4 Quadrupole Magnetic Shift in Sun Mimics Mini Ice Ages
Mainichi News Japan ^ | 4/20/2012 | Mainichi News

Apparently, the magnetic shifts in the Sun mimic those that occurred during the mini-Ice Ages of the 17th century, reports the Japanese Astronomical society. They also claim that this is the reason for the "halting" in the progress of global warming. Basically the sun's magnetic field has shifted from a straight N-S configuration -

to a N-Equator Equator-S, 4 pole configuration

This supposedly occurred during the 17/18th century and was responsible for the mini Ice Age.

For the life of me I can never figure out how they know what happened 300 years ago when there were no instruments to record such events.

Even more amazing is the fact that they know exactly, down to the third decimal place, what the correction factor is for 200-300 year old recorded measurements, such as temperatures and tides/sea levels.

Using those correction factors, they can even prove that purported contemporary reports of the Thames flowing in winter are bogus: it was 2.795C too cold; it never thawed out year round until the Industrial Age created the beginnings of Global Warming. /sarc>

It’s a shame that we have to rely on the Japenese for real climate science, instead of these kooks who want to burn our houses down.

People observed things. And they wrote them down. These observations, such a water temps, air temps, sunspots, etc. can be used to infer relationships. It is not exact measurement, but cause and effect can be suggested.

So the sun is our “personal star” (according to the text at the site that you linked). How cute.

(Nice video, though.)

I think they used magnetic signatures of volcanic rocks created and dated to periods in the past. Of course, my recollection could be way off.

The scary thing about this oceanic carbon trap thing is that technology has reached a state where one can see these tings as possible in a fairly short period of time. When these fools find they can actually affect major phenomena of nature then we are probably looking at a real apocalypse to follow. It is like government finance men and supposed economists who think they can change economic laws with control and adjustments. All they can do in reality is destroy stuff. Results are never what they think they are working toward.

When man starts deliberately and seriously messing with Mother Nature then mankind's only hope for survival would be a collapse so profound that the technology becomes impossible before the planet becomes uninhabitable.

“When man starts deliberately and seriously messing with Mother Nature then mankind’s only hope for survival would be a collapse so profound that the technology becomes impossible before the planet becomes uninhabitable.”

But the earth is flat, riding on the back of a huge turtle, earth is the center of the solar system, and the center of the universe, Ice age is coming, and now global warming. Our conclusions have been so accurate in the past... (sarc)

With this record you would think we would be a little more cautious than to tamper with the planet which has been doing just fine for a couple billion years now.

I use to think liberals just made up this stuff in order to enact socialism and redistribute wealth, but I am coming to the conclusion that they are just wimpy, whiny, paranoid, testosterone starved cowards that can’t deal with reality so they have to look for their own unique non-religious apocalypse, in order to replace religion and any bigger meaning outside their narrow little narcissistic world.

Yes the world is going to fluctuate, and we may have a new mini-ice age, but why panic? Buy a snowboard and stop fearing life.

Thanks.

Whatever the sun is doing I wish it would hurry up and do it.

The democRATs have really let me down. they’ve promised all this global warming and it was 32 degrees (F) outside this morning.
