UK elderly are “wasting too many bedrooms” (CIVIL WAR if they try this in US.

London, England-In yet another outrageous piece of social engineering from our coalition government, pensioners will be encouraged to downsize to smaller properties allowing local councils to rent their homes out as council houses and manage the tenancy.

Local authorities will ‘help’ older people move from their homes into ‘more suitable accommodation’. Grant Schapps, the Housing Minister, who is a conservative member of parliament claims the scheme will solve a so-called ‘housing crisis’ as well as creating a system that will ‘permit access to various sources of wealth’ that are currently not being used to pay for care.

Read that as the elderly will have to raid their pension pots and hand over the equity in their homes - which they have spent a lifetime paying for – in order to put themselves into a care system which is notoriously unfit for purpose.

Despite having paid taxes all their lives, pensioners will be forced to run down their wealth while those that have squandered their money or lived off the state will get free care. The idea is to create more stocks of ‘affordable housing’ for younger families. This is a euphemism for subsidized houses for families that have deadbeat dads, single mothers with a battery of children from different fathers and other assorted welfare dependent cases that need ‘help’.

Don't say that it can't happen here.

If it ever does, I'll be the first to know. For every person in my house there are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. I've lost count of the number of times I've been told I should sell it to a larger family who "have use for all that space." Rather than envy it seems to be disapproval, like there's some set amount of space a person deserves, and we're taking more than our share.

The guys that say they “lost” them will be the first ones confronted as they are wusses.

They will go after the men last.

Well, you know, Obama says “Jesus Would Want Us to Tax the Rich...”

So, let no spare bedroom go unused.

“since I couldn’t pay the vacant room tax.”

I’ve heard several rabid liberals discuss that there should be no homeless because people with “McMansions” should be required to board the homeless. It was described as a tax for the rich. There really are people that believe the government owns everything and anyone with anything got by stealing it from the government.

I fear you are correct. The only question is what will come after.

There will be a lot more than two sides to the war. The US will end, and at least three new nations formed.

...it's like reading something from Dr. Zhivago!

Or, closer to home, the EF&D trilogy.

Re: BLOAT - IMHO, the priority needs to be centerfire calibers that start with .3, .4, and .5 (or NATO equivalents).

With the exception of the UK Freepers along with the right thinking people over there, few as they may be, maybe the muzzies taking over the UK would be a “good thing.” At least the muzzies do respect property rights and will gobble up and thin the herd of liberals. I’m torn what to do if that happened, sure I’d get our allies out of there and bring them here to make them safe but as to the libtards left over there, should we do the Christan thing and help them or sit by with a can of beer and popcorn and let the show begin?

Crowds of the un-treated and their families might then gather outside hospitals demanding care, picketing entrances, and sparking riots.

I've posted this many times before but what if somebody is denied healthcare under Bammycare? People naturally have spouses, children, siblings, friends, parents, grandparents, etc. depending on the age of the one denied. I would hate to be a member of a death panel making such a decision to deny. I'd stay out of dark allies, look under my car before starting it, keep my eyes out for shadows, and jump at every noise I hear at night. Is that noise I hear at 2:30 AM the neighbor's cat or is it Grandpa Jones' grandson, which I denied care to his granddad, with a posse of his friends armed with baseball bats and a shotgun? How about blocking the road in front of me, an old lady in a 1967 Caddy. Did she break down or is she the wife of the man who I denied a hip replacement to, waiting for me where as I step out of my car to help, the last thing I hear is a .45 going off just before St. Peter appears. It's 10 PM, my kid is late in coming home and the phone rings. How about this, what if I denied care to a Tony Soprano?

I know under the insurance companies, there are cases of denial but in a lot of cases, you can get the doctor and hospital to get them to reverse their decision or just go ahead and let the family pay for it and/or go on a charity case. Not so with the government, if you are denied, there is very little redress at all. Ayn Rand put in in a long monologue where it boils down to this, "the more laws you create, the more criminals you make" and when you eliminate the process and route where one can make a challenge to make things right legally, that leaves only one other way, revenge and/or at least forced coercion via illegal means. This is a pandora's box to be sure, people will do anything for their loved ones and for survival.

I remember Quark's quote from DS9 (Star Trek) about us humans, "Let me tell you something about humans, nephew. They're a wonderful, friendly people as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts, deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people will become as nasty and as violent as the most blood-thirsty Klingon."

I don't feel comfortable in visioning this scenario, but if we keep going on the present track, it will happen.

Yeah, there is no talking to them, talking to a brick wall is more of a productive task. I hate to say it, but there is a side of me that says, "put up your dukes, time to rumble."

Maybe more, perhaps the Mormons will realize their dream of an independent Deseret Republic for example. What three nations do you see? I'd probably see a small nation where the libs will be in one, we'd have our own, perhaps a revived Confederacy, and maybe an Aztlan with the fourth being Deseret.

In the Orthodox Jewish community a number of elderly, retired people are selling their big homes and dividing the profits among their (usually large) family members while they find themselves a smaller place to live. Others are subletting and looking for tenants to bring in extra income.

It makes economic sense (and financial help for an increasingly impoverished Orthodox sector). However, it is their choice. Not the government’s, not even the rabbis’. What someone does with his house is his own business.

I can’t believe how dog-eat-dog it’s become out there, as far as competing for resources. I might face a similar situation, as a single woman living in a 3-bedroom apartment (which I share with 2 other women). The day might come when I’m forbidden to live here and instead required to move to a woman’s residence (usually single resident occupancy).

Is that a Photoshop of Hillary? I remember her saying something like that years ago.

""Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you. We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you," she said at a fund-raiser for radical Sen. Barbara Boxer.

"We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good," the former first lady admitted."
