Three coffins, skeletal remains, chariots and swords were recovered from the excavation site of Sanauli, Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh. This discovery is estimated to belong to a royal warrior class dating four millennia back, from the Pre-Iron or Bronze Age of 2000-1800 BC, reported India Today. Though the findings are not being linked to any race or civilization particularly, Sanauli's close proximity to Hastinapur, the land of Kauravas and Mahabharata's estimated time period dating to 2nd millennium BC has got the historians thinking! The findings might actually be linked to the Mahabharata! The royal remains have now been transferred to the Red Fort for further tests and elaborated studies. The studies will help find answers to various questions like who were buried at Sanauli? how did they live? and how did they die? The main finding is that a chariot has been brought to the surface for the first time in the entire subcontinent. Usually these chariots are found only in countries like Greece and Mesopotamia, historical hub in western Asia... Swords with handles,four-legged charpoy-like coffins with copper-leaf designs, eight burial pits including a dog and twin-human burial, Pottery with funeral items or food for afterlife, combs and mirrors, gold beads were also unearthed... Weapons will be put through metallurgical tests to figure out the bronze and copper ratio in them which will further determine the mines they originated from. Paleobotanists, who are experts who study terrestrial plant fossils, prehistoric marine autotrophs, photosynthetic algae are being put on board to study the animal bones recovered.

Mahabharata ping.
Like finding the ruins of Troy and Mycenae.
Why wasn't there ever "The Brass Age"? Brass is prettier and, after battle, more readily straightenable than bronze. ;)
Finally Fred , they have discovered the location of one of your previous incarnations!
Interesting find. Refreshing that in India, a predominantly Hindu country, scientific publications have no difficulty using the term “BC” as opposed to the more politically correct “BCE”.
Very nice sword!
Why? Styrofoam lasts for thousands of years underground....................
Doubtful. All my past-life recall (genetic memory)points to Scotland and Greece, nothing in India.
Thanks, I'd hoped someone would notice that and comment, it seemed more apropos compared with the other photos.
