Young men giving up on marriage: ‘Women aren’t women anymore’
Life Site News ^ | 1-10-13 | Hilary White

Fewer young men in the US want to get married than ever, while the desire for marriage is rising among young women, according to the Pew Research Center.

Pew recently found that the number of women 18-34 saying that having a successful marriage is one of the most important things rose from 28 percent to 37 percent since 1997. The number of young adult men saying the same thing dropped from 35 percent to 29 percent in the same time.

Pew’s findings have caught the attention of one US writer who maintains that feminism, deeply entrenched in every segment of the culture, has created an environment in which young men find it more beneficial to simply opt out of couple-dom entirely.

Suzanne Venker’s article, “The War on Men,” which appeared on the website of Fox News in late November, has become a lodestone for feminist writers who have attacked her position that the institution of marriage is threatened, not enhanced, by the supposed gains of the feminist movement over the last 50 years.

“Where have all the good (meaning marriageable) men gone?” is a question much talked about lately in the secular media, Venker says, but her answer, backed up by statistics, is not to the liking of mainstream commentators influenced by feminism.

She points out that for the first time in US history, the number of women in the workforce has surpassed the number of men, while more women than men are acquiring university degrees.

“The problem? This new phenomenon has changed the dance between men and women,” Venker wrote. With feminism pushing them out of their traditional role of breadwinner, protector and provider – and divorce laws increasingly creating a dangerously precarious financial prospect for the men cut loose from marriage – men are simply no longer finding

“Men are tired,” Venker wrote. “Tired of being told there’s something fundamentally wrong with them. Tired of being told that if women aren’t happy, it’s men’s fault.”

What? Young men aren't rushing to marry the Sandra Flukes of this world? I'm shocked!/sarc

Hate to say it but with a lot of the young men I’ve met recently I don’t think all the blame can be laid on the women. Maybe it’s just that men aren’t men anymore.

Just saying.

Why marry - I’ll just find a woman who hates me and give her half my stuff.

I will Marry again. I know I screwed up the first time~35 years ago. Allot of good Men and Women raised Daughters (my age, 57), that are good Women. I’ll be damn if I can find them though (NO!, I don’t hang in Bars nor Churches).

As Robert Cray sings: I’m a Good Man, Ok, maybe Arogant but Good, none the less....

Where have all the good (meaning marriageable) men gone?

I'm right here at home, without noise blaring, everything calm and peaceful, my money safe, and I can do whatever I want without explaining exactly why the transmission is in the bathtub.

Not to complain, but my woman ... wife ... has turned into beast since she went back to work.

The Frickin’ government makes two of us earn an income to have a normal life.

She comes home at night from work and bitches at the kids, at the dogs, at the cats and me. What ever happened to Ozzie and Harriet? I want a wife that greets me at the door with a Martini and makes me quickly forget the pain I go through at work. But we now end up in a negative and constant bitch session about how she doesn’t like her job and I do not like mine.

We at least share that. F feminists. Neither of us want this life.

This is what results when society drifts away from God.

Only in strict obedience to Him does a relationship make sense.

I have been outside of His will and (now) inside of it. I have proof...but it is only the kind of proof I can see and understand. Find your own...it awaits you.

As Chesterton said "Christianity has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and not tried."

I hate to admit this but my own son has told me IF he marries, he won’t do it unless he gets a pre-nup. I was sort of shocked. I told him that his father and I are happily married for all these years and why would he be so jaded at such a young age. His answer... “most marriages aren’t like yours and Dads. If half of the people get divorced, I’m making sure that my stuff remains my stuff”. I guess hearing all those horror stories from pals about their parents divorcing, cheating, etc... jaded him.

Having been long married and with no ax to grind here, it does seem to me to be true that women of all ages are more intent on marriage than men. The sad fact, which no feminist tergiversations can undo, is that in 2013 there is no benefit to marriage whatsoever for the average self-reliant man. The cold fact is, marriage is an outdated means used by women to hold men down.

For years, the "womens movement" has castigated men for not being as invested in their emotions and in 'relating' as women are, or want men to be. What they are now finding is, they have way overvalued these emotional response channels, and that men are much better suited to single life now than they are.

Feminist chickens coming home to roost.

Oh yeah?

And just how are men supposed to be men when all the PC BS rules in the schools and workplace punish those who try ?
50 years of Big Government taking over the duies that were once a man’s AT THE DEMANDS OF THE FEMINIST MOVEMENT have seriously skewed the society.

Chances are half the women you meet would kill the child you father and you won’t know.Marriage doesn’t change that.

So Half the women in America aren’t worth marrying!

If you are single and 57 and don't have some trainload of crappy baggage, take heart--there are about ten million single women in your age range looking for you and wondering where the hell you are.

Why is the transmission in the bathtub?

But then that is a mystery to be solved...not a reason for divorce.
