Do conservatives even want to win? (Grab a bucket)
Yahoo! News / The Week ^ | March 25, 2013 | Joe Gandelman

Posted on 03/25/2013 6:52:01 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Karl Rove and Reince Priebus clearly do. And then there's Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin... Is it time to remake the old movie Death Wish — this time starring conservative Republicans who seem to think polls are wrong and that America really loves them and hates Barack Obama?

This is not a joke. Whether conservatives even want to win is a serious question in light of the reaction to the Republican National Committee's brutally honest "autopsy" on why the party lost the 2012 presidential election. The RNC concluded that the party should change such things as the number of primaries, its image among minority voters, its positions on immigration reform, its ground game — and become less "scary" to voters. It all amounts to this: At least look more moderate. But "moderate" remains one of the filthiest words in the Republican Party, and the feeling is kinda mutual: Moderates voted for Obama in droves.

Indeed, many conservatives are rejecting the RNC's tough-love report faster than Michele Bachmann running away from a reporter. And it makes you wonder: What are they thinking?

The GOP is divided into two factions symbolized by what New York's Dan Amira calls "the world's worst investor, Karl Rove, and the world's worst vice-presidential candidate, Sarah Palin." Rove, an establishment figure and Bush family stalwart, wants to win. Palin, darling of the Tea Party, the grassroots, and talk-show fans, wants purity — which she believes will bring victory.

It's déjà vu all over again: The Goldwater Republicans in 1964 and the McGovern Democrats in 1972. Both groups later tempered their rough edges and became more influential in their parties. But first they clung to extreme platforms far outside the mainstream of American politics. And they lost badly........

China’s labor costs will soon be higher than the US.

Bull.

If we gave away our manufacturing base to China for cheap labor, does a Chinese robot work cheaper than a US robot?

exactly
I see this on many threads even on here.
How they tell conservatives to shut up about life, how marriage is, what is best for a child what is going on with the media and schools.

I;ts those kind of RINOs which need to be slammed out and let conservatives like Sarah, Col West,Ryan Lee etc take this party to what it should be.
They;re all from differnet backgrounds, differnet areas, class race etc

The old elitist establishment like Peggy Noonan, M Hoover, Rove, Hume, Krauthammer, and the other snotty nosed elitist fools which ignore the base all the time need to get it into their heads and shut the hell up.

The likes of Sarah, Col West etc etc speak up and thta is why the elft attacks them so much and that is why if they had support we would not have this crap like this wek over marriage being forced onto us

evenon here some so called republicans ignore social issues because all they care about is their own pockets and their liberal pals

Either Sarah and others make a new party or this country has gone and time for a new country to set up based on the principles of the founding fathers not based on communism like homo marriage.
That also goes for the military and to hell with the likes of MA and other states telling us how to live, what to be taught, what marriage is etc

The news media lies and demonizes Republicans and demonizes Palin . we are living in a false reality ( the matrix) created by the liberal/socialist news media

When psuedoconservatives infesting the conservative websites are put in their place by the actual principled conservatives on those forums, we have a shot at making progress.

As long as they run wild and spread their GOP modeled BS unopposed, we get what we deserve because of our inaction.

just been on a thread where Paul is sonding off which sounds good but has no idea how to replace like the IRS etc.
The names of freepers there is very different to the usual freepers I see around and many I have not seen.

Even a couple of digs at conservarives off a couple of them

What I don;t get is how they come on ehre, come into tthis party and act like little children wanting all of us to change to suit them and then they stay silent on conservative issues until they find a thread which they agree on like their own pockets.

Either they are that thick and cannot graps that even the communists wanted certain laws passed which they want or they are wanting to infiltrate our party and pretend they are us because of their own ego’s and being said what a great person you are all their lives off mom and dad

The Chinese are not at the point where robots make a lot of sense. They have 2 billion people who’ll work for not much more than three hots and a cot.

Many are sent here and are dyed in the wool dems with an agenda. Some like being in the club or being seen as in the club. Others really are idiots that think that you really do move the country right by supporting leftist candidates.

It varies.

America 2013 certainly seems like some kind of dystopian sci-fi novel, in which everything has been turned upside-down... good is evil and evil is good... virtue is immoral and immorality is virtuous... a “matrix” comprised of big media, big government, and big business enforces the whole sick order, feeding false narratives (Palin stupid! Palin evil!) and keeping the drones in line. A mirror universe of what was once the greatest country and civilization to ever exist. Seems right out of some musty old science-fiction pulp magazine.

very good points, I;ve often wondered why these liberals and liberal tarians find sites lie this and pretend to be conservatives and then only post in threads which pertain to be fiscal or drugs being legal or even one saying once that age of consent should be done away like don;t ask and another who said who cares if you marry your dog or sister

the rules for communists back ion 63 stated they push homosexuality, infiltrate the parties and take the media over

Oh wait they have done that and for those liberal tarians which always use the bumper sticker of Govt out of it shoudl either wake up and know they are helping a communist agenda or piss off as their masks are slipping

In 1964 the Goldwater Republicans went head-to-head with the moderate NE Rockefeller Republicans. How can anyone attempt to compare the 1964 internal struggle in the GOP with the inept liberal Democrat implosion of 1972.

On the other, we continue to send American business to our biggest rising adversary.

WHY? Why are "we" in a place where regular Americans can only afford to buy things from China?

It isn't because of Democrats or Republicans. It's because of leviathan, boa constrictor GOVERNMENT. The reason Americans aren't manufacturing those things here is because government has essentially outlawed it.

A minority has frauded and cheated and methocically gripped control of government in the Democrat party over the decades. Americans on balance are moral, productive people and those who believe otherwise are by definition LOSERS. So the author of this piece begins as a loser.

Change starts at the ballot box -- and that starts by protecting the franchise with monitoring and ID checks. No more "early voting" and multiple voting, vote ginning, vote harvesting, vote bribing. The portrait that the MSM holds up to America is tilted way, way to the left. Most Americans -- especially most Americans who aren't dependent on government handouts for basic needs, which are the ONLY Americans who should be voting -- would rather the government get back in its cage.

The only way to bring back industry, the only way to lower gas and energy and food prices, the only way to increase prosperity and increase jobs, is to CUT GOVERNMENT and return freedom to individuals with minimum government oversight. Stop outlawing farming, and fishing, and food production, and oil drilling and manufacturing and employing teens. Stop making businesses go broke having to comply with some 100 percent wasteful code requirement and tax burden and paperwork. It's disgusting the amount of pure genius and joy that the government strangles in America.

Social conservatives, understand that your morality -- MY morality, a Christian morality, the foundation of our nation -- is best served by supporting the small l libertarian ethic: government OUT. Without the government, ours would be a much more moral nation -- it woudln't be perfect, but it would be freer, more prosperous, and more MORAL. Right now, American government is the primary source and nourisher of moral decay. Insidiously and evilly it has seized the crucial moral concept of charity, takes taxes to fund it, and taken it over to encourage sloth and envy. Moral decay via government because it claims the moral right to punish landlords, business owners and groups simply for refusing to do business with what they deem immoral, such as openly homosexual folks and those who escehew marriage. Government is feeder of moral decay, one thousand times more than pop culture and Hollywood and video games and social media -- the BIGGEST contributor is Government. Just giving it power at all, has made it so now people are forced to be accessories to murder in the form of tax-funded or subsidized abortion.

Social conservatives, understand why the great Thomas Sowell identifies with the libertarian ideal. Your best hedge against immoral forces is to push for LESS GOVERNMENT. This piece is Exhibit No. 1 as to why the Republican and Democrat parties are both the enemy.
