I wish I knew. I can't remember anything. Luckily, the car in the turn lane next to me was a great witness. I'll have to ask her about that.
I think my next truck needs a HANS device!

I paid $3.00 a basket for a small tomato like that at the farmers market yesterday and it was worth it. I also bought a basket of the yellow cherry size and they are very good eats...

My FRiend has a 4X4 Tea-ota the same color and it has almost 200,000 miles on it. There are many here behind the Redwood Curtain with 400K on the odometer. My FRiend and his wife compete in dog agility trials within a 300 mile radius of Eureka and this weekend she beat some of the best dogs and pro handlers in the US with her Australian Shepherd. Did I tell you Judy is 68 and weighs 98#?

Good morning all. Great fall day here in Missouri. It is a sunny 46 degrees on the way to 79 and low tonight expected to be mid 50's. Just picked a mess of green beans last night. Put them in the crock pot on low. They should last for a couple of days.
Got a few cukes yesterday. Iroquois melons should be ripe soon, (anyone have any tips on how to tell when to harvest?) if weather holds. Tomatoes are still blooming and forming new fruit in bed #2 planted midsummer. The row cover seems to have been sufficient to get them and the melons through the cold snap this past week.
Worked on bed #1 soil. Buried banana peel and eggshell in each square. Will add a scoop of compost/manure to each this weekend, and plant red winter wheat this Sunday. New beds 3 and 4 are in the process. Hope to finish up this weekend and plant some winter wheat there as well.
Hubby has cleared most of his garden, and is preparing to plant some white winter wheat. The butternut tree has produced a great crop of nuts in spite of the drop earlier this spring. We have about 4 gallon buckets, and more are still on the tree.
Here's a picture of our orchard planted this spring. Hope everyone has a great weekend. God bless.

Hey no problem. We had a similar situation a few years ago, wife's was car was hit by a stop sign runner. Damage to the left rear quarter pannel, knocked the plastic cover off rear bumper and rear light damage and no structural damage. Ins. co. said they were totaling the car. I argued with them and story short is they agreed to fix it!
I have always thought they were totaling it because they would benefit by selling it as a scrapper.

I am going to rotate crop locations and plant the garlic in the composted terrace in the front of the house. I grew potatoes there this year and need to dig them up before planting the garlic. I also have a second terrace in back with potatoes to harvest. The thrd terrace still has collard greens that are producing. Think I will use the compost pile to expand the size of terrace #2. There was snow last night above tree line. The continental divide here in Colorado is all white this morning.

Congratulations on her agility success!!! I have a friend who does that with her dogs and loves it. LOTS of competition, though, and you have to be very, very good to win. A win to savor!
The Toys, especially that vintage and earlier, have a couple of issues with frame rust, but otherwise seem to last forever. And, Toyota will replace the frame under warranty. I'm told they are just getting broken in at 100K. Unfortunately, mine is just broken.

Good morning everybody! The JADB family farm is all about picking cotton this time of year -- thank heaven that the temps have settled into the 80's.
Run the picker until the basket is full.
Dump cotton into module builder.
Press cotton with tramper until you form a solid block called a "module".
Open back door of module builder and pull off, leaving module which is about 8' tall x 32' long. I parked my vehicle there for perspective.
Repeat until you have modules sitting all over the turn rows. The gin will send large trucks to pick up the modules, which weigh in excess of 20,000 lbs. each.

Great looking orchard! I started one a couple of years ago and I use 5 gal. buckets with a small hole drilled in the side close to the bottom for watering. It sure is convenient.
Butternut tree? Do you have pics of it you could post? I have never heard of a butternut tree.

Well just WOW! It has been many years but I was working for a while in Texas cotton country and just remember eighteen wheelers and tractor drawn buggies going down the road with cotton blowing all over the place. The road sides looked like it had snowed.

I am so glad that you’re okay, and I hope you enjoy your new vehicle. It won’t be the same as ol’ reliable, but you’ll build a new friendship.

Oh daddy, I don't think we're in Kansas the 1940s no more. They were just perfecting the one row pickers when I fled the farm. You have a fortune tied up in tarps alone...

Thanks for the link. It was very interesting. I do have several southwest windows that get direct sunlight by 11 am and it lasts till sundown. Plus I have a cart that has 2 grow lights. The room is pretty warm in the afternoons due to the sun coming in from the sliding glass doors. So I will be experimenting this winter.
Last winter I had citrus tree, lavender, palm, and Norfolk pine, tarragon, and thyme. All did pretty good. I have started moving them all inside due to the cold snap. I already dug up a tiny tim tomato to see what it would do. I added sage, mint, and basil to the herbs.
