A $22 product designed to protect the most sacred of things when flying –- personal space -– led to an unscheduled landing in Chicago during a flight from Newark to Denver.

Two passengers aboard the diverted United Airlines flight got into a heated argument Sunday after a male passenger used the product, the Knee Defender, to prevent the woman in the row in front from reclining her seat.

The man, who was not identified, placed the Knee Defender’s brackets on his tray table attached to the back of the seat in front of him, 11B.

The female passenger seated in 11B became angry over not being able to recline her seat and reportedly threw a cup of water in the man’s face.

Sorry Mr. 12B, your space begins where my seat back stops, when in the reclined position.

Did the guy have his seat reclined?

If I had been there I would have applauded the woman when she doused him with water.

The guy is an asshole and the cabin crew should have ordered him to remove that contraption.

And Miss 11B’s stronger position was forfeited when she moved the conflict from Mr. 12B and the stewardess to Mr. 12B and Miss 11B, with Miss 11B throwing the water.

Reclining one’s seat on a daytime flight of less than 6 hrs duration is rude. Hope the lady gets criminally charged for assaulting the guy.

This is why liberals support Islam because it would stop arguments like this by having the woman removed from the plane and stoned to death.

The first three posters here must be short people. If you are over six feet tall like I am, a reclining seat in front of you on an airliner is murder to your knees and makes for a very uncomfortable flight, that I paid good money for. One of many reasons that I will never fly again.

Anyone who reclines their seat more than a couple of inches should be thrown off the plane while it is in flight.

Seats on planes with no legroom should not recline. Period!

I’m surprised the airlines haven’t started charging passengers to recline their seats, heck they make you pay for everything else.

“Anyone who reclines their seat more than a couple of inches should be thrown off the plane while it is in flight.”

Why are the seats made so that they can recline? Hmmmm? Because people recline them. That’s why. Go after the airplane industry for not coming up with a better way to recline seats, or so they leave more space between rows of seats. This woman was doing exactly what she, in a free society, was entitled to do. The man behind her was gaming the system. He should have been kicked off alone, not her.

You shouldn’t interfere with the person in front of you, that’s just being a douchebag and the airlines should not allow it

I used to love commercial air travel. Few things give me a visceral rush like tens of thousands of pounds of controlled thrust provided by a Rolls-Royce or General Electric turbofan engine off the runway. Now I absolutely detest it. Treated like a goddammed criminal, felt-up, and loaded on a tube like freight.

There ya go, 50 cents to recline and another 50 cents for vibrator seat for 5 minutes, aka 1950’s-60’s motels on route 66. A buck a seat x 200 seats x 2,000 flights a day x 365 days a year and you are talking real money.

Shadup, don’t give them any ideas!!

like the old saying that where you stand on an issue depends on where you sit, this one may depend on how tall you are.

Since someone jacking their seat back hurts my beat up knees and precludes getting any work done, I am with the knee defender dude.

“Reclining one’s seat on a daytime flight of less than 6 hrs duration is rude”

If that’s the case, then why is reclining on a 7 hour flight any less rude?

I just wish people who are 5’2” would realize and that some of the other people who fly are 6’2”. There is nothing fun about having your legs cramping because the seat back in front of you is smashing your knees and you cannot move them around at all.
