Allah's Axis?
China's Middle East experts--led by Liu Yazhou, a Lieutenant General and Deputy Political Commissar in the People's Liberation Army Air Force--are apparently convinced that Iran is close to creating a new alliance in the Middle East that will unite Shiite and Sunni Muslims in an Islamist-led struggle against Israel and the United States. Grouping Shiite Iran with its Lebanese Shiite proxy, Hezbollah, the Sunni Palestinians and Syria and Shiite-controlled Iraq, the new anti-American axis, or bloc, would have widespread support throughout the region.
In China's view, the currents of power in the Middle East are about to change. Hezbollah's leader, Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, is fast emerging as a popular folk hero. His army's ability to hold out against Israel for more than two weeks is inspiring the proverbial Arab street--as well as Arab artists and intellectuals--in a manner not seen since Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser electrified the Middle East--and the Third World--by nationalizing the Suez Canal....

This suggests the US may have to finish the job.
....and for good reason.
Their time is almost up.
What I can't seem to understand, and maybe it's our own intel at work, is why we seem to be weaker(?) now that we have Iraq and Afgan under control. Spell me this.
Shiites and Sunnis can't get along for a long enough time to form any kind of strong alliance.
Somebody's going to have to finish it. If Nasrullah is becoming a hero to the "Arab street," it just shows you how stupid that street really is. And how vicious. At some point, somebody somewhere is going to have to simply make it so awful for them to follow nuts like Nasrullah that they won't even think of it.
I saw your map. I shall say no more.
Actually, when it comes to hating us, they seem to be allied just fine. Osama has even called on his rivals to join with him, and I think our reliance on the hatred of various Islamic factions for each other is very much mistaken. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, and all that.
Yes, indeed. I hope we've learned from the Marine deaths in Lebanon, some 20 years ago.
We should have done it then and we didn't. In fact, there were several other occasions when a fierce response would have been warranted, but we didn't respond at all, and this only encouraged them.
I'm no expert. I just found this interesting. Actually, the previous article is more interesting and alarming. It says Iran is escalating the conflict through Hezbollah and trying to drag Syria into the fighting while continuing secret work on nuclear weapons development. The Iranian regime is clearly a determined, vicious enemy that must be defeated. End Islamism before it ends us!
In Tokyo lost in in translation....
Russia and Putin also see this....
Russia and China know that the terrorism won't be directed towards them. The terrorists know that Russia and China don't play with kid gloves, unlike the west.
Good, maybe we can start doing this war correctly by not holding back.
I said before, I would be a terrible soldier and prosecuted for war crimes if I was fighting in the Mid East. If a bullet was shot at my group from a building or town the whole town would be bombed, burned, bulldozed and bleached with gasoline.
I the US and it's (so called) allies, are succesful in uniting anti-western feelings, we may have a new definition of world war 3 on our hands; btw, i voted for bush.
Oh come on dude, Nasrallah's "Army" is a bunch of murderers hiding behind civilians armed with a bunch of high tech rockets that they don't build. About any gang could hold out for 2 weeks.
As long as Condi doesn't pull the rug out from under them, Israel will eventually remind the Arab "street" why they don't put on uniforms and fight the IDF like men.
This "expert" needs to deliver the Kung Pao chicken ,and leave the analysis to real experts.
Don't forget the truth of the old adage: the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Differences have been put aside to promote the international terrorist jihad against the West.
The Chicoms follow a long Communist tradition of exploiting these sectarian and regional interest groups to serve as their proxies against their principal global opponents - us!
It's not even too far fetched to think of the Chicoms or North Koreans aiding and abetting Iran's nuclear quest. It's already been documented by the Israelis that some of Hezbollah's arsenal originated in China.
Iran has ALWAYS been the heart of this beast, and ALWAYS the main objective. Since 1979.
Their demise will happen overnight.
