Have nay of you taken Southwest Airlines from the US West Coast to Hawaii and if so how was it?
I noticed that. Probably due to peanut allergies.
I’ve never flown to Hawai’i but my experiences with Southwest have generally been good ones. It is “cattle car” airlines so there are few frills and probably no meal but I don’t get on a plane to eat. I flew Southwest from Houston to Costa Rica last year and it was just like normal except for the bilingual in-flight instructions.
I miss the days of hot-looking stewardesses. Every flight I’ve been on the last few years, the flight attendants are either gays or grannies.
My Bro-in-law is a pilot for SW. Seems like a good company.
I usually fly Alaska Air to Maui but they also have flights from San Diego to Honolulu. I like them better than Hawaiian and they usually have very good fares, less than SWA.
Did you layover in Hawaii? Seems we left from Travis AFB, but for some reason I think we came back into San Francisco. Lord that was a long time ago. I don’t even remember there being movies on the flights. SMH
I would have enjoyed it. I just got home from a long bus ride in Panama (approx 7 hours) and had to sit through 3-1/2 movies, all in Spanish:
1. "Overboard", starring Swoosie Kurtz and Eva Longoria. Not a bad film but the "working girl tricks billionaire into falling in love under false pretenses" script is tiresome and utterly predictable. Didn't Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell do this flick back in the 80s?
2. (didn't see title, possibly "Benchwarmers"). If you're a student of film, this encapsulates everything awful about modern filmmaking. Start with a loser who was once a baseball star until he took a fastball in the groin and now has urinary problems which everyone thinks is hilarious. He winds up coaching a softball team full of fellow losers with every frickin' minority group and gender identity represented (like that really happens) complete with a fat guy in a motorized scooter to represent the mobility-impaired. In the end, the coach has to pinch-hit and scores the winning run in the ninth which impresses the hot chick with the 100-mph fastball and they live happily ever after.
3. "Dora the Explorer and the Lost Ruins". This also stars Eva Longoria (see "Desperate Housewives" and add 15 years). Actually the best of the films but I could tell it was not made or marketed for the U.S. How could I know? The entire cast was Hispanic and they weren't constantly bumping into blacks, gays, asians, the mobility-impaired and the rest of the alphabet and grievance crowds. No doubt, a Hollywood rendition would have demanded more "diversity".
4. "Inside Man", a New York City bank heist with ruthless Germans (aka white people) as the thieves. The good guys are FBI agents - a not-my-type blonde chick and a smooth-talking black guy. I didn't get to see the end but I think I can make a very accurate prediction since Hollywood is nothing but formulaic crap these days.
So, yeah, 14 hours of peace (with some sleep) suits me just fine.
Actually, Allegiant has all new planes and they’ve improved substantially. We fly them all the time. They go to places no other airlines will go. I had issues with them in the past, but I like them now.
++++
That's United. AA only seats you in a circle and makes you discuss how many days since your last drink.
>Did you for get how to sleep?
Have you tried sleeping in coach lately?
****Its like flying in a bus with gay guys giving you tiny bags of peanuts..****
Now that is true comedy, when a person who seldom flies and has not experienced the described incident can’t breathe from laughing so hard. Thanks Popman. You’re not Corn Pop are ya?
I only fly on jets that have Business Class and First Class and I get to pick my seat.
Cattle car is not my thing.
Agree.
Easier to make the flight more comfortable- dont fly Southwest and only fly Business or First.
For sure! Very cool...
Try the Jolly Fats Weehawken from Hoboken to Hilo. Time of your life. Be sure to ask the stewardess to show you the in-flight cartoon.
Good one! Lol
Not to HI but i flew them from Vegas to Atlanta. Nice flight and they had a 4 item menu you could choose from for $5. I had the sub and it was pretty tasty.
That is asinine to refuse to serve peanuts which has more protein and more fats than carb filled snacks such as crackers & potato chips. Just place a warning about peanut allergies, like they do about cancer on cigarettes.
During my 5000 rounds of golf, eating peanuts was the best snack. It did not give me sugar high and then a fast downdraft of energy. The fats & protein in peanuts result in steady release of energy and avoid blood sugar spikes. On the golf course, walking 6 miles in fresh air, flatulence is the least of problems.
