They outlawed Chewing gum in Singapore, trade agreements finally got them to relent on therapeutic gums like anti-smoking, but still no chewing or selling of regular gum.

They were. It's never been illegal to possess gum, and even the restriction on sales has been partially lifted. Singapore isn't interested in caning American tourists, anyway - they save that for Third World rapists and robbers.

Some of the best advertising appeals to people on levels below the conscious. So it stands to reason that one country or culture’s advertising may be incomprehensible to another. We dont know how successful this campaign was or is. But the Brits are hands-down the cleverest ad developers for our culture.

Not going to watch. I DESPISE gum chewing... the habit AND the people who do it.... disgusting. Can’t stand the look, the sound, or the stench of gum chewing. Totally disgusting! Oh, yeah, and I’ve had to transcribe dictation where the slob dictating is chewing while talking. Makes me want to pull out my hair!
