Viva La Diva! Mariah Carey's outrageous demands for a dog chauffeur, 100 pairs of shoes and a £1,000 throne

The diva has landed - this week Mariah Carey arrived in the UK to promote her new album.

With a reputation for being one of the most demanding A-listers ever, she herself admits: "I guess I am a diva in many ways. I can be difficult and a little bit rigid about what I want."

But then, amazingly, she says: "I don't think I'm demanding enough."

But, as David Thomas reveals, it's hard to imagine just how much more demanding Mariah could possibly be.

She sounds like she’s totally insane, but people are free to pay her whatever they wish for her entertainment services, and she’s free to pay others to serve her whims.

I think she looks dreadful with the stick legs and the Hillary-helmet haircut.

Teachers aren't my most valued resource by a long shot, and if you think $40,000 a year is "scraping by," you've never tried to live on $20,000.

Sanitation workers are, in my opinion, far more valuable than teachers.

I agree with you. In the district I live in, new teachers start at $40K for a short work year (approx. 190 days) and good benefits. I think that is very generous for a young adult right out of college.

Also firefighters, and the people who work the graveyard shift and holidays at the 24-hour Wal-mart.

One of our local newspapers publishes the names, titles, and salaries of all city, county, and school district employees who earn over $60,000 per year. (Base salary only, not bonuses, benefits, hiring incentives, etc.)

Many of the listed school district employees are teachers. Some earn six figures. And this is Charlotte, North Carolina, not San Francisco or Manhattan.

Yea, five years of college shouldn’t get much.

I always thought she looks like a fish.

The one and only Cribs episode i ever watched was the one with her in her Crib showing off her hundreds of clothing “Ensembles”.
She came off as one complete, spaced-out idiot.
Well, a RICH spaced-out idiot.

As long as she or her record company pays for it I don’t have a problem.

Seems the chick employs people and stimulates production of goods, if she can afford it “good for her”.

She used to be cute when she first came out.

Then she started wearing dresses that all looked like tube tops. Now she is totally sex-oriented and dresses hideously. Her love affair with herself is ridiculous.

She looks good, I think. I really loved it when she sang at half-time of the NBA all-star game wearing MJ’s replica uniform.

Two days later, I saw a High school girl emulate that.

(TEACHERS) scrape by at 40k a year...

$40K isn't too shabby for 185 days of spreading left wing garbage.

I must admit that most of the teachers I known don't make $40K annually...tt's more list $55K to $65K.

In Tucson, starting salaries are $32K. The average elementary school teacher in Arizona makes about $35K.

starting salaries are $32K.

So, $32K for 185 days? Based on an 8 hour work day that comes out to $21.62 per hour. Throw in the benefits and these "teachers" aren't going to starve.

First of all, those “teachers” are the ones teaching most kids. Some do it well, some do not. That is also my experience with most union employees. Unions do not reward good work, which is why they foster so little of it.

I have little pity for anyone who claims to be underpaid or overpaid. Carey gets paid a lot because a lot of people freely give her money to hear her ‘singing’. I loathe her singing, but no one forces others to listen to her, buy her records, etc.

But neither do I believe teachers are overpaid. If they were, more would flock to those jobs. There aren’t many people willing to deal with 13 year olds kids for 8 hours a day. Those that do should be paid, but they also need to understand that their quality of life includes less money for more free time...more stress, perhaps, but less manual labor or education required.

I didn’t say that it should not. My point is that there are a lot of career fields which require the same level of education, more time at work and earn less. For example, my son is taking his five years of college and joining the Army next year an a Lieutenant where he will work considerably more days/hours a year, have more responsibility and earn considerably less than a teacher in our area does. Is an Infantry Lieutenant in war time worth less to society than a teacher? I don’t know, but I do know that I am tired of hearing that teachers are underpaid for their services when that is simply not the case, at least in my area.
