The End of Snide Remarks Against Cold Fusion

PHYSICS ARTICLES DISCUSSION FORUM Fusion and the LHC (Large Hadron Collider)

Gravitonics article found HERE.

Located near Geneva, close to the border between Switzerland and France, the Large Hadron Collider is the largest particle accelerator in the world at a cost of about 9 billion dollars.

It is strange how we love to put all of our eggs in one basket. At the same time 9 billion was spent on the LHC, Dr Bussard could not find a few million for his fusion reactor. Don't get me wrong, the Physicists working at CERN are some of the best in the world and the reason I'm mentioning them is the analogy between the LHC and the TOKAMAK approach to fusion.

We've been promised fusion since the 50' and there is very little to show in terms of practical achievements. But we made the decision that the TOKAMAK is the way to go. How can we tell if the TOKAMAK path is the right one before it works? And what is a few millions more if it means following two avenues to fusion?

Dr Bussard talks at Google, Novemeber 9-th, 2006, see video. This presentation can be understood by anyone that has completed the Physics sequence in an engineering program or the equivalent.

I AM putting up. I don’t see you over at Intrade buying my 500 futures at $5.50 nor any other offers. If you’re so certain it’s junk science then it’s a giveaway. So YOU put up. Otherwise your words are as empty as your rhetoric.

Intrade is bar bets on the internet. If I do a bar bet it’s gonna be in a bar.

Put up by making it work. Not with some stupid bet, MAKE IT WORK.

You’re all talk. I can’t “make it work” because I don’t have the wherewithal. But I can give notice to doofus’s like you who need to be brought down a notch or two. If you’re so certain, then buy my contracts. Otherwise, your naysaying is just bandwagon jumping.

It means they’re all talk & no action. Talk is cheap, and they are even cheaper because they don’t put their money where their mouth is. Why should we listen to such people?

When doubters actually do put up, the interaction starts to become quite meaningful. Cold Fusion is emerging from the shadows and these naysayers are a bunch of whiners who don’t like it but they won’t put their own money down to back up their words. Soon they’ll all be retreating back under the rocks they came from.

You accidentally found the problem. So far nobody has the wherewithal. Many have tried, none have succeeded.

If you have the wherewithal to log onto FR and give people a ration of bovine feces, you have enough to put your money where your mouth is on this issue. If Dr. Arata’s experiment isn’t replicated then it’s free money for you, right?

Is mocking something for 20 years a bandwagon?
***Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. If answering the question is important to you then go & answer it. Mocking something that has been mocked for 20 years after someone says to put up or shut up IS jumping on a bandwagon. The free ride is over.

***There can’t be that many. If his experiment was as reproducible as he touted, then it wouldn’t be hard to find. The same contract was open last year and it closed at zero. So in a way, it’s also time for the cold fusion afficianados to put up or shut up as well. They’ve already been shut up from last year.

I haven’t given anybody a ration of bovine anything. I’m simply pointing out that if cold fusion actually worked it wouldn’t need some silly intrade bet to prove it. Intrade is stupid, people using intrade like it proves anything other than their own willingness to lay bets is silly. If you want to make bar bets with me let’s go find a bar and get the beer rolling and lay down some bets. But this whole tough guy routine because you’re willing to throw some money at the internet’s biggest fraud is kind of pathetic. If you REALLY want your money to do something useful for cold fusion INVEST IN IT.

I’ve been mocking cold fusion for the full 20 years. Just because I haven’t mocked it to you yet means nothing. Haven’t seen it discussed on FR until now. Cold fusion is a target of opportunity mock, I don’t go searching for it.

I haven’t given anybody a ration of bovine anything.
***Sure you are, right now.

I’m simply pointing out that if cold fusion actually worked it wouldn’t need some silly intrade bet to prove it.
***Then you wouldn’t have any trouble with putting your money where your mouth is... You can actually do something here to show your own sincerity and make money, but instead you choose to spread bovine fecal matter.

Intrade is stupid, people using intrade like it proves anything other than their own willingness to lay bets is silly.
***Intrade correctly called 49 out of 50 states in the last election, and had a similar score on the previous election. Their track record is far better than polling bozos in elections. I think Intrade is great because it generates cool data and it also gives you an opportunity to make money from fools like me. So, put up or shut up. Money talks and BullScatology walks.

If you want to make bar bets with me let’s go find a bar and get the beer rolling and lay down some bets.
***You don’t even have to leave your keyboard to engage in this bet. That beats bar bets by a mile. One could easily say, “Bar bets are for losers, bar bets are silly, bar bets are stupid.”

But this whole tough guy routine because you’re willing to throw some money at the internet’s biggest fraud is kind of pathetic. If you REALLY want your money to do something useful for cold fusion INVEST IN IT.
***I’d be happy to. Where can I put $500? In the meantime, why don’t you just snivel back behind the rock you came from and leave the serious discussion to those who put their money where their mouth is.

I’ve been mocking cold fusion for the full 20 years. Just because I haven’t mocked it to you yet means nothing.
***Then as of right now, you’re crossing the line. You either put up or shut up, and my guess is you’re gonna deliver some more snide remarks because that’s all ya got, and you are suddenly wondering to yourself about this bandwagon you jumped on 20 years ago.

Haven’t seen it discussed on FR until now. Cold fusion is a target of opportunity mock, I don’t go searching for it.
***Then go searching for other targets if you’re not gonna put your money where your mouth is. Run along now... shortpants.

There’s no bovine here, if cold fusion worked it would be one of the most profitable inventions in human history. So it wouldn’t need any intrade bets. That’s not boive, that’s REALITY.

I don’t need to make money on the lie of cold fusion. And I don’t do intrade. And even if I did do intrade I wouldn’t with a bullying whiner that thinks it proves anything. Maybe if you acted like a person that was worth talking to it would be different, but really read your posts, would YOU deal with you?! Nothing but insults and bullying. Why would any sane person want to enter into a situation with you where we had to communicate for the rest of the year?

Ah yes the old “wisdom of the masses on intrade” bull puckey, talk about slinging a ration of bovine feces, that one stinks in a dozen different ways. One of the biggest problems here is polls and science have ZERO to do with each other.

Get together with other true believers. $500 adds up fast. Go find the companies and go be an investor, or get job with them, or do something REAL to REALLY help them. Bullying people into bar bets doesn’t prove anything.

There is no line. Cold fusion has never worked, and will never work, and anybody that thinks otherwise is simply wrong, and no amount of intrade betting is going to change any of that. If there’s a bandwagoner here it’s the guy on the intrade bandwagon thinking anything useful has ever happened or will ever happen there.

I’ll post on whatever thread I want to, and if you don’t like it don’t make threads. You made this thread daring people to make a silly bar bet with you, I told you why nobody that knows how to tie their own shoe would be silly enough to do that, sorry if you don’t like that but it’s how open forums work.

***Just as I predicted, another snide remark from you rather than something substantive. What you’re saying looks like BS, smells like BS, rolls like BS, and attracts flies like BS, so it’s probably BS.

I don’t need to make money on the lie of cold fusion.
***So you’re just a freeper with a big mouth & nothing to back it up with.

And I don’t do intrade.
***Make that a big mouth wuss freeper. All hat, no cattle, but plenty of cow patties to sell.

And even if I did do intrade I wouldn’t with a bullying whiner that thinks it proves anything.
***Interesting combination, bullying whiner. Guys like you have been bullying the cold fusioneers for 20 years and now all you can do is whine. Methinks the lady doth protest too much.

Maybe if you acted like a person that was worth talking to it would be different, but really read your posts, would YOU deal with you?! Nothing but insults and bullying.
***Well, they’re not taking my money and they continue to spout all this bullstuff, so the free ride is over. Now you’re the one whining. Whine, whine, whine. Have you contributed anything to this thread?

Why would any sane person want to enter into a situation with you where we had to communicate for the rest of the year?
***What are you talking about? Just buy the contracts and take my money and when I’m wrong, gloat. Geez you’re a whiner.

Ah yes the old “wisdom of the masses on intrade” bull puckey, talk about slinging a ration of bovine feces, that one stinks in a dozen different ways.
***This is the best you’ve got? What a lightweight.

One of the biggest problems here is polls and science have ZERO to do with each other.
***How can I make money off polls? But I can make money off Intrade, and I can put my money where my mouth is, on candidates like Hunter and Palin.

Get together with other true believers. $500 adds up fast. Go find the companies and go be an investor, or get job with them, or do something REAL to REALLY help them.
***Maybe your $500 would be better spent on taking a writing class.

Bullying people into bar bets doesn’t prove anything.
***At the end of the day, there’s either money in my pocket or in yours. Last year the money was in the naysayers’ pockets. That proves something. This year it’s the same contract and we got wusses like you backtracking and running back under the rocks they came from. If I can’t make money off this then I at least get to have some fun with bandwagon joiners like you.

There is no line. Cold fusion has never worked, and will never work, and anybody that thinks otherwise is simply wrong,
***All talk, no action. I don’t see my contracts getting bought. Money talks and BS walks. You are completely full of BS and have been for these 20 years that you’ve been harrassing cold fusioneers.

and no amount of intrade betting is going to change any of that.
***Sure it will, if there’s money in my pocket at the end of the session. It’ll either be in mine or in the naysayers’ pockets. So put up or shut up, whiner.

If there’s a bandwagoner here it’s the guy on the intrade bandwagon thinking anything useful has ever happened or will ever happen there.
***Feel free to take my money. Let me check... nope, it’s still there. So you’re just all talk. Pathetic.

I’ll post on whatever thread I want to, and if you don’t like it don’t make threads.
***I don’t like it and I’ll continue to make threads and I will continue to point out your continued use of continual bovine scatology.

You made this thread daring people to make a silly bar bet with you, I told you why nobody that knows how to tie their own shoe would be silly enough to do that, sorry if you don’t like that but it’s how open forums work.
***Not only are you a whiner but you’re a wuss. I’m surprised anyone put up with your bogus baloney for 20 years. You puff up like a peacock but there’s nothing behind the facade.

There’s nothing snide about saying if cold fusion worked it would make money. That’s just simple reality. If it worked it would revolutionize the energy business, that would make money. If you think that’s snide you’re really just not equipped for these kind of discussions.

I’m backing it up, I’m still here explaining why you’re wrong.

I’m not bullying anybody. You’re the guy chanting “put up or shut up” I’m just pointing out that bar bets won’t help or settle science. And I’m definitely not whining, that sound you here is me holding back laughter.

I noticed they’re not taking your money, from what I can see on your links, and admittedly I’m not that good at reading intrade, it doesn’t look like anybody has been interested in taking your bet for about a year.

Lots of people make money on polls, just ask Scott Rasmusen. In the end that’s really what intrade is, especially when it comes to elections, it’s a poll bar bet, you find out how many people are willing to bet one candidate will win vs the other, that’s a poll, except that the group that’s right wins money. Which is actually an OK model for predicting elections. But cold fusion isn’t an election, it doesn’t matter how many people take which side of your cold fusion bet it doesn’t change the basic laws of physic cold fusion claims violate.

I’ve worked in start up companies, I know about making money on something I believe to be true. If you think cold fusion is real get out there and really help it come to pass.

At the end of the day it’s meaningless fluff. It’s still just a silly intrade bet and will have no impact on the world. If cold fusion works there’s much better ways to make money on it. And there’s much better ROIs on things I believe true than offered at intrade.

Yup nobody buys your contracts. Not me, not people that do intrade, nobody. There’s deep meaning here, but not what you want it to mean.

Funny how the guy doing all the insulting from behind the safety of a keyboard includes “wuss” in his list of insults. There always seems to be a 1::1 correlation between the people who say the kinds of things that would get you punched in person on the internet, and the people who everybody else is a wuss.

There’s nothing snide about saying if cold fusion worked it would make money.
***Sure there is, just like saying the same thing about hot fusion. Anyone generating electrodollars from that yet, hmmmm? After 30 years & $billions poured into it?

That’s just simple reality.
***And it gets no simpler than putting up or shutting up.

If it worked it would revolutionize the energy business, that would make money.
***If it didn’t work you and guys like you could take my money until the cows come home and deliver more of your favorite source of BS.

If you think that’s snide you’re really just not equipped for these kind of discussions.
***Sure I am. But you seem to have a soft underbelly.

I’m backing it up, I’m still here explaining why you’re wrong.
***Back it up with $, not BS. Take my money.

I’m not bullying anybody. You’re the guy chanting “put up or shut up”
***You appear, by your own words, to have been mocking cold fusioneers for 20 years. That means you have been bullying.

I’m just pointing out that bar bets won’t help or settle science.
***Perhaps it’s time for the famous quote from Thomas Khune
Thomas Kuhn (1922-1996), author of the enormously influential “Structure of Scientific Revolutions.” Basically, paradigm shifts in science only take place when the old guard scientists die off. Science is flawed like any other human endeavor. It’s characterized by the creation of paradigms which exist when someone comes up with a great way of explaining something. When flaws appear in that first discoverer’s fascade, the collective impulse on the part of the scientific community is to either ignore or minimalize the importance of the new evidence until enough scientists die off that the new generation can really appreciate the power of the new ideas in their own right. When this later process occurs science undergoes what’s refered to as a “paradigm shift.”
Kuhn rejects the traditional view that science is a linear accretion of knowledge. At a certain point in the life of the paradigm, anomalies begin to appear. At first they are rationalized, as the paradigm is stretched and patched up to account for them. But eventually the anomalies become too glaring. Someone then comes along and proposes a bold new paradigm that completely replaces the old one. For example, Einstein’s theory of relativity supplanting the former Newtonian system. Once the skeptics are defeated and the new paradigm is universally accepted, normal science resumes, but exclusively within the framework of the new paradigm.

And I’m definitely not whining, that sound you here is me holding back laughter.
***If it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, walks like a duck, and isn’t a goose, it’s probably a duck. You fit the whiner profile, and it looks like I predicted on post 19 at least one of you whiners would show up.

I noticed they’re not taking your money, from what I can see on your links, and admittedly I’m not that good at reading intrade, it doesn’t look like anybody has been interested in taking your bet for about a year.
***You are right about not being able to read the links. Last year it was the naysayers who took the Cold Fusioneer true believers’ money, and this year it looks like all we get is a bunch of sniveling whiners like you rather than traders putting their money down.

Lots of people make money on polls, just ask Scott Rasmusen.
***Then go and make money on polls & quit bothering us serious folk, shortpants. Can you do it with $50? Not as far as I can tell. But you can on Intrade. “$50 to $46,562 in 2 years on Intrade. “ http://www.intrade.com/jsp/intrade/misc/blog/?initialBlogId=jd_1#jd_13

In the end that’s really what intrade is, especially when it comes to elections, it’s a poll bar bet, you find out how many people are willing to bet one candidate will win vs the other, that’s a poll, except that the group that’s right wins money.
***Blah blah blah, more hat, no cattle, all Bovine Scatology.

Which is actually an OK model for predicting elections.
***Make up yer mind, flipflopper.

But cold fusion isn’t an election, it doesn’t matter how many people take which side of your cold fusion bet it doesn’t change the basic laws of physic cold fusion claims violate.
*** I can see you really don’t know what you’re talking about. If cold fusion were as much of a chimera as you claim, you’d have no trouble whatsoever with taking my money because there would be no chance that Dr. Arata’s experiment would be replicated. Go on... you know you want to... just to prove me wrong if nothing else.

I’ve worked in start up companies, I know about making money on something I believe to be true.
***nonsequitur — take that writing class I mentioned.

If you think cold fusion is real get out there and really help it come to pass.
***I am. By popping the balloons of blowhards like you, and by putting my money where my mouth is.

At the end of the day it’s meaningless fluff.
***Equivocation. Money is money and at the end of the day if what you’re saying is true, you would have my money in your pocket. But all you offer is talk, bs, baloney, and nonsense.

It’s still just a silly intrade bet and will have no impact on the world.
***It would have impact on my corner of it. And yours as well. And the prior Intrade Cold Fusion contract has already had its impact. Your peacock stance is gettin’ old because you have nothing to back up what you say.

If cold fusion works there’s much better ways to make money on it.
***Feel free to point them out, but for your own sake you should do it on another thread because you’ve lost so much credibility on this thread. Who should listen to you? You don’t put your money where your mouth is. You can barely back up your position.

And there’s much better ROIs on things I believe true than offered at intrade.
***More wussy equivocation rather than backing up your words with action.

Yup nobody buys your contracts. Not me, not people that do intrade, nobody. There’s deep meaning here, but not what you want it to mean.
***Yep, the meaning is that the contract is worth more than $5.50, and now it’s at $21? or $23? and going higher because the deep meaning there is that when it comes to putting your money where your mouth is, no one wants to back up their pseudoscience claim any more. So bug off, naysayer. Either quit yapping or buy my contracts.

Funny how the guy doing all the insulting from behind the safety of a keyboard includes “wuss” in his list of insults. There always seems to be a 1::1 correlation between the people who say the kinds of things that would get you punched in person on the internet, and the people who everybody else is a wuss.
***I’ve offered my money, what else do you want? If Intrade doesn’t settle any science, exactly how would punching me out settle science in your mind? Geez, you really do have trouble putting some clear thoughts together. Maybe I shouldn’t sell you contracts, it might be taking advantage of the mentally deficient.

Hot fusion is making money, it’s called nuclear power.

You’ve had that intrade bet on for over a year. If anybody actually took the bet you’ve already lost it once.

I will not do intrade, I know you worship it but I think it’s stupid. I’ll lay the bet in person, but understand if we meet in person the first thing I have to do is deck you for being a rude insulting punk in this thread. Sorry I believe in the John Wayne rules, and in every movie he ever made he’d have punched you by now; the good news is I believe in the John Wayne rules after decking you we could then move on with life.

Kuhn’s all social science. Cold fusion is physical science. No intrade bet will change physics.

The only person on this thread whining is the guy that thinks intrade matters. Mostly whining because nobody will take his bet.

Intrade’s usefulness for predicting elections is the same as any other poll. Because elections are polls, they’re just polls that count. BUT let’s keep in mind also that at many times during the course of the election intrade was dead wrong, Fred Thompson traded very highly on intrade for quite a while. Like all other polls the closer it gets to the actual election the likelier it is to be right.

I’m not going to bet on intrade, and all your bovine excrement isn’t going to make me. Heck at this point I wouldn’t make the bet just because of how clearly it irritates you.

It’s not a nonsequitor at all. You’re jumping up and down here demanding people put their money where their mouth is, I told you way you SHOULD do that which would actually be worthy of respect (work for one of the companies), and then I told you I’ve followed one of the methods (working for a startup I believe in). Not a nonsequitor at all. If you believe in cold fusion so much, if you REALLY want to put your money where your mouth is, make it your job.

No equivocation at all. I will not intrade, I will not intrade over cold fusion, I will not intrade over elections, I will not intrade for sports, I will not intrade green eggs and ham. I WILL NOT INTRADE. No equivocation, there is nothing in the world that will ever make me put 1 dime on intrade. EVER.

I already did point out ways for you to make money on it: invest, join a company working on it. You fled from those idea and demanding intrade bets.

Punching you out wouldn’t be about science. Punching you out would be how everyone that calls somebody else a wuss, ESPECIALLY people that do it from behind the safety of a keyboard, should be treated. Everybody that’s ever called anybody a wuss is a jerk, and all jerks should get popped. Again, John Wayne rules.

You’ve had that intrade bet on for over a year.
***Wrong. If your reading comprehension and science skills are this bad, you have had no business harrassing cold fusioneers for 20 years.

If anybody actually took the bet you’ve already lost it once.
***That was the prior contract, Einstein.

I will not do intrade, I know you worship it but I think it’s stupid.
***I worship Jesus Christ. I like Intrade because it helps me to see the purity of someone’s position. Your position is not backed up by action, and the more I engage in discussion with you, the less scientific you seem to be. You have no business being on cold fusion threads.

I’ll lay the bet in person, but understand if we meet in person the first thing I have to do is deck you for being a rude insulting punk in this thread.
***You’re just backing away. You can take my money from your keyboard and you don’t wanna do it because you know that your position is untenable. Yet that doesn’t stop you from doing the dance & turning yourself into a pretzel. Since you can’t deck me from your keyboard, you oughtta take the opportunity to steal my money to teach me a lesson. But you won’t do that because your mouth is so much bigger than anything else you own.

Sorry I believe in the John Wayne rules, and in every movie he ever made he’d have punched you by now; the good news is I believe in the John Wayne rules after decking you we could then move on with life.
***I’d like ta see ya try that, pilgrim.

Kuhn’s all social science. Cold fusion is physical science. No intrade bet will change physics.
***But a good writing class could change your ability to express ideas that make sense.

The only person on this thread whining is the guy that thinks intrade matters. Mostly whining because nobody will take his bet.
***If nobody takes the bet, it proves my point. Cold fusion is on its way to being real and you sniveling coward whiners can’t do anything about it.

Intrade’s usefulness for predicting elections is the same as any other poll.
***Intrade is not “any other poll”, it isn’t even a poll. If you punch as well as you comprehend, I’ll have no trouble dispatching you.

Because elections are polls, they’re just polls that count. BUT let’s keep in mind also that at many times during the course of the election intrade was dead wrong, Fred Thompson traded very highly on intrade for quite a while.
***I’d be delighted to talk about Intrade’s results with respect to Fred Thompson. As a matter of fact it was Intrade results that I relied on to show that his campaign was faltering, well before any poll results showed it, and it was the ONLY time I’ve ever been given a timeout from FR.

Like all other polls the closer it gets to the actual election the likelier it is to be right.
***You really don’t know what you’re talking about. No wonder you don’t wanna put your money down. If I were you, I’d be afraid to do so as well.

I’m not going to bet on intrade, and all your bovine excrement isn’t going to make me.
***It doesn’t seem to stop you from spreading your excrement without backing it up with money.

Heck at this point I wouldn’t make the bet just because of how clearly it irritates you.
***And yet, the dollar value of the contract as an indicator is unchanged. It means something, like you said earlier. No matter how irritated I am nor how irritated I can get wussy cold-fusion naysayer harrassers, at the end of the day it’s about whether they put their money where their mouth is or if they scurry back into their hovels and hide.

It’s not a nonsequitor at all. You’re jumping up and down here demanding people put their money where their mouth is, I told you way you SHOULD do that
***I am. And you are not. That speaks volumes right there.

which would actually be worthy of respect (work for one of the companies),
***I’m more than happy to, and will continue to look for opportunities where they might exist. In the meantime, this opportunity to put my money where my mouth is in support of cold fusion and to show the cyberworld how cowardly the naysayers such as yourself are, well, it’s just something I can’t pass up.

and then I told you I’ve followed one of the methods (working for a startup I believe in).
***Then you’re an elitist. Startups only higher very well educated engineers & PhDs & that kind of thing. If someone doesn’t have that level of capability, they are barred from contributing in such a manner. But voila!, look at Intrade, they welcome anyone and they won’t check to see if you have a PhD to trade contracts.

Not a nonsequitor at all. If you believe in cold fusion so much, if you REALLY want to put your money where your mouth is, make it your job.
***I do, I am, I wish I could, and it’s plain to see that you’re just a whiner bandwagon-jumper who can’t argue his way out of a paper bag and doesn’t back up what he says with action. Your words are worthless, not only because they are so poorly expressed, but they are backed up by nothing.

No equivocation at all. I will not intrade, I will not intrade over cold fusion, I will not intrade over elections, I will not intrade for sports, I will not intrade green eggs and ham. I WILL NOT INTRADE.
***But you do bar trades, yeah right. You’re totally full of it.

No equivocation, there is nothing in the world that will ever make me put 1 dime on intrade. EVER.
***That’s because it would require you to back up what you say with your wallet, to put your money where your mouth is and you’ve had a good 20 years of harrassing for free. Now we can all see just how much courage you really had for all those years: zero.

I already did point out ways for you to make money on it: invest, join a company working on it. You fled from those idea and demanding intrade bets.
***I did not flee from the idea.

Punching you out wouldn’t be about science. Punching you out would be how everyone that calls somebody else a wuss, ESPECIALLY people that do it from behind the safety of a keyboard, should be treated.
***And look how you’ve treated cold fusioneers for 20 years. You deserve exactly what you have in mind for keyboard commandos.

Everybody that’s ever called anybody a wuss is a jerk, and all jerks should get popped. Again, John Wayne rules.
***John Wayne wouldn’t have any trouble putting his money where his mouth is, and he wouldn’t have any truck with someone who did. He would look at guys like you sideways. But go ahead with yer John Wayne fantasies, they’re worth about as much as your writing.

You first started trying to get this bet going in March of 2008, that’s directly from YOUR LINK. But nobody cared then, and one quick look shows people still don’t. Don’t go dodging on the “prior contract” that just makes this the second try at the same bet, and you lost that “prior contract”.

Betting on something does not make someone’s actions pure. Heck betting is often considered a sin, so there’s people right there that wouldn’t intrade with you. My position is backed up by action, I’m still here (though I’ve got a busy day).

See that just proves how foolish your worship (and yes you WORSHIP it) of intrade. The fact that people won’t take your bet doesn’t prove it’s on its way. It proves nobody takes you or it seriously. I do bar bets because they’re fun and social, hanging around drinking with friends chucking some money on the table, having a laugh, no matter who wins or loses most of the money winds up in the cash register anyway (traditionally big winners buy the first round, and maybe the second). That’s part of the problem with intrade, it’s not social, and it’s not fun. Just look at your own behavior, are you actually having fun? Making any friends? Taking all the good stuff away from the bar bet just turns it into an exercise of degenerate gambling.

Startup companies need more than just physicist. They need accountants and HR people and IT people and lab assistants. If you were REALLY going to put your money where your mouth is then you’d be sending in your resume, you’ve got to have some skill they need.

You use fighting words constantly. Fighting words are something that even US law recognized earn a person an ass kicking, so don’t go acting all shocked when people say you need to get popped. You be a jerk but you’re not stupid, you KNOW you use fighting words constantly, and you KNOW that if you did that in person somebody would deck you, and you KNOW you’re safely behind a keyboard. And John Wayne wouldn’t bet with you, he might bet with somebody that wasn’t a jerk, but that leaves you out.

You first started trying to get this bet going in March of 2008, that’s directly from YOUR LINK.
***Wrong. Just because the contract existed in 2008 doesn’t mean I was trying to “get this bet going”. But congratulations, it does seem as if by spending some extra time to think through your responses, you have managed to come up with some better writing. However, you’re still wrong.

But nobody cared then, and one quick look shows people still don’t.
***No one cared enough to log onto the Intrade forum or here to get loudmouthed naysayers like you to put up or shut up. However, some Intraders cared enough to put their money where their mouth was on both sides of the contract and it expired at zero, rewarding the naysayers as I pointed out earlier.

Don’t go dodging on the “prior contract” that just makes this the second try at the same bet, and you lost that “prior contract”.
***Nowhere does it say that I bet on that prior contract, so your presumption is as false as your sincerity.

Betting on something does not make someone’s actions pure.
***No, but dealing with someone who puts his money where his mouth is can be very refreshing, and it gives me a chance to put bandwagoners like yourself on notice.

Heck betting is often considered a sin, so there’s people right there that wouldn’t intrade with you.
***Such people often do not talk about engaging in bar bets like you do, so the discussion between you and me is not covered under that moral position.

My position is backed up by action, I’m still here (though I’ve got a busy day).
***You harrassed cold fusioneers for 20 years and your little pantywaist keyboard commando fingers won’t let you put your money where your mouth is.

See that just proves how foolish your worship (and yes you WORSHIP it)
***No I do not. I enjoy it. Look up the word worship for yourself to see that it does not apply. I worship Jesus as God Himself. I enjoy Intrade.

of intrade. The fact that people won’t take your bet doesn’t prove it’s on its way.
***In my view it does. It gave me an opportunity to put my money where my mouth was, and now I get to use that fact to show how much cowardice the naysaying position holds.

It proves nobody takes you or it seriously.
***You might want to start searching for unique terms from the Intrade bulletin board and market for this contract before you go spouting off on something you don’t know.

I do bar bets because they’re fun and social,
***for losers

hanging around drinking with friends
***losers

chucking some money on the table,
***more loser bullstuff

having a laugh, no matter who wins or loses most of the money winds up in the cash register anyway
***not very serious then, like a true loser

(traditionally big winners buy the first round, and maybe the second).
***best of luck with that loserville tradition

That’s part of the problem with intrade, it’s not social, and it’s not fun.
***Sure it’s fun. Just look at the Certifigate forum entries.

Just look at your own behavior, are you actually having fun?
***I’m having a blast. I’ve seen this backwater technology get dragged through the mud by losers like yourself and now I am in a position to do something about it.

Making any friends? Taking all the good stuff away from the bar bet just turns it into an exercise of degenerate gambling.
***You’re the one who defined Intrade as a bar bet in the first place. Trying to show that “real” bar bets are superior is pathetic. I’ve seen the kind of friendships that develop in bars, and I’ve seen plenty of times that such friendships are dropped as unhealthy when the barfly goes to AA.

Startup companies need more than just physicist. They need accountants and HR people and IT people and lab assistants.
***I live in the epicenter of startup companies and I think you don’t know what you’re talking about, which is par for the course for you.

If you were REALLY going to put your money where your mouth is then you’d be sending in your resume, you’ve got to have some skill they need.
***I REALLY did, and your assumption is invalid; much like several of your other assumptions in our discourse.

You use fighting words constantly.
***So what? Look through the cold fusion discussions just here on FR and see where the fighting words originate: from the loser bandwagon jumpers like you who are going to shortly go back under the rocks they came from.

Fighting words are something that even US law recognized earn a person an ass kicking, so don’t go acting all shocked when people say you need to get popped.
***If I’m gonna get popped for using fighting words over cold fusion then there are a heckuva lot of bandwagoneer cowards who are going to get popped for their cowardly putdowns of this technology.

You be a jerk but you’re not stupid, you KNOW you use fighting words constantly, and you KNOW that if you did that in person somebody would deck you, and you KNOW you’re safely behind a keyboard.
***I see the John Wayne fantasy is reasserting itself with you. Why don’t you just re-examine your position with respect to cold fusion? You’ve been shown up to be cowardly and unscientific, you’re all bent out of shape over what someone writes in a thread and you don’t know what you’re talking about. By your own words you’ve spent 20 years in this cowardly position. Well, your position is outflanked and I look forward to peppering such positions with grazing fire until Pons & Fleishman get Nobel prizes.

And John Wayne wouldn’t bet with you, he might bet with somebody that wasn’t a jerk, but that leaves you out.
***I see I was correct that your John Wayne fantasy is reasserting itself. Poor Razorboy, he spends 20 years on a bandwagon position because it seemed like the safe bet and finds himself unable even to maintain such a position of safety and now he’s getting the treatment that science has been dealing out to cold fusioneers for those 20 years. He can’t even handle one day’s worth of it.

Thanks Kevmo! Hate to be a 'noog' but:
This contract will settle (expire) at 100 ($10.00) if Dr Yoshiaki Arata's Cold Fusion experiment is replicated in a peer-reviewed scientific journal on/before 31 Dec 2008.

The contract will settle (expire) at 0 ($0.00) if Dr Yoshiaki Arata's Cold Fusion experiment is NOT replicated in a peer-reviewed scientific journal on/before 31 Dec 2008.

What a silly gimmick. Did Edison hang out in poker parlors and dare people to bet against his electric light bulb?
***Edison did all kinds of gimmicks in his day.

No. He built an electric light bulb and turned it on and showed the world it worked.
***And he fought a losing battle for electricity distribution by insisting that DC was better than AC... it was Tesla who invented the 3 phase electric motor and turned it on, and he also proved that AC was better than DC for power distribution.

Turn cold fusion on.
***I’d love to. But I don’t have the wherewithal. Just taking $1B from the Tokomak or the LHC would turn it on but the naysayers are in control for now, so guys like me are stuck with making a point on debate boards & threads and challenging naysayers to put their money where their mouths are. The naysayers aren’t. Their game is up.

Show the world it works. Spare us you cheap parlor betting games.
***Up until now it has been cheap parlor tricks that have been holding cold fusion back. But the tide is turning this year.
