Got that? Since 1988 The Communist Party in America hasn't even bothered to field their own candidate, they decided they'd be better off backing Democrats.
So when Allen West suggests there are Marxists in the Progressive Caucus of Congress (which is filled with Democrats) is he trying to bring back McCarthyism?

No, he isn't.
It’s delusional NOT to believe the ‘rats are ideologically commies.
Not just in Congress — EVERYWHERE.
West DIDN’T say they were communist in their ideology or outlook, he claimed that 80 US congressmen were actual member of the Communist PARTY, and yes that’s not only irresponsible and delusional , but literally McCarthyism by definition.
It was a stupid thing to say because a) it severely damages his credibility on important issues on which he speaks out and b) makes him look like he’s about 20 year behind the times as he should well know Communism is an ideology smoldering on the ash-heap of history. Islamo-fascism is the clear and present danger in today’s world
The junior senator from Wisconsin was heartily disliked for being the cop-on-the-beat who exposed Communists.
Mrs. Iselin to Sen. Iselin: I keep telling you not to think. You're very, very good at a great many things, but thinking, hon', just simply isn't one of them. You just keep shouting "Point of Order, Point of Order" into the television cameras and I will handle the rest.Sen. Iselin: I mean, the way you keep changing the figures on me all the time. It makes me look like some kind of a nut, like an idiot."
Mrs. Iselin, holding a newspaper: Well, you're going to look like an even bigger idiot if you don't get in there and do exactly what you're told...Who are they writing about all over this country and what are they saying? Are they saying: "Are there any Communists in the Defense Department?" No, of course not, they're saying: "How many Communists are there in the Defense Department?" So just stop talking like an expert all of a sudden and get out there and say what you're supposed to say.
Sen. Iselin: I have here a list of the names of 207 persons who are known by the Secretary of Defense as being members of the Communist Party... I demand an answer, Mr. Secretary. There will be no covering up, sir, no covering up. You are not going to get your hands on this list. And I deeply regret having to say...

Well, well, well... it seems “Lex Gabba” got zotted.
‘Bye Lex! Don’t let the door hit you where the good Lord split you!
LucyT, and myself started posting about the “Progressive Caucus” in October of 2005 IIRC, but few thought it worthy of concern at that time. I believe it is the “Progressive Caucus” that Congressman West is concerned with, and yes they are Communists, and NO it wasn’t anywhere near as stupid a thing for the Congressman to state as is your post.
I’d recommend you learn about the Left before you attack the right at FR.
he claimed that 80 US congressmen were actual member of the Communist PARTY
****
All you have to do to join a party, is think you are a member.
The Dems vote like that.
My view, modified from P. J. O’Rouke “Obamunism is communism one drink at a time” as time goes on the taste will turn increasingly bitter.
Not so much as you seem to believe. Probably true in the former USSR but the world is checkered with tin pot dictators that keep the old faith alive.

GtG
PS There was an old joke that went something like this;
What is the difference between Russia and the United States?
Answer; The Communist party is illegal in Russia.
Communism may, in one sense, be foundering on the ash heap of history, but it is succeeding under the guise of progressivism, environmentalism. Just read Aaron Klein’s the Manchurian President to see how many fellow traveling marxist groups there are. Congressman West did refer to the platform of the Democratic Progressive Caucus. They are commies!
There are; even if it was just one.
They forgot Jimmy Carter even though it was kept under cover.

I didnt know that being a Communist in Congress was off-limits or out of bounds. There arent any now and if there were in the future does that mean that the voters dont have a say? Cant choose a Communist to be in Congress?
In a number of states, including Illinois, being a communist not only disqualifies candidates. It disqualifies political parties. Or, it is supposed to anyhow.

From the Illinois Code:
I knew as soon as I read their comment that there would be ozone involved.
IATZ.
TOL: Zot Ping!
The current IFWHO, (Illegal Foreign White House Occupier), used to be in the US Congress as the junior Senator fro Illionois.
So let’s peel back the onion rings of history, and speculate on the spectacular Con-Artist skill of His Royal Pain in the Pocketbook, High Poo-Bahness, the model of the Country of Haiti’s Dictator Baby-Doc Duvalier, Barry the soft shoe, Former Foreign Student at Haaaaaaaaaaavud, Dictator Baby-Doc Barack!!!!!!!!!
Okay, everybody sit down, and listen to your gut as you read the following speculation:
Since there are no known networks of childhood friends from Obamas past, Obama was probably a member of a Marxist sleeper cell funded by wealthy men with a Marxist view of the World.
The lack of credible evidence that has NOT been forged requires a long-term, highly skilled and well-funded support group.
Who the key members of Obamas probable support group and probable sleeper cell were and are is well known to the CIA and the FBI.
"Who the key members of Obamas probable support group and probable sleeper cell were and are is well known to the CIA and the FBI."
Well, what can, and are those agencies doing about it? Do they still safeguard the nation? How is allowing the usurpation of the presidency itself not only to succeed, but continue on, more than three years after the fact safeguarding the nation exactly?
If there's some grand games-withing-games-within-games scheme on the part of the national security apparatus to spring a trap on these conspirators, swooping in to save the Republic from the clutches of Marxist global tyranny, I'm just not seeing it, I guess.
And that’s just the presidential candidates they’ve endorsed.
I ran quick and dirty analysis of the 2009 list of publicly self acknowledged socialists. From the list 29 of those listed were African Americans and at that time there was a total of 41 African American members of Congress. Thus, over 70% of African Americans serving in the Congress were acknowledged socialists. Thus, it can be reasonably inferred that the African American electorate is overwhelmiingly socialistically inclined and those saying Republicans should make greater efforts in recruiting blacks are suggesting that Republicans should embrace socialistic principles.

Oh, c’mon.
Some of ‘em are decent human beings. “Zig-Zag” Zell Miller, 2-term Governor of Georgia, was a Democrat and is probably well to the right of our current likely presidential candidate, Romney. Hell, if the Democrats ran Miller against Romney, I’d vote Miller.
(Not going to happen. Miller doesn’t want run and doesn’t like the current Democrat leadership, anyway.)
A lot of Democrat politicians are reds; most of ‘em are pink. But there are still a few of them who are just decent folks who think they’re helping their neighbors. Or who are Democrats because that is how their county or district works.
If we had a constitution and an elite somewhat loyal to the United States, it would not matter if communists gained some power. We have neither.
The exceptions prove the rule.
Go back to DU where you belong....
If Leon Pannetta was closely connected to card carrying communists, it is in no way deluded to say that we have about 80 communists in the House.
And now “Neon Leon” is head of the CIA. Then we have Obama’s open mike blooper. Who in all hell is asleep at the switch?
Just check this out:
***********************************
Back in 1983 he (Pannetta) inserted a tribute into the Congressional Record, recognizing DeLacy and his wife Dorothy, another communist, for their commitment to social justice and resisting the dark forces of McCarthyism. The latter strongly indicates that Panetta was aware of their involvement in the communist cause and that not only did it not matter to him, it was evidence of their courage and bravery.
Trevor Loudon writes, The couple, Hugh DeLacy and his wife Dorothy Baskin DeLacy, both had long histories with the Communist Party USA and were very active in the Santa Cruz progressive movement that had helped nurture Congressman Panettas career. Phrases like social justice and dark forces of McCarthyism rolled from Rep. Panettas pen, in a piece that would not have been out of place in the Communist Partys Peoples Daily World.
He adds, The DeLacys were not merely Panettas constituentsthey were close personal friends. Hugh DeLacy was also a longtime correspondent, with whom Panetta regularly discussed defense and foreign policy issues.
In addition to this evidence, we have congressional hearings, information about a communist cell active in Santa Cruz, and Panettas own record as a member of Congress, where he fought during the 1980s to protect communist advances in such countries as Nicaragua and Grenada and worked feverishly to undermine President Reagans anti-communist foreign policy and military defense build-up. Incidentally, back then Panetta was a foe of CIA covert action to protect Americas vital interests, which makes Obamas selection of him as CIA director even more interesting.
DeLacy was not only a prominent member of the Communist Party USA, but also a personal contact of identified Soviet spies Solomon Adler and Frank Coe and accused spy John Stewart Service.

Ash heap of history? Let's be realistic. There are several governments around the world currently which can't be described as anything but communist: North Korea, Cuba, Vietnam, Venezuela for starters.
Islamo-fascism is closely aligned with communism as can be seen most readily by the geopolitical alliances between Islamist and communist states, like Iran and North Korea. David Horowitz did an excellent book on this subject, titled "Unholy Alliance."
No
Thanks for the pings, and g’night all.
Agreed, the unholy alliance of totalitarian states. Theocratic fascism, Communism, and the Obama version,
Afro-American Fascism, all operate in ways that draw the
fascists and the communists together.
Obama already has made his bed so he lie in it with the COmmunists. We must prevent him from doing so AT ALL COSTS.
Allan West knows EXACTLY what he is talking about. And people are beginning to listen.
“Red Jihadists” is the best description of this feculent alliance..
In a word... YES!
Why should we put forth the idea that there is even the slightest bit of doubt about what is painfully true to even a brain dead libtard by putting the words Suggest and Might into the equation...
Declarative Statements are our friends!
LOL! I stand corrected.
