A 29-year-old terminal cancer sufferer who had previously spoken of her right to die has ended her own life surrounded by her family.

According to friends and family of Brittany Maynard, she passed away in her Portland, Oregon, home after her condition worsened and the tumor took over.

However she was able to choose to die before she lost her ability to function.

People.com said she wrote on Facebook : 'Goodbye to all my dear friends and family that I love.

'Today is the day I have chosen to pass away with dignity in the face of my terminal illness, this terrible brain cancer that has taken so much from me … but would have taken so much more.'

Well, okay, that was wrong of me, but she made a huge mistake no matter how I look at it.

Like all leftist euphemisms, a patient’s “right to die” is another sinister lie disguised in false nobility. Where it will inevitably lead is to the state’s right to kill.

Look VERY closely in those eyes and you’ll see sinister.

I thought she’d changed her mind a couple of days ago.
She must have had a sudden serious setback. Having watched my brother die from this disease, I can’t condemn her.
RIP

she wasn’t repentant

That's really the key. I mean, you could murder someone on a Monday, and by Wednesday, you could conceivably truly understand the sin you committed. You could repent. You could change your life. God forgives those who truly repent.

Kill yourself on a Monday? You don't get a chance to repent. It's over. God judges based on what you did and what you didn't do. And one thing you didn't do was repent. Not good for your soul.

Welcome to the Sensationalized Death Movement. It's mostly derived from the legal system, insurers, media, and the decline in the value of life and abandonment national morality. No, cancer isn't a painless death in any form. Neither was our Saviors death painless.

Sad to say from this will come encouraging assisted suicide for others as well even ones unable to defend themselves because someone else is inconvenienced or has other motives and speaks for them.

It is a horrible precedent, but she’s not the first, and won’t be the last. She’s just been the most vocal at this point. I pray for the salvation of her soul.

Committing suicide for the greater good will be encouraged more and more in the future.
This is morbid.

None of us can condemn her. Only God can do that.

are you sure it was her choice, on Thursday she said she changed her mind, maybe someone else hit the switch instead

That's what I'm wondering too.

Then again, the announcement Thursday could have been an attempt to keep the press at bay for the sake of her family. I'm guessing if she'd hadn't made that announcement there would have been satellite-truck gridlock in her neighborhood, turning it into a much larger circus than it already was.

I might have bought that if it wasn't all over the media right now

I really do wonder if she has some kind of Munchhausen Syndrome and for some reason, found it validating to have people cheer her on while she made a martyr of herself. She’s setting herself up as an example and making it seem hip. She had her ‘fun’ going to various places on her bucket list and after a ‘fun trip’ she’s decided to end up messing up her entire salvation. I mean, killing yourself after going on a series of fun trips?

Euthanasia is a nicer name for assisted suicide.

My father suffered with cancer for almost 3 years before he passed away almost a year ago. I know there were a lot of times when he wanted to give up. He didn’t because it wasn’t his time yet.

I am proud of my father for putting his trust in the Lord’s hands. I am so thankful for the time we did have together. My father passed with dignity.

It’s a sad story any way you look at it.

Oh yes; I am sure there are a lot of idealists who will gladly march lockstep to various facilities where helpless elderly wait in fear.
