ikeonic: Victim of Palin Zot
Ikeonic ^ | 12/5/2009 | Ikeonic

Posted on 12/05/2009 9:54:41 AM PST by ikeonic

Sarah's explanation of why she legitimized the birther conspiracy theorists feeds right into her victimhood storyline:

Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose. I’ve pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child. Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask … which they have repeatedly.
Ah yes... Palin was a victim of a massive left wing conspiracy that forced her to courageously step down as Alaska's governor.  So it's only fair (to her mind) that Obama be hounded by an equally loony right wing conspiracy -- the birthers.  Well, you just can't argue with logic like that!

Rick Moran at Pajamas Media takes Palin to task and then some.  Here's a sample:

I note that some Palin fans are trying to spin the fact that she never called on the president to produce his birth certificate or questioned his citizenship. They are missing the point. Sarah Palin has said that these questions are legitimate, that voters have a right to know, and that “a lot” of citizens are concerned about it.

She didn’t say what any rational person on the right or left believes: that questions about the president’s birth have been settled by the state of Hawaii, that only a very small group of citizens are even concerned about the issue, and that an equally small number of people were even aware of the ridiculous controversy over Trig’s origins.

Moran continues:
Those who are tempted to say that Sarah Palin’s attempt to legitimize the birther movement will destroy her campaign should forget it. It will never happen. She is immunized against such career-ending gaffes by her loyal followers who don’t want to listen to anyone when they criticize, laugh, or beat their heads against a wall over the latest evidence that as presidential material Palin would make a good candidate for the mayor of Wasilla.
The problem is, unless the GOP — and that includes Rush Limbaugh and the other cotton candy conservatives who wield a lot of influence — stand up and denounce her in no uncertain terms, birtherism will have gone completely mainstream in the Republican Party. If that happens, you might want to forget about any significant gains at the polls for the GOP in 2010.
By her stupidity, she is now going to force every GOP candidate for the House and Senate to come out and declare whether they are birther nuts or not.
Indeed.  Read the whole story here.

The only reason I bother these days to post anything about Palin is merely to declare that I rue the day McCain ever picked her as his running mate (stupidest decision of his adult life) and pray that someday soon she will return to Alaska and disappear.  Palin is the poison pill that threatens to sink the entire GOP and I refuse to take that pill and go down with her.

I'm not going to hold my nose and vote for Palin.  I can not go to my grave with that vote on my conscience.  It was bad enough holding my nose and voting for her to be one heartbeat away from the Presidency.  If she is our nominee in 2012 or 2016 or 20xx, I will vote for a third party or none of the above.  If she's all we got, then we deserve to lose.  It's that simple.

Now some might call me hypocritical for supporting Palin while she was the nominee.  True enough... but I'll leave it to Chuckles Johnson to offer up an explanation for anything I wrote in support of Palin last year:

Says Chuckles: "I was skeptical of her, but I was ready to defend her, because it was hyper-partisan time."

On that much, I'll agree with Chuckles -- and I agree with little Chuckles has to say these days.  In hyper-partisan mode, I too said a lot of things to defend Palin.  I swallowed hard and praised her just as I know it pained others to praise McCain during the campaign.

But once the election was over, I pulled few punches with Palin.  Just as every RINO hating social conservative wasted no time in spouting their hatred for McCain once the election was over.  I was always a McCain supporter (and wish he'd beat Bush in 2000), but never liked Palin for anything other than her ability to regurgitate sound bites (more like bait) to appeal to the base.

I always preferred Pawlenty and think McCain would have been far better served to lose with honor with Pawlenty at his side than to throw a Hail Mary with Palin and unknowingly launch the career of the all but certain destructor of the modern day GOP.  In the end, the shadow of Sarah Palin may well drawf all the good McCain accomplished in the US Senate.

Just because she step down those charges still would have had bearing if they were valid yet where are they? They we as most know a smoke screen with the purpose to tie everything up and cloud the sky, sounds like Saul Alinsky does it not? Her Honesty and standards are what the left fears and the more they target her the better she shows the differences between the lefts views and conservative views.

The birth certificate must be a big deal to Moran and the losers who think the issue is settled, because they can’t drop it, and they can’t make themselves ask the only serious questions journalists should ask about this: Why won’t Obamao make it public? What is he hiding? What’s the big deal with showing the world his birth certificate and the surrounding documents? Why on earth would anyone hide that sort of thing? But no, the losers continue to run interference for their favorite Marxist. Sarah scares these creeps.

Well, they had better take a crash course in conviction then and take an honest stand politically once and for all.

Good for Sarah!

wouldn't she be subject to tons more phony charges by the vast left wing conspiracy?

Yes, but as President she wouldn't be liable to "ethics violations."

How long before she'd have to resign as President?

Never. Her prior resignation before Governor was also valid too. We all know what happened after that - she won the Governorship.

Or do you believe as President she could vanquish all the liberals once and for all?

She vanquished corrupt Republicans in Alaska, so it reasons that she'll do the same with Democrats/RINOs.

You can't say it was a barrage phony charges that forced her to resign as governor in one breath and then in another breath say she could handle the job pressures of the Presidency.

Governor and President are two separate things, skippy.
It's a completely illogical argument

Only to those who haven't read her book where she spells the facts out:

(From page 353 of "Going Rogue" -

The FOIAs were fishing expeditions - just attempts to see what could be seen, then pick it over to see if something, anything, might generate another story. Meanwhile, opponents filed many baseless ethics complaints and lawsuits against me. Combined with the FOIAs, the sheer volume of paperwork and legally required responses brough the business of governing the State of Alaska to a grinding halt. Eventually, it overwhelmed us - and was obviously meant to.

but then again, I'm not used to hearing many original logical arguments from Palin supporters these days.

But you've already have your conclusions of Palin. So what good would logical arguments do then?

Maybe when you're older you will understand these matters.

Yes, maybe when I'm older Palin can teach me how the 9/11 Truthers and other conspiracy theorists are just asking questions and are completely legitimate and don't need to be disavowed by responsible politicians. Yup, in time I'll come around to Palin's point of view that's they're just "asking questions".

There's nothing at all Reaganesque about Palin trumpeting her victimhood and refusing to condemn the birthers for what they are: seriously deluded and misguided people whose buttons are stuck on stupid because their hatred for Obama won't let them accept a simple fact or at least admit that it's highly irrelevant and serves no purpose. The Birthers are just as stoopid as the liberals who insisted that Bush should be impeached for war crimes.

I love the total utter stupidity of written statements like this! IF the state of Hawaii "settled" this matter could at least one of these "rational" people please tell us "irrational" people what hospital is listed on Barack's birth record and the citizenship of his parents on said birth record?

If wanting to know what hospital is provided on Barack's birth record is irrational please explain! As of today the state of Hawaii and Barack Hussein Obama have refused to divulge that bit of information.

Perhaps you could point us to an actual federal statute and procedure that allows what was done to her as governor to be done to a U.S. President. Why don’t you enlighten us, since you are so knowledgeable. On the other hand you may expose yourself.

Well your 1st mistake was to quote that manic depressant clown Moran. I take it you are another faux Conservative babbling fool like Moran, Brooks and Frum?

Maybe fake media Conservatives should not be so quick to fall for what ever spin the junk media spews out about Palin.

Find it amusing that no matter how many times the Leftist media lies to them, a certain sort of “Conservative” will still buy their every words as gospel truth rather take anything they print with a massive grain of salt. This article is total BS.

As usual, the Junk Media attacked her, she corrected their misstatements about her position and they attack her for “Flip flopping” when she did no such thing. She merely corrected THEIR misstatements about what she said.

She merely pointed out that if it is ok for the Left to question her on Trig’s birth certificate, it is ok for others to question Obama on his. She did not demand anything of Obama or “join the birther movement as this fraud of a “journalist” is trying to claim.

Her statements on this issue are completely consistent, the Democrat party hack pretending to be a “journalist” at US News who is pushing this lie should be fired for journalistic fraud.

He is deliberately lying about what she said by placing his own interpenetration on her words rather then factually reporting them, he then misrepresenting her response as being something completely different from what she actually said.

Palin is supposed to suppress Americans' 1st Amendment rights?
I'm all for 9/11 Truthers to protest in the streets and make fools out of themselves to the majority who believes otherwise.
If people want to question Obama's birth who is Palin to judge? That's all she's basically saying.

Her statements on this issue are completely consistent,...

That is the greatest reason for such disdain for Sarah Palin from BOTH the right and left political entities.

Excellent read MN!

.... Or the name of the health care professional who delivered the man-child. How many gifts have been offered to the hospital, whatever it is, in honor of the doctor, whoever he/she is . . . but can’t be given because the information is secret?

You are an idiot...she was being personally attacked and sued and immobilized by aholes like you and she did not have the resources to defend herself...she was PERSONALLY in debt up to her neck and couldn’t cope financially with the debt or the time consuming task of trying to deal with the liberal onslaught with no money...after her book tour and after hell freezes over and she is elected, the resources will be there...just how stupid are you? As for “vanquishinmg” you liberals, that won’t be necessary; you are doing a fine job of it yourselves...

Again, if her solution to her problems as governor was to RESIGN and QUIT, then how will she deal with the far greater level of smears and attacks if she is elected PRESIDENT?

Further, if any Democrat (or RINO) resigned as governor of their state, then made all the excuses Sarah is making and then ran for President in 2012, then all you Palinistas would be the first to jump their case for quitting as governor. But your blind passionate support for Palin won't let you see the handwriting on the wall. She is a QUITTER and a whiny victim, plain and simple. Throwing a "Going Rogue" bumper sticker on that bus doesn't change the fact that she quit and abandoned Alaska.

Side note: I'm also a Jindal supporter and wish he'd resign as governor and Go ROUGE.. as in Baton Rouge. But hey, I guess that resigning trick only works for true rogues like Palin.

I could produce my birth certificate in 2 minutes. Why is it so hard for our dear leader to do the same? Why is he spending millions to hide and distort every fact of his life? What is he hiding?

Call us birthers (or right-wing nuts) if you will, but something stinks in DC. As he continues to destroy the economy and hides his past, the more curious the population will become.

What the eff is your problem, Mr Nobody? Can she be any worse than that Manchurian lightweight with no useful experience that sits in the White House?

She has a compelling life story, she has governmental experience, she was a very popular governor, she has charisma. She has never gaffed like Obamot has virtually every week, yet here you are, shoving some innocuous comments down her throat.. What a numbnutz tool you are.

My sentiments Exactly (Almost)

I'm not quite ready to completely trash this fine woman, but the same thing that makes her so refreshing as a politician also makes her vulnerable.

The birth certificate, rightly or wrongly, has been painted a kook fringe issue. There is no upside for a politician to discuss it.

The thing that make me most uncomfortable is the whole hero worship aspect. It's become the flip side of Obama worship.

Would anyone like to LIST those supposed McCain accomplishments in the Senate?

Good candidate for Mayor of Wasilla?

She was America's most popular Governor before the VP pick.

Alaskans think she did a great job as Governor.

I don't get the “quitter” argument that she was somehow SO ESSENTIAL as Governor that her letting her LT Governor take over was a betrayal of the voters:and also that by quitting, she showed she was too incompetent to be President.

Either she was essential as Governor or not.

Either she did a good job as Governor or she didn't.

I don't think most Alaskan voters feel let down that she made herself a national presence instead of serving out the last year and a half of her term.
