Today is the Ides Of March.

Julius Caesar was assassinated on this day in 44 BC.

In 1950 Charlton Heston gave a brilliant performance as Marc Antony in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar.

If Brutus was an honourable man, then so is Joe Biden in his ice cream dreams.

The math is wrong. Today marks 2066 years since the assassination of Julius Caesar—there was no Year Zero. The year A.D. 1 immediately followed 1 B.C.

For some reason I more associate Marlon Brando with the role, no disrespect intended toward Charlton.

Heston’s best role was Judah Ben Hur. IMHO. I have always thought of it as the best movie ever made, perhaps tied with Lawrence of Arabia.

I think his four best movies were “ The Ten Commandments”, “Ben Hur”, “The Greatest Story Ever Told” and “The Agony And The Ecstasy”.

No ping, just adding to the series.

[long pause]

Okay, ping. That list took a little effort to compile, and this only works one day a year.

The Ben Hur chariot scene will likely never be topped for sheer epicness, although it runs a bit long.

"Julius Caesar was assassinated on this day in 44 BC. "

Incorrect. Caesar was assassinated on this date in 44 BC but not this day because the English (including the American colonials) changed to the Gregorian Calendar in 1752 (the year when 2 September was followed by 14 September). If figured against the position of the earth relative to the sun on 1 Jan in the modern calendar versus the position on Roman 1 Jan, the solar anniversary of Caesar's murder isn't for another 11 days.

Date, yes. Day, no.

Was Heston better in Ben Hur than he was in the NRA?
