A Turkish newspaper columnist has been heavily criticised after writing an article which said the Olympic Games is destroying the female figure.
The piece - called "Womanhood is Dying at the Olympics"... soon spread around the world by saying the Games was distorting women's bodies ....
'Their breasts the symbol of womanhood, motherhood flattened into stubs as they were seen as mere hindrances to speed.
'I am not even talking about female javelin throwers, shot-put athletes, weightlifters, wrestlers and boxers.' He added that the appearance of many female Olympians was 'pathetic'.
Following the publication of the article, Mr Aytug was strongly criticised by people on Twitter and his own female colleagues.

The Turk? That's the guy's name? The source actually got a quote from "The Turk?"
I thought he drowned in 1898!
Muscle cannot turn to far. Having muscles will help you keep fat off. Arnold is is far better shape than 90 percent of males his age.
The problem that does occur in some cases is that competitive athletes whilst training and competing ingest massive ammount of calories. Michael Phelps is on something like 8000 kcals a day. He only manages it by eating lots of fast food like french fries and mcdonald’s burgers and shakes (no joke).
If you keep up such a caloric intake whilst stopping your physical calori burning activity, of course the caloric surplus will be stored as body fat.
On the other hand, a person who has formerly been in shape as a lot easier time shedding that fat again. That is why virtually everyone who wins physical transformation competitions - going from flab to fab as the Brits say - have formerly been in very good physical shape.
Cheers.
Girls are mean. They have strange Powers(tm) that make us their helpless slaves.
I remember back when I was in college there was this girl . . . she was beautiful. And I was just minding my own business and suddenly she's all "GAZE INTO ME EYES!!!" and I was all like "O_o" and then she said "You are now in me power! MWA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA! You are now a chicken!" and I was "I . . . am . . . now . . . a . . . chicken . . . " and then she said "You are now a dog!" and I was "I am now a dog" and then "You are now a solenodon!" It was H-H-Horrible!!! I'm allergic to solenodons.
So I say, let 'em get all ugly! Then they won't be able to zap us and boss us around no more!
Nyah!
An athletic body is understandable, but IMHO the uniforms are horrid and I strongly suspect the designers are all gay men. When an athlete has to pull wedgies out after every action (volleyball) or has what boobs they do have hanging out of the shoulder area (swimming), it is a sad testament to the designer. I can’t imagine most of the participants are pleased with the wardrobe.
Is there something immoral about soccer or skeet shooting?
The women want to wear the revealing outfits..no one is forcing them to wear a bikini at beach volleyball or the skimpy track and field sports bras and panty style body suits..
Oh no . . .
RUN!!!!!!
Little boys' natural fear of girls exists for a reason, you know!
Too bad it doesn't last!
Good luck - stay away from courtrooms as they will slap you with contempt for evasiveness.
In 5th grade I thought girls all had cooties..by 7th and 8th grade not so much, LOL.
And you must not have a brain.
I was not evasive - you were simply not bright enough to get what I was talking about - even after I had to explain it to you - twice.
I can understand an old Turkish guy saying that or a journalist saying it to attract attention, but women Olympians are exceptional or atypical in a lot of ways.
It's not like every woman in the US or Turkey is going to look like these competitors -- or like anybody can stop some women from going in for highly competitive sports.
You’ve got a six-pack? Dude, I’ve got a whole case.
Crabcakes.
Far worse, the emasculation of men in the United States has destroyed American male’s ability to compete with other nations. Of the 34 medals won by the U.S., 23 of them were won by women. This is a far worrisome statistic that does not bode well for males in the U.S.
One look at television, notably the commercials, and the push is on to empower girls (girl power!) and women at the expense of boys and men. Males are marginalized, mocked, belittled, and even slapped by women and no one seems to care nor change this pattern.
...imho, this post is one of the best I’ve read on this forum on any topic...
I thought Michael Corleone shot him in that restaurant.
So, what you are saying is that females that are athletic and competitive arent real women? FYI: girls that get involved in a sport usually do better in school. Uh... real school not learning to serve tea or arrange flowers correctly in a vase. ... they can learn how to compete, run, sweat, spit and scratch. Gosh, women actually exercising and SWEATING! Imagine how stupid these girls are to want to keep their bodies healthy by competing in a sport. How in the world will they ever arrange the perfect flower arrangement when they are tired from a sport?!!
...no, that’s actually what you are saying...and rather hysterically, at that...
Do you believe that the Olympics should be men-only or that it should be unisex?
...in actuality, I think unisex events should be the norm...
***Their breasts the symbol of womanhood, motherhood flattened into stubs as they were seen as mere hindrances to speed. ***
Nothing new.
...absolutely nothing new...my junior prom date (lo, many years ago)went beyond just flat...she used to lie down on the kitchen floor, and her two dogs used to lap water from her chest...one on either side...
