Jack the Ripper unmasked
Mail Online ^ | 9/6/2014 | Russell Edwards

It is the greatest murder mystery of all time, a puzzle that has perplexed criminologists for more than a century and spawned books, films and myriad theories ranging from the plausible to the utterly bizarre.

But now, thanks to modern forensic science, The Mail on Sunday can exclusively reveal the true identity of Jack the Ripper, the serial killer responsible for at least five grisly murders in Whitechapel in East London during the autumn of 1888.

DNA evidence has now shown beyond reasonable doubt which one of six key suspects commonly cited in connection with the Ripper’s reign of terror was the actual killer – and we reveal his identity.

I forgot Warner was in The Omen.

I loved him as Evil in “time Bandits”

That one one weird movie, fun, but weird.

Blame the Jew...here we go again.

Just kidding--when I researched this about 5 years ago, I was convinced it was this guy.

Laz is a harmless little fuzzball. He’s never hit on me.

That's because you won't shave off that little mustache you have.

If the victim was a prostitute how can they be sure that the DNA found on her shawl was the Ripper’s and not someone else?

Really cool science involved. Explained very well in the article, too.

Today, Alan Rickman gets the parts that John Warner would’ve got in the past.

I think the story is speculation. Just another fun conspiracy theory about the Ripper to kick around.

Laz doesn't discriminate against women with mustaches, so I don't think that's it.

However, Laz and I both have very scratchy five o'clock shadows, or so said the Louisiana Tech coed who sold us pecan logs at that Stuckey's.

It’s all about an upcoming book, and perhaps an attempt at a movie deal.

And Toonces is a Yank!

How about a British version of Toonces,, with a tiny carriage and a couple of rodents to act as horses. Some of the rats in NTC are larger than any cats I’ve had.

I’ know kitty got claws, that could account for the knife work.

‘’And Toonces is a Yank!’’<< Great Scot old boy, right you are! On my soul I could scarce believe a good English cat would be capable of such hideous murders. What a frightful thought. I say, it might have been a Polish cat. A companion of this wretched Kominski perhaps, dirty foreigners.

I think that is what is fascinating about Jack the Ripper. I have several books on him, and wrote a paper on him in Grad School. (My conclusion was Druitt, but I threw in Tiddlles as a laugh).

Heck, I’ve even seen.a book on Jill the Ripper.

Most of the Ripper theories can be discounted, some gain traction, and after a while, fall out of style. When I was in grad school, my professor was convinced it was Dr. Gull, and/or the Duke of Clarence, despite the fact Clarence was in Scotland during one of the murders. I’ve heard a guy talk how it could be Tumblety because the murders stopped when he immigrated to the United States. I’ve even seen Lewis Carroll pop in as a suspect, recently,

The truth is we love a good mystery, and this is one heck of a good one. White chapel at that time was a crowded hell hole of all accounts. Jack London wrote of it n such detail he was physically ill from the stench. It’s not a surprise it gripped the nation, I am reminded of my youth of the Summer of Sam. All we could talk about was the Son of Sam, afraid of when he would strike next. That was solved. Jack wasn’t and most likely never will. That’s why we keep reading about it fascinated, debating who did it.

Thank you all for a wonderful post, and great comments.

The way they described the DNA evidence .... Only family members would have matched the mitochondrial DNA passed down through female relatives.
Or is that not true?

No. An English cat could be guilty of such a deed. He would just be driving on the opposite side of the road, and his steering wheel is on the left.

The murders were on the wrong side of the road for a car with a steering wheel on the right hand side.

( I guess it could be a Jamaican kitty, pass the dutchie on the left hand side. Oh I’m silly today!)

I’m sorry, I meant to say an Englsih cat could NOT be guilty of such a deed.

Me bad.

Is that a five o’clock shadow in Eastern Standard Time or Pacific Standard Time? That three hour time difference could leave a guy hairy looking or clean shaven, I’m guessing. We’ll have to be putting the clocks back one hour pretty soon now so does that mean a five o’clock shadow will be a four o’clock shadow? I’m tellin’ ya, it’s a good thing I shave everyday or I wouldn’t know what freakin’ time it was!

The article suggests the shawl may have been given to her by the killer
