Good (and bad) movies come and go, but some films garner such a fierce, loyal following that they reach cult status. People watch them over and over and over again. They host parties to watch them some more. Midnight showings at movie theaters draw incredible crowds, and oftentimes, fans "act out" the scenes in front of the screen.
Actors who happened to have been in cult movies enjoy lifetimes of stardom (to one extent or another) and can probably make a living signing autographs at events and Comic-Con ad nauseam.

One of my favorites along with the original BRAINDEAD (DEAD-ALIVE)and CEMETERY MAN.
I like weird shows but no “queer” stuff.

I second that. Outstanding film.
Carpenter also did some great work on the music for his movies.
I set thought MURDER BY DEATH. Thought it was crap at the end!
Maybe at the time it was released. In retrospect, Gen. Ripper was right about a lot of things (see, it wasn't satire after all!).

I can honestly say that's Roddy Piper's greatest performance ever.

John Carpenter’s “The Thing”
My benchmark for a good flick is that if you stumble across it being broadcast - or on cable, however you want to say it - you watch it no matter how many times you've seen it. All three of these fall into that category for me.
