Why Humans Are Obsessed with Cats - We Love Cats and Kittens

In this eye opening and informative video we see how felines have taken over not only the Internet, but our homes, and of course, our lives. It points out that it is us that are obsessed with cats and not the other way round. This is a must see for any cat lover as it explains a lot about our relationship with cats and how that relationship has evolved.

Obsession sells copy!

The concept is bonded, attached, healthy dependency.

Now that my cat is old, she’s spending more time resting, just like old folks do. She used to be an avid hunter of hummingbirds, mice, rats and her favorite, those huge moths that come around in spring.

I deeply appreciate her extraordinary hearing, qua watchdog. Uncanny how cats hear people approaching long before human ears. Also, their ability to tune each ear directionally is helpful qua watchdog. Finally I wonder often how a cat can sit under a loud tv, and tune it out while still able to hear on another hearing channel??

Obviously I love with my pet, obsessed no, just enjoying the pleasure of her company.

We love our kitties here at the ranch. Down to seven now. We had 27 of them take over the main barn in 1994. Neighbor wouldn’t get his cat spayed. Cats came from all over the valley thinking his place was the Chicken Ranch cat brothel, or something like that. I made friends with his cat, snatched it, had it spayed along with all the others, and kept them secured between the house atrium, and the barn.

They took over our barn, ‘cause somebody I know, been married to for forty years kept feeding the little darlings up there. Got to the point I couldn’t work up there without being crawled upon, played with, or some other such nonsense.

Now the majority of the cats have all passed on, and the few left have their place secure in the atrium we are starting to get mice. SIIIIIIIIIIIIGH!

I’ve loved cats all my life. I seem to understand them and they are just great animals. I’ve had the most graceful, the smartest, the cutest, the dumbest, killer hunters, and such bad hunters they brought “fresh kills” to the doorstep like a baked potato half eaten in foil from a neighbor’s trash can, all kinds and I have loved them all.

We only have one beautiful senior lady here now. She is one of the least intelligent cats I’ve known but she is gorgeous and sweet. She will force-pet herself with your hand until you comply.

Our cat we lost 3 years ago tragically (because she ate some window cling gel decorations) was a purebred Balinese and so smart. She fetched toys, and she knew my son’s car and jumped up and raced to the door before he turned up the driveway. He wore her on his shoulder. Her one fault was chewing toys. It caused her to die so young, chewing on those fallen window clings.

We hadn't housed a cat for 35 years until 12/24/16 - while walking my pit bull Ruby, this little orange tabby came crying out of the woods and followed us home. He had been dumped since we are way out in the sticks - so I go to Walmart on Christmas Eve to buy cat stuff and the rest is history. Smitty and Ruby are pals and he is one heck of a cat.

The title is totally bogus.

“we love cats and kittens” implies that WE ALL LOVE CATS AND KITTENS

I hate cats personally, and know many other people do also.

If you were only half as big as you are and your cat was twice as big as he currently is, my money’s on the cat, not you cat lovers!

I live with five cats & their thinking ability is every bit on a level with a dog’s. They are smart & affectionate.

I used to have a cartoon I wish I could find now. It showed two people talking together & a room filled with cats wandering about. One person is saying to the other, “I really didn’t like cats, until I tried one. And then another one, & another, & another...”

If a cat is socialized from early on, as with almost any other animal, they will make the best companions on earth.

And really, why do cat haters insist on getting on cat threads & making snide comments. That’s a behavior I have trouble understanding.

I hope you like dogs.

Cats pee and poop in the house. My dog has the sense to go outside.

Agree.. any animal that shxts in your house, licks its azz and paws and walks on your counters and licks your face and lays in your lap is not something I want in my house.

I love kittens but hate any indoor cat. I respect outdoor cats and marvel at their ability to manage the vermin population around the houses in our area. Haven’t had a mouse or mole in years since several neighbors got outdoor cats and we all give them treats.
