Can we prevent an open civil war?
self | 01/23/2013 | reluctantwarrior

Posted on 01/23/2013 8:26:55 PM PST by reluctantwarrior

Can we wait four years to defend the constitution with force of arms?<>

Yes, if we launch a massive ground campaign to retake the senate in 2014 through electing Tea Party conservatives<>

Yes, if the House keeps gun control at bay until 2014 and we hold the House majority<>

Yes, if a million new folks join the NRA before the end of 2013 and pledge to vote for pro gun candidates<>

No, if we wait and see what happens in 2014

Shame on anyone wanting to ask about open civil war before we completely discuss the peaceful alternative, a Constitutional Convention.

At this point ... do we want to prevent one?

Personally I think it would be in the sake of the best interest and some saber rattling to just hold a nationwide exercise sponsored by the Tea Party to ask for local militia volunteers of a specified err rather “regulated” type so as to lay the initial groundwork of actually defending the 2A.

problem is we should be openly considering options just the same as a country like North Korea testing nukes, we should be testing out ability to adhere to the groundwork of the 2A.

Either that or we all become cricket farmers.

Shame on me then, shame on you if one happens because we shy away from a discussion of how to keep the peace

The RATs may keep the White Hut for decades. The country’s only chance is to stock the Senate and House with conservative majorities.

Aww that’s cute. You think voting can actually change things.

OK. I’ll “bite”.

How would/could this change things?

I served for 32 years 2 months and 20 days. In that time I fought several different enemies in several different regions and all of them never really recovered from hostilities. If we fight a civil war we will not be the US ever again. For some this is a good outcome but as for me I yearn for a rebirth of these United States.

BS! The NRA kept the Senate in Democrat control in 2010, and got Harry Reid re-elected.

I don’t think the problem is the language of the current constitution, but the quality of the men that are currently governing us under it. Nonetheless it is an intriguing idea to organize a Constitutional Convention, make suggestions for changes, and then submit them to the various states for consideration. I offer up my home state, Missouri, located in the geographic center of the lower 48, as a venue for same.
It worked over 200 years ago, maybe it would help now.

Majorities in both houses allows impeachment and trials to progress. It allows laws and regs to be repealed. A long train of usurpations before the gravest of choices or our kids will not forgive us. Lets use the ballot box before the cartridge box at least one more time.

Are you out of your freaking mind? A ConCon with the bastards that currently inhabit DC? They would just assume vote on scrapping the Constitution altogether first...

Criticism is greatly appreciated but suggestions carry the most weight in a discussion. What would you do?

Obama doesn’t want to avoid a civil war. He wants to be Lincoln. He thinks he will win it.

I don’t forsee a hot civil war, but I’m afraid of a 100 year trough, like in Argentina. The loss of prosperity is one thing, but it’s the waste of human potential that saddens me the most.

The Senate is a symptom of a bigger problem. They are the waiter serving spaghetti and butter to a honey boo boo nation. We need to change the country. This involves taking back our schools, taking back the media and taking back the country. Starting in our homes then our neighborhoods, churches, schools, cities, counties, states, then country. We won’t accomplish anything if we don’t change the mindset of the country.

And you don't think the Alinskyites would be in charge of the CC because?
