Around 8,000 revelers gathered around a prehistoric stone circle on a plain in southern England to express their devotion to the sun, or to have some communal fun.
Druids, pagans, hippies, local residents and tourists, many clad in an array of colorful costumes and even antlers, stayed and celebrated at Stonehenge for the night and greeted sunrise on Wednesday, which is the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere.

I had a chance to visit Stonehenge not long before they started to rope it off due to the idiots spraying graffiti on it.
I’m honestly surprised there were that few present.
Our family was on vacation and saw Stonehenge at the Solstice in the mid 1970’s.
It wasn’t the big circus it is now, but there were still a few weirdos back then.
The women in paper dresses have been a family joke for 50 years.
At one time you could have visited the Georgia Guide Stones. That just had to be worse.

I’ve heard other people say that too. That it was a let down.
Sure is funny about those Guide stones. The debris and remaining rocks were removed within a few hours, and no suspects were ever found. And no real effort either. And no mention on the news to speak of.
It’s almost like they didn’t want anyone talking about what was written on them and hated the sudden attention.
Have you ever watched a 30ft diameter rock saw at work? Good Lord! It was mounted on a carriage like an overhead crane, cut a swath 1" wide and 1" deep each pass, and almost made no sound.
They need Jesus!
