Trump Stumbles But Voters Don't Count Him Out Yet (New YouGov Poll)
YouGov ^ | 2/6/2016

Posted on 02/06/2016 10:57:22 AM PST by conservativejoy

Once confident Donald Trump would win the nomination, Republicans are now split between three candidates

Last week Ted Cruz notched an unexpected victory in the Iowa Caucuses - and now voters have a very different view of Donald Trump's chances in the Republican primary, according to a new HuffPost/YouGov poll.

Importantly, voters are not ready to count Donald Trump out. Two-thirds of likely Republican primary voters describe his second-place finish in Iowa as more of a "temporary setback" than a sign of serious trouble for his campaign. 54% expect Trump to win the New Hampshire primary, where he remains ahead according to recent polls.

But when asked who is most likely to win the primary overall, only 27% of Republicans cite Trump, down 30 points from a poll conducted just days before caucus night. 29% now expect Marco Rubio to be the nominee, following the Florida senator's surprisingly strong finish in Iowa. Last week, only 9% thought Rubio was most likely to win. Expectations for Ted Cruz, at 24%, are slightly behind Rubio and Trump. No other candidate is higher than 2%.

I also think Rubio will also be the nominee, and the reason is the elitist, will never allow a true outsider, such as ‘Trump’ to make it. They will do everything possable to ensure he is not the nominee, and that may include assassination.

The McCain endorsement will come when Bush pulls the plug.

The Republican nominee result changes shows me that people have been waiting for the GOPe to select their candidate. Now that the donors have selected Rubio, his candidacy has become viable.

You are quite mistaken. Cruz clearly opposes any illegal path to citizenship, any one in the country without a visa is illegal. You want a pat to citizenship that Cruz would back? Leave, then apply like all the other KEGAL immigrants.

You cannot apply for a visa to enter from inside the country, it is made valid on ENTRY.

I dare you to look up Cruz on YouTube, and actually listen to him, instead of just repeat what others say he said.I suspect most Trump supporters have never actually listened to Cruz. Trump is on the Media, he is easy.

Isn’t that strange in itself? You are being spoonfed what to think, and protected from that Radical Cruz.

"One bizarre state’s blundered caucus does not make an election."

The corrupt media frustrates voters with intermediate voting results on election day in order to try to spook low-information voters to support the corrupt Washington cartel candidate. After all, nobody wants to vote for a perceived non-Washington cartel candidate ”loser.”

Sadly, low-information voters have never caught on to the idea that the only reason that ”all-powerful” federal government is so powerful is because of the 10th Amendment-protected state powers that it has stolen from the states with the help of low-information voters.

"Let not your heart be troubled..."

We're a long way from the Convention and a longer way before November!

There are going to be a lot of twists and turns before it is time to throw in the towel!

Polls, even if correct, and that's a big IF, are only a snapshot of time.

Take one hand, make a circle, rounding your fingers and meeting your thumb. Now with one eye, look through.

Whiteout moving, whether you are inside or outside, how much of a room or whatever is going on outside, can you see?

That's what view the outcome of the Primary or General elections is within our eyesight now!

By now, you gotta wonder.

*conservativejoy is on the make for Ted, wrestling with NO LINK to Cruz using the word DEPORT for anyone, except felons.

They do not care if fundamental transformation of our population happens as long as Cruz advances his classic case of climbing to power. No sale.

These zombies don’t understand legalese, if it jumped up and broke their front teeth.

Trump gets 7 delegates and Cruz gets 8 and this is viewed as a setback? You are kidding right.

Trump has already for two or three days. It’s Cruz that continues to act like Trump is the devil. Cruz is so unstable. He definitely is a sociopath. He is definitely socially inept. God Bless America if he is President. We would never recover with his authoritarian views and dictatorship.

It has made FR an unreadable mess. The same 4 articles can be posted 6 times a day. Some people post stuff from WEEKS ago.

It’s just people flinging articles at each other at this point.

“I dare you to look up Cruz on YouTube, and actually listen to him, instead of just repeat what others say he said”

I have listened to Cruz.

I’ve listened to him promote ‘legal status’, over and over.

Then there was all that deafening silence at the beginning of this campaign where he refused to talk about illegal immigration. I also heard him say ‘The American people don’t want to have that conversation.’ to explain why he wouldn’t talk about what to do with the illegals here. I found that condescending and completely wrong. He only came out with an immigration policy after noticing Trump was doing well with a conservative position. However, Cruz’s waiting so long is suspicious. Donors? Not his real position?

Would you like to know about what I’ve heard him say about H1B visas? No, probably not...

Only one candidate blames America’s economic troubles on the fact that wages — not minimum wages, not salaries, not benefits packages, but wages — are too high.

Donald Trump.

The day he seals the nomination if he ever does is the day you hear the liberal news media playing back his sound bites saying that.
