With less than four weeks until the special election and no sign that the party’s besieged nominee will exit the race, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and his top advisers are discussing the legal feasibility of asking appointed Sen. Luther Strange to resign from his seat in order to trigger a new special electionMcConnell aides express caution, saying they're uncertain whether such a move, one of several options being discussed, is even possible. Yet the talks underscore the despair among top Republicans over relinquishing a seat in deep-red Alabama, further diminishing their slim Senate majority.

Sure, she could appoint him (but probably wouldn’t). This special election actually doesn’t have to occur right now, just by November 2018. It was called early because of the nature of Strange’s appointment by the ex-Governor Bentley when Kay Ivey succeeded him. I don’t know the legality if they decided to cancel the December special and reschedule it for a year from now. If it appears that Moore is going to lose handily right before, I would (were I Governor) cancel the damn thing to keep from losing.

Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, and all of the other elected senators and congress persons have been unable to pass promised legislation such as health care repeal and tax reform in the months since Pres Trump took office. But they have found time to insert themselves into the Alabama election process which has become a daily fight to destroy Moore whatever the cost to the Republican party. McConnell should be at work in DC 24/7 as should all elected members of congress. Do what you were elected to do, which is mainly that which you promised to your voters who sent you to DC. This betrayal and support of democrat political bullying and character assassination of their own Republican candidate will be remembered by their ex voters.

Much of the GOP would LOVE to be in minority status, so they could get the bills passed that they WANT while telling their constituents there was nothing they could do to stop it...

have some fun, donate to the judge and when you next get a call or mailer from your state GOP tell them you gave THEIR money to Judge Moore, a candidate you support.

There are men who hit on women and get laid, where another man could hit on them and creep them out and still another that could hit on them and end up married with 3 children.

There are also games women play. Books on transactional analysis describe them.

This seems like a case where one bitter old lady remembered Roy Moore from he youth and was undoubtedly creeped out. But predatory behavior? Don’t think so. Sexual harassment? don’t’ think so.

I’m sure she went in with a blank page of a story, just having met him and being creeped out, then coached on everything else to say.

The tearful look set against her obviously freshly dyed and old lady permed hair was ridiculous standing there next to Gloria Allred.

I have one wish for gop conservatives. Take McConnell down. This is not the first time he’s torpedoed a GOP nominee.

Hey, I have a plan to really save the Alabama Senate seat for the GOP. You and all the other RINOs quit attacking more, and join him in saying the allegations against him are a bogus political agenda and not worthy of serious consideration. Then put the GOP money behind that and start BACKING your party’s candidate instead of working so hard to insure the Dim is elected instead.

So which is it McConnell? You really want to keep the seat in GOP hands, or you just want to defeat Moore any way you can and at any cost?

Any that appointed Senator will not be running in the election so his “term” ends the moment Judge Moore wins and is seated.

McConnell is a pathetic fool.

Some idiot hired a color-blind forger. I wish I could’ve been a fly on the wall to hear that freak-out over the mistake.

Yea, John Sherman Cooper, McC’s role model, had a voting record like a Democrat but insisted on labeling himself “R”.
