"He Was The Governor Of A Bright Blue State! What Do You Expect ?!"
My Utter Disdain For Mitt Trotsky | 3/26/12 | Alan Levy

Posted on 03/26/2012 8:22:29 PM PDT by Absolutely Nobama

Every time I decide to waste my valuable time on God's green and cooling Earth talking to a Mittiot (A rabid follower of former Taxachusetts governor Mitt Trotsky), the following intellectually dishonest and lazy argument always comes up, especially when discussing Romneycare(less).

"He was the governor of a bright blue state! What do you expect ?!"

To me, the above statement is just as annoying as hearing a Paultard whine "Ron Paul is the only...." or "Only Dr. Paul....". It's like Wolverine's claws on Glenn Beck's chalkboard. Use of a statement like that shows that person using it is utterly incapable of doing any deep thinking. (Yes, Ann Coulter and Matt Drudge, that means you, too.)

See ladies and gentlemen, being a Conservative is not just talking the talk, it's also, more importantly, about walking the walk. It doesn't do anyone any good to give a speech at CPAC and call yourself "severely Conservative". You have to live it and breathe it everyday. It has to be who you are. The values of Conservatism must guide your every action, from the mundane arguing with liberals to vetoing a piece of legislation like Romneycare(less).

A true Conservative would have vetoed Romneycare(less) without giving it a second thought. A true Conservative wouldn't have cared about being re-elected or what the slobs in the arrogant and lazy media thought or said. Principles must come first. In other words, one must do their best Ronald Reagan or Scott Walker imitation at all times when elected to office, especially in a "bright blue state".

Another reason why the "He was the governor of a bright blue state! What do you expect ?!" statement should make you grind your teeth is the fact that it is a blatant admission that Mitt Trotsky is not a fighter. Oh sure, he'll team up with Jew hater Ron Paul and viciously tear into Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum (The media hates them anyway), but will he do that to the popular with the media Chairman Obama ? Will he fight if he loses the Senate and the House two years into his term, as many first term Presidents do ? Will he go ahead and repeal Obamacare(less) with Katie Couric interviewing the folks it supposedly helped ?

"He was the governor of a bright blue state! What do you expect ?!"

A Conservative. Not an "Etch-A-Sketch" Conservative, not an "independent Progressive", not a paintywaist who kisses the rear ends of every special interest group with some sort of problem or gripe, but a real, live, Founding Father quoting, non-politicallycorrectthink, in-your-face, LOUD AND PROUD Conservative.

Really, it's not too much to ask, is it ?

I've been a good little soldier for the GOPe all my voting life, never missing an election and always voting for their presidential candidate.

Now, for the most important election in my lifetime, I'd like some payback from the GOPe in the form of a candidate I want to vote for.

And they push Romney, the guy who couldn't even beat McCain, while they aid in his destruction of all challengers.

To paraphrase what Reagan once said about the demonrat party, I once was a Republican, but the party left me.

I seem to have lost my way. Can anyone help with some directions? Which way to the political party for fiscal conservative, social libertarians?

Not even the FOX Neocon Channel (FNC) will be able to save Mitt Trotsky’s bacon.

“He, Brown, Barney, Kerry & Dodd should have a seance and ask Ted what to do next!”

I think you’d need at least an 18th level wizard to do that. I think talking to a soul in Hell would be pretty tough. (Dungeons and Dragons nerd humor).

“I’ve been a good little soldier for the GOPe all my voting life, never missing an election and always voting for their presidential candidate.”

My voting record is probably worse than yours:

‘96 Bob Dole *YAWN*

‘00 Pat Buchanan (I was the only person in South Florida who willfully voted for Pitchfork Pat. I was young and very, very stupid.)

‘04 proudly voted for George W. Bush. No regrets until he went all TARP crazy.

‘08 RuPaul in the Primary (What was I thinking ? Couldn’t tell you. This was during my “libertarian phase”. I couldn’t be any more ashamed of this if I tried. I should have voted for Fred Thompson, come to think of it, I just might write him in.) and Sarah Palin (NOT McLAME) during the ‘08 Popularity Contest.

So far this year, I’ve voted for Newt, my best voting choice yet.

“Now, for the most important election in my lifetime, I’d like some payback from the GOPe in the form of a candidate I want to vote for.”

Don’t hold your breath. They hate Conservatives far more than they do liberals.

The ineligible, backstabber patsy Romney:
I was promised that IF we attacked Gov. Palin
and her little children, and threw the 2008
election to Obama and the DNC, that then, as my reward,
I, I, I, would be the next GOP candidate, and all America
would bow down and pray to ME! to ME!!!!!'

FLASHBACK:

The McCain/Palin ticket was up ++4 to 10 pts
in some polls, days prior to Election 2008.
So rather than helping the GOP, Romney and
TeamROMNEY and the RNME (Republican National Media Establishment)
decided …to attack Gov. Palin to throw Election2008.

Romney, and the Van der Sloot RNME RINOs for Obama in 2008

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

Thanks for the ping. You and me both. I really hate liars, and when I find out someone is lying to me (and not just kidding around), I drop him like a hot brick.

Mythens is a blatant liar and a huge flip-flopper. He always talks like a conservative (according to his campaign rhetoric), but makes a hard left turn when he takes the office. He's horrible.

The guy is correct in the thread title. Romney governed in Massachusetts, which is, as the article author characterized it by way of ridicule, a bright blue state. Just as Scott Brown is a senator in that same bright blue state.

Anyone thinking you can in any way govern or represent Massachusetts as one would govern or represent a very red state has an agenda not connected to politics.

As a reminder, politics is what this forum is all about. We need to operate in the land of reality to have any hope of making a difference. Such as advocating for conservative candidates in political primaries.

However, it now looks to be sure that Romney will be the Republican nominee for president. That being the case, we should push for a very conservative nominee for vice-president. One that would represent conservative values and also be electable in ‘16 or ‘20.

At this point, continuing to bash the soon-to-be R nominee only helps Obama and the Dims. Not a smart strategy if we want to get Obama removed. Which is Priority Number One.

I wrote the article, and I think you’re a 1000% right.

I think it’s an absolute shame that I’m being forced to think this way. Given my druthers, I would have preferred to have someone that we could all get behind without a second thought. (I also wish RuPaul would have retired and went home to Iran before he inserted himself into this mess, but I digress.)

Getting rid of Obama is obviously our number one goal, but at the same time we can’t replace him with someone slightly different. We need a radical right turn back to the Constitution. I think either Gingrich or Santorum could do that, but I think Romney or Paul would be a complete and total disaster.

I also think it’s perfectly acceptable to take off the gloves during the primary process. The eventual election winner is never harmed by a tough primary. A weak candidate will always be weak no matter how much his people try to hide it, and a strong candidate will always win no matter how much he’s attacked.

Now, if Romney wins, I’ll shut up. Same goes for Paul. When it’s all said and done, I’m a member of the Republican party, as I have been my whole life. (I still have no idea why I voted for Pat Buchanan in ‘00, but it’s not like I voted for Ralph Nader or anything.)

Good thought provoking response.

+1

Yes, good points. Ru Paul, haha.

I think we will have primary closure soon. Newt is auctioning spare office furniture to raise cash. (Not really.) Rick is moving into less unfriendly territory.

Some people will still grouse about Romney being this or that or not being this or that and that’s ok, I groused about having to vote for McCain.

I hope Romney will fare better than McCain did against Obama. He should, The One has lost his mojo.
