Sarah Palin says it's time to stick up for the 'little guy (Palin coins new phrase: Cocktail Party)

Sarah Palin, former Alaska governor and potential 2012 Republican presidential candidate, told thousands of supporters Saturday enough is enough. It's time to stick up for the "little guy."

Foreclosures are high, stimulus packages are doing nothing to help the nation bounce back and the budget deficit keeps climbing, Palin said. Americans are out of work, and those with jobs are in fear of losing them, she said.

"Little guys across America ... and momma Grizzlies are growling," said Palin, a leader of the Tea Party political movement, wearing the signature red power suit and rimless glasses. "We're going to protect our cubs."

"There comes a moment in time, a moment we feel today ... when we have to say enough is enough. And Bakersfield, enough is enough. You can take it back."

In a nearly nonstop cheerleading speech where she continued rousing the crowd amid cheers, Palin slammed President Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and others for "Obama Care" and demanded "restoration." She called for firings starting Nov. 2, Election Day.

"Are we better off now than we were when Barack Obama took office?" she asked the crowd, which responded with a loud, 'No!.....

......She talked about the "little man" who only wants a good job in his home town, but instead sees a country spending without asking, a bleak economic future, and borders that need protection.

Regarding local issues, Palin said California is rich with farm land, but a tiny fish is considered more important than thousands of Californians being fed, referring to the splittail fish at the center of Central Valley water controversy.

"I'm Alaskan, and I like my wildlife," she said. "But people are losing their farms, crops and livelihoods."

She asked why the "cocktail party" considers the Tea Party movement extreme.

"For believing in American exceptionalism?" Palin asked.

But Palin's choice of words here, is only further showing her mindset to be from a self-absored line of thinking. Dems such as Kerry, Edwards, Gore and Obama use phrases such as "fighting for you little guys" (because they seriously see themselves as superheros to us dimwitted masses).

Palin is indeed out there "fighting", the words "little guy" mean small business, and what she is fighting for is to get government off their backs.

It's true that when taken out of context, like what was reported in this article, the phrase "fighting for the little guy" is a bit nauseating.

That said, you really need to look at the full context of what she is saying and not be so quick to compare her to Obama, Kerry, Gore et al.

Conference organizer George Martin, however, introduced Palin as “the next president of the United States.”

Also speaking at the event was former Gov. Mitt Romney who did not receive the same introduction.

Oh, that is great! I’ll bet Mitt was miffed.

“In her speech today, Gov. Palin used a new phrase that describes Washington DC perfectly: Cocktail Party.”

All I have to say i—Sarah, can I hire you as a tutor for my rocket science homework? (I’m failing the class.)

Sarah Palin, meet Charlie Rangel. You two should chat a little. You have a little bit in common.

Could you explain????

The enemy of my enemy is my friend is only useful as an occaisonal tactical method, of short term duration.

Because when a little advantage is gained, they will turn on you.

Enough RINOS, “reaching across the aisle”, etc. That’s why we’re in the handbasket.

It’s not just your supposition, it’s fact. He recently admitted he did.

You’re making a mountain out of a mole hill.

“Fighting for the little guy” is a very old concept. The phrase (and variations thereof) has been uttered by politicians from both sides, since Hector was a pup.

Put the statement into context with the other high points of her speech.

But don't you understand that issues are much more complicated than that. You can't boil down weighty problems of everyday life to a bumpersticker slogan or a soundbite. Ivy League-strength intelligence is needed to nuance blah, blah, blah.

I crack myself up.

Are you saying that just because Rangel also says that that Palin and Rangel are similar? Or that she is a racist criminal thug like he is? Or she is a fat cat pretending to be for the little guy like he is?

You aren’t clear....

Must I always be most clear?

Palin: “stick up for the little guy”

Rangel: “stick up for the little guy”

Convene and discuss. That is all.

Some people enjoy being obtuse. You are apparently one of them.

I won’t bother reading your comments any more, if you like to dance in circles and not clarify what you actually mean. When I’m asked on FR or anywhere to clarify something, I’m happy to do so, since the purpose of communication is to make it so others understand what one is saying and meaning.

Apparently you have other ideas about the purpose of communicating.
