Drowned land off Australia was an Aboriginal hotspot in last ice age, 4,000 stone artifacts reveal

An analysis of over 4,000 stone artifacts discovered on an island off northwestern Australia provides a snapshot of Aboriginal life tens of thousands of years ago...

The diverse artifacts found on the island also reveal intriguing insights about the movement of people between Australia's mainland and the island, especially during the peak of the last ice age, between 29,000 and 19,000 years ago, according to the study, which was published April 1 in the journal Quaternary Science Reviews.

At that time, sea levels were low enough to expose the continental shelf between Australia and what is now Barrow Island, a 78-square-mile (202 square kilometers) territory about 37 miles (60 km) off Australia's northwest coast. Thousands of years ago, it would have formed the high plateau of a vast, continuous plain spanning over 4,200 square miles (10,800 square km), Zeanah told Live Science.

Archaeologists already knew that people once lived on the island, thanks mainly to a trove of archaeological evidence left behind in rock shelters โ€” most famously, in one called Boodie Cave. But for the new research, the scientists looked beyond the island's caves to explore several open-air deposits scattered across Barrow Island.

We really need archaeology of Sundaland, and paleoanthropology, too.

Proof that earth’s climate changes. Also proof that there is no such thing as man made climate change. It is all a lie.

Ask your self is there one law, rule or regulation based on this lie that actually improves your life? Answer, NO!

They are doing everything they can to push civilization back to the stone age (except for themselves).

All of that flint knapping melted the polar ice caps and cut them
off from Barrow Island. A cautionary tale....

It was those coal fired power plants that the stone age folks were using that caused the ice age to end. Anyone that has seen the animated documentary series called "The Flintstones" knows that their cars weren't gasoline powered.

Must have been some big earthquakes in the past to sink all the land. The glaciers melting because the natives were driving around in their gas SUV’s and using a/c and coal etc.

The large glacial meltwater lake floods on continental masses caused rapid sealevel rises, and general cooling of the seas that took quite a while to be rectified by the Sun. It wound up being cooler, but rainier, as the fresher surface yielded more evaporation.

The slight rise of the continental surfaces due to the relief of the weight of the former glaciers led to isostatic rebound and quakes, which went on for centuries, and perhaps today.

The land under the Great Lakes are still rising long after the weight of the glaciers have melted away.
