Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, and Joe Pesci reunite in new set photos captured during the shooting of The Irishman. Based on a book by Charles Brandt, The Irishman traces the life of real-life reputed mob hitman Frank Sheeran (De Niro), who among other things claimed to have been involved in the 1975 disappearance of Teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa, a mystery that to this day remains unsolved (despite outrageous claims like his body being buried under the old Giants Stadium). Al Pacino is set to make his Scorsese debut playing Hoffa.
The Irishman marks Martin Scorseses return to gangster film territory, and hes recruited a cast that includes many of his former long-time collaborators, including De Niro, Pesci and Harvey Keitel.

There is that also, but it’s Bocce Ball.
“maybe surprised”
I reactivated Netflix to take a look at this picture.
I checked the reviews on IMDB and I could tell all the reviews that were a 9 or 10 had to be fake.
Then I read all the 1 and 2 reviews and found them a great deal more accurate.
This is not “Goodfellas II”, It is an incredible boring movie that drags terribly. You have 75 year old actors and they are using CGI reverse aging to make the ages they want, but guess what they still move and act like 75 year old men.
I have watched about 90 minutes of it and it is a struggle to think about watching the rest of it. One shining thing is Joe Pesci, he is great and I liked seeing him again.
I will leave to the rest of you interested to give your take on it.
No really bad is “Dirty Gandpa”, I could have done without seeing Bobby masturbating. That movie is rock bottom for him.
That movie had to make at least $300 Million before it started showing any kind of profit and that was not going to happen.
Started watching it tonight. 2 hours so half tonight and half tomorrow I think.
I have a tough time with De Niro, such an ass mobster wannabe
as I said earlier I attribute that to DiNero’s mouth. Were I one of the investors or producers and other cats i would punch his light out.
Another factor. this is a movie that follows historical events from the late 1900s. many youngsters couldn’t care less.
Ask someone under 50 what the bay of pigs was or the relationship between the Mafia and the teamsters.
It was always destined for Netflix. It had a brief theatrical run only to qualify for Academy Awards contention, that's all. It was never slated for wide theatrical release. It's an R-rated movie that is 3 1/2 hours long.
Pacino has great range. My favorite Pacino performance is “Glengarry, Glen Ross”.
I wonder what they would have done had it had major buzz.
I knew it was NF bound. They must be counting ting on oscar and re-releasing it after the big win.
I can’t believe they are recouping the costs from just NF and 400,000 in the box office.
fu n and surprising thanx
Whatever happened to Roberts? I like Woods, but i guess he’s on the liberal blacklist
Netflix has a lot of money and this is a prestige piece for them. To have Scorsese, DeNiro, Pacino, Pesci make a gangster film specifically for the streaming channel is a big win that sets them apart from Amazon and Hulu. That's what they're paying for. It was never about making money in the theaters. From the moment this project was green-lighted, it was headed for Netflix. That's why it's as long as it is. They know people are going to pause it and watch it over multiple sittings.
Thanx big loss it seems I am the only one watching from my movie fan-family and some friends. My kids in 30s and 40s have no interest Grandkids, fuggetabotit
Maybe he thought he was doing high art like Harvey Keitel flogging the bishop in “Bad Lieutenant.” Right now, I’d be more concerned about the rock bottom that is his malignant cancer of a soul. There’s not going to be much of him left pretty soon. The hate has devoured him.
You may be right. That’s the only movie in the past 3 decades he didn’t devour the scenery screaming his Pacino heart out. Of course, EVERYBODY was excellent in GGR because of the material. Too bad they couldn’t create an Oscar ensemble category, and even Baldwin deserved a supporting actor nod for it. It’s a shame he’ll never be that good again.
One film of Pacino’s, now almost forgotten, was “Bobby Deerfield.” I thought he turned in a decent, understated performance in that one.
Eric Roberts ? He’s had some personal problems, but he does a crapton of work. It looks like he takes virtually every acting job, big or small, offered him. He’s done a whopping 22 films (!) and 5 tv shows just this year alone...

Thanx I must be rip Van winkle
