Lancing the “She Quit!” Boil One Last Time
© 2011 By Gargantua

One of the more unsettling hallmarks of the unfair, often deceitful, and always unprovoked attacks on Sarah Palin is the way in which she is frequently castigated for doing things commonly accepted when done by others, but which somehow rise to a level of unconscionable effrontery when she does them. A good example is the way that she was excoriated for having posted on her website a map of the United States which used surveyors marks to denote vulnerable Democratic congressional seats for The Tea Party to “target”in the 2011 midterms.

Leave aside for the moment the fact that Democrat operatives had created a similar such map using actual gun sight crosshairs (and not the somewhat more innocuous surveyors marks Palin had used) in laying out their “aim for” congressional map. Leave aside the fact that a Democrat candidate actually aired a commercial in which he repeatedly fired a rifle at a copy of the “Obamacare” bill.

Ignoring these facts as well as the fact that Jarod Lee Loughner was a demonstrably insane liberal who had stalked Gabrielle Giffords for the past several years, and had most probably never even looked at Sarah Palin website, nonetheless the extremist left immediately started blatting into every microphone and TV camera they could find that it was clearly Sarah Palin who had caused the lunatic to shoot the Congresswoman.

I use this example to_underscore_the clear double standard employed whenever the extremist left decides to opine on Gov. Palin. Turning our attention now to another of the Lapdog Lamestream Enemedia’s frequent mantras concerning the governor, let's take a comprehensive look at their assertion that she should not be considered for future office because “she quit." The way that canard is presented, one might easily believe that it is something offensive and out of the ordinary that Palin had decided to do. After all, with this act, she was turning her back on and walking away from her constituents and her elected post as governor.

Whereupon arises the question, what Senator, Representative, or Governor in the history of the Republic, did not in fact walk away from his constituency and elected position so that he could run for another office? Can you name one? Of course you can't. Every Sen. Rep. and Gov. who ever ran for a different office after having been elected to their current one walked away from their constituency and their elected post in order to do so. It's a common practice. It's a commonly accepted practice.

Unless, of course, Sarah Palin tries to do it.

Even more insidious in the use of this strawman when attacking the governor is the fact that she did not “run away” in leaving her governorship. She put the reins of the state in the hands of her very capable lieutenant governor Sean Parnell, turned and charged into the teeth of the beast that was assailing her. And proceeded to royally kick its butt.

Speculation was rampant and predictions were unending that this marked the death knell for the poor governor. The path of her political ascension had reached its zenith, and she was in a fire and smoke trailing tailspin headed for political obscurity. Nobody the day after Gov. Palin stepped down predicted that she was about to publish two best-selling books. Nor did they predict that she was about to embark on a series of speaking engagements commanding six figure compensation. Most assuredly, nobody even thought of suggesting that she might mount a series of campaign endorsements, often times for obscure candidates trailing badly in the polls, the majority of which would then win elected office creating the Republican Revolution of 2010; the single largest party shift in control of the House of Representatives in the history of the Republic (whereby Sarah would be most appropriately crowned “Kingmaker”).

Just to recap, Sarah Palin did indeed leave her governorship to move on to bigger and better, and far more meaningful (not to mention unpaid) contributions to the political ship of state. Just as had every elected official in American history before her, Sarah left the Alaska governorship to pursue higher goals prior to the conclusion of her full-term. The main difference being none of the other elected officials who had undertaken this commonly accepted practice were ever so roundly and universally excoriated as a “quitter” for having done so.

As a fitting end to this story of truly unique practices and outcomes, Sarah Palin is quite likely shortly to announce her candidacy for President of the United States in 2012. Should she do so, the most likely outcome will be that she defeats in a landslide the most badly failed president ever to hold the Oval Office.

The irony, and oh-so poetic justice, of just such a scenario is most certainly not lost upon those who still admire and will always support so unfairly mistreated a hero as Sarah Palin.

Baraq Obama has a master’s degree in “operations” from the Chicago political mob.

Plus the full faith and credit of his puppeteer, George Soros!

>>Actually, the majority of the Palin supporters here will only shake thier head and think to themselves: “There goes another clueless lou!!” and then go about the normal lives.<<

You clearly haven’t been on the threads I have. And the underlying opinion is certainly prevalent. Bad thinking is not tolerated.

au contraire, mon ami! Been there and have seen it all. My point was, that the majority of Palin supporters just ignore the post like Rippin's and move along. We don't answer, we just chuckle and skip over those posts.

You painted every Sarah supporter with a wide brush, so I thought I would dispel the myth that ALL Palinista's attack.

I don’t understand why as Governor she was not able to marshall state resources against these foes and crush them

Sarah could not get the sate of Alaska to pass a law against frivolous law suite against the Governor. The Democrats swarmed to Alaska to do as much damage to her as possible.

Given her popularity and fund raising ability, I can’t understand why money was even an issue. She should have hired the best lawyers and shredded the Dem b@stards.

You're absolutely correct. When Jim Robinson took a poll of FReepers to see whom we supported for President, Palin won with either 82% or 87%, I'm not sure which.

Anyway, the VAST majority of Palin lovers here on FR just give justifiably brief notice to these inbred dunces and move on witout comment. A particularly vile or stupid post might be shared with chuckles (or knee-slapping guffaws) in private emails among the cognoscenti, but mostly they just aren't worth wasting time over.

You won't change their minds, and it was God's decision to make them drooling imbeciles. We have no place toying with that... it's above our pay-grade!

N'yuk n'yuk n'yuk!

"She should have hired the best lawyers and shredded the Dem b@stards."

That's precisely what she did... she won 19 of 19 lawsuits. But it was over a year after having stepped down that she came into million$ with the ridiculous success of "Going Rogue." Before then, she was just a hard working public servant with bills like everyone else... okay, plus a Governor's mansion.

:0)

"Who can afford to fight frivolous law suits when the government will not stand up against frivolous law suits?"

I will add the real culprit: The Republican Party. The Republican Party quit Sarah Palin at a time when she could have used their help. Instead the Republican Party sat on their thumbs and watched Sarah Palin spin in the wind as phony law suit after phony law suit came upon her. They were hoping that these lawsuits would put Sarah out of the picture. The Republican Party are the quitters. Just like they are quitters on the many patriots around this country by sitting on the sidelines on their thumbs with their mouths shut.

By Alaska law, anyone could file an ethics suit against her at no cost to them regardless how frivolous. The floodgates were opened. Not only was the cost to her and the state crippling, but it tied her administrations’ hands on doing the state’s regular business. All efforts had to be trained on gathering proof to fight the lawsuits. Here she was, a VP candidate, and if a reporter asked her a question some idiot used that as an excuse to file a lawsuit: ‘She wasn’t doing Alaska’s business.’

Unflippenbelievable!

You also have to include the fact that Sarah's defense fund was declared an ethics violation and $386,856 had to be returned to the donors. Imagine having this ruling hitting you as over $500,000 in costs were hitting your personal finances in legal fees. It was threatening to crush the Palin family financially. All the time, the Republican Party sat on their thumbs hoping that it would crush Sarah Palin and force her under a rock. I blame the Republican Party for their neglect.

every sitting Senator, Representative, or Governor who ever ran for further office all abdicated their current offices to do so.

That's not true.

I stand corrected to that fact and your observation is completely fair and accurate. I shall attempt to thin my brush accordingly.

"Unflippenbelievable!"

Try to imagine just how twisted, vile and mentally deranged one would have to be to come up with that as a way to cripple a political challenger? To use the State's law to launch over a dozen phony ethics charges just to financially destroy a decent human being.

That kind of filth, that level of depravity, deserves a special form of response. The perpetrators should be shown in real simple terms that this is not American, it is not acceptable, and there are real, meaningful consequences for being so big a rotten scumbag.

It may well be that they won't face the music until they're standing before God at Judgement. Oh well.

I'll admit that I'm curious. I know that ethics in government was a big issue for Sarah, leading to her going into politics. Did the law that essentially drove her from office get passed when she was governor, or was that an older law?

Well posted article and supporting information.

IIRC the DNC was directly encouraging these law suits.

With the coordinated all out effort to destroy Gov Palin politically and personally, they thought the ruling re: her defense fund was to be the coupe de grace finishing her off once and for all, while the corrupt GOP old boy Murkowski factions smiling silently on the side lines, the Arctic Fox slipped through the trap as no other elected official has ever done before.

The political graveyard is strewn with the wrecked careers of politicians who faced lesser attacks.

There’s little doubt in my mind that she lined up her post gubernatorial opportunities to primarily protect her family from bankruptcy and the following wild financial successes were unanticipated.

All of her actions subsequent to the strategic retreat can best be described as re-arming reloading, planning and executing a guerrilla political campaign. So far all of her forays have her enemies heads smoking.

She’s a brilliant strategist and tactician who takes names and never forgets.

To those who blithely throw the quitter label at her or can’t clear their impatient wedgies because Gov Palin is not moving on their schedule Just sit back, bring your lunch and get ready to be schooled because as Ronaldus Magnus at the opening of his re-election campaign, “you ain’t seen nothing yet.”

I couldn’t agree more!
I guess they found there was nothing legit to destroy her with so this is the route they are taking.
Do you suppose when they realize that won’t work they will resort to actual physical assassination??????
