, a cold spell, or a sinking coastline is touted as “proof” of Alarmist Catastrophism, while any reversals, cold events/trends, etc. are dismissed as either “weather, not climate” or as unexplained/inexplicable “pauses”.
Truth partially is, as you stated, crustal rebound; also in play are other known geologic forces that have some coasts slowly rising (i.e. most of the western US) and others sinking, i.e. large expanses of the Eastern Seaboard. I suspect we'll learn of other, presently unknown, effects as well.
The real truth is that Liberals see Man as outside of, apart from, and larger than, “nature”; and as a primarily destructive force stronger than any and all natural processes, which must either be eradicated (ultra radicals), or severely restricted (most mainstream Libs). All of them, despite their worship at the feet of their Holy Darwin, wish to stop the processes of their Divine Evolution (or even roll them back slightly) to maintain or restore the Peak Of Evolutionary Perfection embodied in the moment of their own birth.
The REAL, real thing is that I mistook the direction of the 'receding'. The footprints are again getting closer to the water.
A beach without lumps of coal and/or agates is not worthy of the term beech! (Northern California & southern Oregon youth years)
