From this moment the State of Israel declares a state of war exists between the State of Israel and the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran. To minimize civilian casualties, the population of Iran should immediately and permanently evacuate populated areas within the IRI. We intend to demolish the government of the IRI and its current leadership and to permanently destroy the capacity of the Islamic Republic of Iran to manufacture weapons of mass destruction and to reduce, for generations, its capacity to manufacturer modern weapons.

If Israel uses nukes,even to create an EMP, {and i don’t think the idea has ever been examined outside the theory,(and I know about Hawaii in 62)}, everyone will condemn them and declare them an outlaw. Obama will do so and Romney will have to agree. Iran will close the Straits, oil prices will double at least and our election will devolve into chaos as both sides stuggle to ask the right questions, let alone find the right answers.It will be a horror.

I seriously doubt this is imminent although in the long run it is inevitable. Remember how long it took Bush to finally go to war against Iraq. Israel needs to attend to the essentials of diplomacy before initiating a pre-emptive war, especially a nuclear strike. Unless Iran does something really stupid first, of course, in which case all bets are off.

This is Israel we're talking here,not Norway.What could Israel possibly gain by "diplomacy"? On the one hand,they're hated almost universally already and it would give Iran more time to prepare or "preempt".On the other hand,Israel can count on the (tacit) approval of the Gulf states and,at worst,Europe and the US will do nothing to hinder them,given the stark IAEA reports....

The reason why I dont believe this story is because Israel does NOT leak information. I have family in Israel, I was there in mid June for my sister’s wedding and Obama’s approval numbers are about 3 percent in Israel. If Israel has ANY plans on attacking Iran, they will wait until AFTER Romney is elected President because they know they will have full support from the United States. Israel knows that Obama sides with the Arabs, they have known this for years, no way would they do this now.

All nuclear weapons can produce EMP as a secondary effect, but the effect can be enhanced by special weapon design. An EMP is just a sudden change in the electric and magnetic fields, changing EM fields induce currents in anything capable of carrying a current. This is especially true of power lines, where the current can really “build up some steam”. The problem with current suddenly showing up where it’s not expected is that it can arc or overload circuits. Anything that has a connected loop of wire is a circuit (phones, processors, power lines, built last 30 some odd years, can be destroyed by the sort of sudden surge you get from regular old static electricity. Iran will Re-enter Stone Age, and anywhere else close too. Checkmate Achmed!
