In an effort to ensure the integrity of elections in the state,Kansasrecently enacted legislation requiring registered voters to show a photo ID at the polls. The law also requires those seeking to register to vote to prove citizenship by providing a birth certificate or another official document that can establish citizenship.
The American Civil Liberties Union denounced the law calling it a giant leap backward. This law will narrow the franchise and reduce voter turnout, complained ACLU spokesman Bertram Petty. What masquerades as an even-handed across-the-board requirement has a disproportionate impact on historically marginalized groups. As we have seen from the difficulties encountered by the President himself in securing a copy of his birth certificate, many people will have trouble obtaining a copy of theirs. What if they cant afford the fee? What if they were born in a place that doesnt issue birth certificates?
Petty also declared the requirement for a photo ID an invasion of privacy. Voters are entitled to a secret ballot. Requiring a photo ID interferes with this right. What if a person doesnt have a photo ID? What if a person doesnt wish to be identified? Should this person lose the right to vote because of this?
This law will limit voting to those who can easily prove who they are and who dont mind doing so, Petty observed. Its racist and anti-democratic.

Really? pfffftttt
The leftie newspaper editors here in KS (yeah, we even have them here) are soiling their Depends in outrage over the new voter ID law, as are the state RATS. Basically, they’re just proving they’re in favor of RAT voter fraud.
“Kansas Voter ID Law Decried”
boo hoo. Pray this catches on for the sake of our Republic.
The marxists have been allowed carte blanche to our kids schools, curriculums, university and academia, and reaped dividends while we continue to sleep, giving up another generation to them. Heartbreaking.
Even closer...
You’ll get me again, one day.
With all the osama threads today I have been keeping an eye out for yours! :)
Seriously? How the hell could this be a step backward? It would help prevent voter fraud...oh, nevermind.
“This law will narrow the franchise and reduce voter turnout, “
That’s what it’s suppose to do... Keep the illegals away from the polls.
and if Repubs would remind the average voter that Dems are FOR this kind of fraud, we could go a long way toward eliminating it ....
This was the right thing to do to prevent fraud. Best thing that could have happened in this state. May Missouri follow then Iowa with the same law.
If the American Communist Liberties Union is against it, you know it’s good.
This new law is going to definitely disenfranchise all the dead people that return to the polls to vote for Democrats each election. It is also going to hamper the ability of disabled people who are not able to make it to the polls so a friendly Democrat always substitutes for them. What about the invalid bed-ridden residents in the nursing homes that miraculously arise and get to the polls every election? Is nobody in Kansas looking out for these people that have always voted for Democrats in the past? What is this world coming to?
The audacity of the Kansas legislature to require the same degree of identification to vote that is required to purchase a firearm. Have they lost their minds?
You have to have a mind first.....in order to lose it. These dingbats have the emotional mentality/stability of a 3-yr old.
