Oh, Piffle.

Mortimer Brewster: Aunt Abby, how can I believe you? There are twelve men down in the cellar and you admit you poisoned them.
Aunt Abby Brewster: Yes, I did. But you don’t think I’d stoop to telling a fib!

And Rosemary Lane. She is unappreciated as an actress. She did such a fine job here.

How could we miss “The In Laws”?

I have a unique test.

I have friends who grew up in an area where the brand of Christianity there disapproved of movies and Tvs. As a result, there is a whole bunch of middle aged folk that never saw any of the old movies. Any of them.

We get together once a week and I introduce them to “Casablanca” “The Maltese Falcon” etc.

The In Laws was probably my biggest laugh success. “Serpentine, Shel, Serpentine!”

I see someone has already quoted “Serpentine”.

I’ll see you that, and raise you this one.

“I sit there listening to stories about tsetse flies carrying off small children and the Guacamole Act of 1917, and I’m being irrational?”

I like the courtroom scene “Who are you?” “I am Hugh!” “You are ME?!” “I am Hugh!”

Best in Show was hilarious, and Woody Allen’s Take The Money and Run was great, too. The bank robbery scene was funny “This note says ‘I have a GUB.’ “ “No, it says ‘I have a GUN!’ “ “No, this definitely says ‘I have a GUB,’ “ funny stuff.

Enjoyed "Dark and Stormy Night" directed by the same guy...Larry Blamire. Have you seen "The Lost Skeleton Returns Again"?

Mortiners expression when he found the body in the windowseat was priceless.

I would have liked to have seen Boris Karloff who played Jonathan is the Broadway play get the role instead of Raymond Massey. Massey did an outstanding job, but it would have been a hoot to see Karloff get the role

***All Peter Sellers Pink Panther movies ****

To me, his best is AFTER THE FOX. At the last, during his trial, they show the “movie” he made, some idiot critic in the audience begins to applaud, calls it a great film while being dragged out of the court.
It is funny because at that time much of the dreck made by “artistic” European film makers was this kind of junk. The film BREATHLESS (that critics rave about)is an example.

“I was born a poor black child”

Good only if they have the three gags about people begging for money! For poor kids, to fix airplane seats, and Cat Juggling!
When Gaylord Sartain comes in asking for a donation to fix the seats in his airplane is a real hoot! This has been cut from most of THE JERK movie as it actually upstages Steve Martin.
