A U.S. tourist got more then he bargained for when he was attacked by a crocodile while attempting to answer the call of nature in the Mexican resort of Cancun this week.
According to Mexican police 20-year-old Andrew Dales, from Dallas in Texas, confessed that he had been on a mission to relieve himself at the edge of the local Nicupté lagoon , in the popular tourist resort of Cancun, when the crocodile suddenly snapped at him.
He suffered multiple bite wounds to his leg and neck and was also left with a head injury after the reptile knocked him to the ground, a police spokesman said.
Cancun is one of Mexicos premier holiday destinations for UK and U.S. tourists.
Cancun's crocodiles (principally American crocodiles, Crocodylus acutus) are non-aggressive species that feed on fish and other small wildlife.
The 5000-hectare lagoon is home to approximately 25 of the species - though most of them live away from populated areas.
Tourists however are advised to be careful and lagoons in the area are dotted with crocodile warning signs.

there I was, liquidating my holdings, watching the rings in the water, when I spotted a pair of yellow eyes...
“reptilian teeth I had never seen the likes of before, I fell and the beast had cut me hard”

"Howdaya think I got this hook?!!!"
"He acted stupidly..."
I was in Cancun about 7 years ago and decided to golf at the Hilton.
On about the 3rd tee, there was a little sigh saying “Beware the Crocodillias”.
Yeah yeah I though, something to amuse the tourists.
I hit a nice tee shot, about 240 up the right hand side of the fairway while my partner went up the Left.
We split up and I walked to my ball.
Sure enough, it was lying nicely in the fairway, about 15 feet away from an 8 foot croc.
I declared that it was an unplayable lie due to ground under occupation and took a drop about 50 feet away, no closer to the pin.
So should I have penalized myself a stroke?
Cheers,

Later in Mexico City I heard some cat say "Mas Tarde, Padre". I guess that was the equivalent hip phrase.
Both. The latter was probably what made him the former. :=)
