various links and websites

At the request of members, I am restarting those "Tales from the Dark UnderBelly Of the Beast"-- the stories and issues that the press and media either ignore, won't even talk about, or will mention once and forevermore claim "it's old news..."
Naturally, some will be stories which interest me, or things I think we all need to be aware of.
I am experimenting with a minor change in presentation- when I can, I will cut to
-GoogleNewsBeta--
with a keyword or two and see what kind of links to "mainstream" stories I can find in contrast to what we see here and on other sites.
May I remind you of a couple of points to bear in mind?
Each link usually has many other links within- follow them all to get "the rest of the story."
Don't forget the "open multiple browsers" trick with control-n -- this allows you to hold your place with one, and use the others to follow links, run searches, etc.
Rather than go back and rehash old links, I'll give you links to the original posts here:
-DUBOB 10- the *best of* the Dark Underbelly Series--
-DUBOB 9-- even *more* tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast..... --
DUBOB 8-- still *more* tales from the Underbelly***
DUBOB 7-- even *more* tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast.....
DUBOB 6-- yet *more* tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast.....
DUBOB 5-- even *more* tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast.....
DUBOB IV- yet more Tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast-
DUBOB III -- "Tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast"
DUBOB 2-- more tales from The Dark Underbelly of the Beast-- thread II

[From a Democrat "talking points memo" sent out to Democrat members of the Senate Intelligence Committee and others in an effort to undermine the President during a time of war.]
Has the regular media found out about this memo yet?
Oh, they know about it. They just don't want anyone else to know about it.

"The great unwashed....do not care about our security. They only care about the handouts....and the dems give them their handouts, thus they will continue to vote dem. So only a few of us are worried about national security. Just a few."
As "champions of 'freedom of speech' and 'freedom of choice'", these leftists are showing blatant hypocrisy by demanding a ban on Hummer advertising and limiting a choice of what automoblie one can purchase.
"First, they haven't even attempted to limit spending. Second, Republican control of Congress gives them no excuse. "
Thankfully, most liberals are listening to Al Franken, Michael Moore, and Howard Dean.

I think GWB is generally trusted and liked by a majority of Americans, and I think 9-11 made more Americans inclined to like him, but I certainly don't see his connection being anywhere near the FDR level or the Reagan level. Maybe that's an unfair comparison, but FDR routinely won 400+ electoral votes. Reagan absolutely slaughtered the competition twice. Bush barely won last time, and a solid 35% or so wants nothing to do with him now. Times have changed ...
The guy is brilliant (and funny.... seen this?).

If you guys think you're not going to end up tarred and feathered like divorced fathers have been, you need to wake up, get organized and put some money into some legislators.

Sure takes a big, big man to hide in the shadows and say, "I'm gonna get you!"
The death tax was one of the main planks in the communist manifesto. Marx came up with the idea. This is all I need to know to oppose it.

This is what government regulations are doing to the economy. Their insatiable appetite for tax money to provide for everything under the sun is destroying Americas economy and eventually all businesses will locate off shore.

I just can't believe that the "gimme" generation cannot see how bad this will be for their children and grandchildren. Talk about mortgaging the future...
There is NO WAY a tax on internet access can raise billions unless it's so high no one would pay it.
"Driver carries only $20 in AMMUNITION".
I suppose we should be grateful that "human" life has great value even to the Lefties. The problem seems to be their unwillingness to allow the designation of "human" to anyone inconvenient....such as a foetus, or a woman in a coma.
I always believed the almighty dollar was king but I think it has met it's match. Progressing the liberal line of BS must be the most important thing. If that's not the explaination, what is? All these TV executives sit around and mouth-off about all the wrong reasons people have stopped watching their crappy networks.

Same story, second verse.
Either the Republicans put up or shut up - and see their majority in the Senate blow away. If the GOP won't bitch slap down the Democrats for their offenses against our Constitution and laws, the public may well conclude with friends like these we're better off with our enemies.

It's clear the Dems do not take this war seriously, and instead have chosen to politicize it for their own political gain. Instead of God, Country and then Party, for Dems their priorities are party over a country with no God. It's a sad platform. What's even more unfortunate is they have a media who has adopted this agenda as their own as well.

"Bush-hatred is just a form of cultural self-hatred."
If what has happened here is not treason, it is its first cousin. The ones responsible - be they staff or elected or both should be dealt with quickly and severely sending a lesson to all that this kind of action will not be tolerated, ignored or excused.

clintonism and the theology of contempt

Louisiana is about as corrupt as you will find right now there in New Orleans parish. There are tens of thousands of voters which come out of there which nobody can account for. Happens every time. You either have a landslide GOP victory, or a narrow GOP loss.
What these people don't realize is that if a person really needs a gun to fire and it doesn't, that person is apt to end up dead or at the very least severely injured. What would these people think of adding anti-vandal hardware to a fire extinguisher so it could only be deployed if there were an actual fire?

"How can I comment?" answered Mr. Prager. "I haven't watched TV news in 35 years. It relies too much on the visual. Most of what is important in the world is not on video."
I asked Mr. Metz if he watched Mr. Rather on TV. "I don't actually watch TV," he told me. "The Internet and talk radio are better sources of information."
I decided "liberal media bias" was far more harmful to liberals than conservatives.
I thought Lady Macbeth sounded absolutely horrible with her screechy voice. She has no control when she tries to project her voice. Maybe it is just the real Hilary coming out. I cannot imagine a worse candidate for their party.
They aren't alarmed enough to go for nuclear power or remove the most onerous enviro regs though are they?

townhall.com ^ | 11/17/03 | John Leo
--the new conservative media have “cohered to form a dazzlingly efficient ideology delivery system that swamps liberal efforts to get their ideas out.”
For some reason, when the population at large actually has access to some form of interactive media, the Left seems to have trouble persuading such people of the merits of its ideas. On a modestly level playing field, the ideas of the Left seem to fare poorly.
