We need a revolution to take back our Congress

A REVOLUTION TO TAKE BACK THE US CONGRESS by tenurecorrupts.com

I am proposing that we create a popular, bloodless, political revolution in our country.

I believe that it is very necessary, very possible, and very doable.

The object of this revolution is the destruction of the professional political class which currently dominates and corrupts the US Congress.

I am convinced, as are many, many voters, that the bulk of our country's political problems arises out of this 'permanent' Congressional political class, and their devotion to party power and to the financial special interests keeping them in power.

There is a simple method that voters can use to create this revolution: That way is to...NEVER REELECT any Congressional incumbent, in either party, in either the House or the Senate, good guys or bad,. Just NEVER REELECT any of them!

It can be done easily and at no cost. All it takes is a national email campaign by all voters, convincing their friends, and their friends, and their friends, to send out this NEVER REELECT message, frequently, thru out 2008, 2010, and 2012, and maybe longer...Just NEVER REELECT!

If we succeed in doing this for two or three election cycles, we would sharply reduce the rate of successful reelections for the careerist professional politicians, which currently stands at over 98% in the House. Similarly in the Senate. When they find that they are no longer virtually guaranteed to be reelected forever (like Kennedy and Dingle, over 50 years each, just two examples), they will drop out and get jobs elsewhere.

This would leave room for and encourage ‘citizen legislators’ to run for and win office, using the Internet, without the help of special interests. It would break the back of the special interests who will have to work ten times harder to try to poison a huge batch of freshmen every cycle.

The resulting larger contingent of freshman Congresspeople would enable us, the voters, to call for term limits of "Six Years and Out", and for publicly funded federal elections. Both of these changes would keep the professional politicians and their financial backers on the sidelines for a long, long time.

Let's do it! (Note to all readers: Please feel free to use this message, with or without attribution, for any purpose).

Staying home in November because you don’t like the candidate and want to teach the GOP a lesson won’t get us the Congress back. This is why it is very important to vote in November

Seems like a lot of collateral damage from deliberately electing newbies every cycle.

Agreed but voting for socialists Obama, Clinton or McCain will defeat the purpose of a revolution at the ballot box.

Never gonna happen. Folks in my hometown are going to reelect their "Republican" congresscritter because he grabbed some earmark money to help build a new hospital. I'm sure this will happen in the majority of the districts across the country. Thank Newt. Thank DeLay.

Nothing in this country will change until our federal government utterly collapses under it's own greed, weight and corruption. I just pray there are enough remaining pieces to rebuild it into something.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO VOTE FOR PRESIDENT. Simply vote for congress positions, and your local and state stuff. That is important. The president position is worthless. Bush has proved that.

We need a true Conservative Party—Now. Remember, once the Republicans were a radical 3rd Party of Anti Mormon, anti-Slavery people. We need to think of a new party to win back House & Senate

I tend to agree with you. It’s too late this go around but we should be working on a Conservative Party. Maybe (I wish) we could get some of the true conservatives to switch.

A failure to cast a vote for President only assists the Democrat nominee.

A failure to vote in November period, only assists a victory for the Rats and this has to be avoided

Put congress back in Constitutional order under it's restrains and POTUS will be forced to abide in it as well the USSC.

Sorry, Kaslin, I meant to direct post #12 to Man50D. You are correct, "A failure to vote in November period, only assists a victory for the Rats and this has to be avoided."

Conservatives need to be grown and nurtured. We just need to find them (they will find us) and support them. Unlike Ross Perot and Reform party, its not just about the White House—we need to take over the state houses, school boards, city halls and congress to make a point before we roll to the White House.

I agree completely with the “clean up your own backyard” approach. I live in AL and made a trip to Montgomery (our state capitol) just last week. Wish other Alabamians would do the same. At least the conservative ones.

The Conservative Party (C) needs to be a national party. It should be started on the internet and some rules listed. 1) what are the Core Beliefs of the CP?
2. Who is a conservative, a partial conservative, and a wanabe conservative. 3. Conservatives need a symbol, an animal of some sort, a Bear? a Bison? or an Owl, (The Whigs had a racoon in 19th Century)
Core Ideas should be simple.
A) Close the Border—Build the Wall.
B) Keep up the military
C) Balance the budget
D) Enforce the laws
E) No to PC foolishness
F) A colorblind society
G) Constitutional Judges-no laws from the bench!
H) Lower Taxes.
I) Reform the schools so they teach the three Rs.
J) End NAFTA or Control it.
K) Send the UN packing to Europe where it belongs.

Maybe you have some ideas as well.

Nice idea; bad outcome.

Just who do you think, under the current rules already in place, will be running the government? Do you really want to turn it over to the bureaucrats, and give the NEA, Unions, Welfare Rights groups, et al — unfettered access?
