TERRI'S FIGHT
(Daily Thread 2 - October 30-31, 2003)
Link back to thread 1 - October 29, 2003

Contained in thread 1:

Summary of Terri's bone scan, transcript from "On the Record" response from Bobby Schindler and Attny. Pat Anderson to Michael Schiavo's appearance on Larry King Live, link to where to search public records for Pinellas County (for a fee), information on Terri's Lights, link to transcript from Larry King Live interview with Michael Schiavo and George Felos, synopsis of radio interview with Michael Schiavo's brother in Pennsylvania, summary of interview with Pat Anderson on Michael Reagan's show, portion of testimony from Schiavo medical malpractice trial, some links to information on the Florida death cult, names and email address for the Florida Supreme Court, information on previous GAL, Richard Pearse, Jr., information on GAL currently being proposed Jay Wolfson and links back to earlier threads on the case. Of course this overview isn't comprehensive, but my main point in this section is to provide easy reference to what could be important information. Also, links to other websites focusing on Terri's fight can be found in thread 1, here.

Thanks to everyone for your contributions and for your dedication to this fight.

This thread serves as a place for posting all new general information and references, along with links following Terri's case, plus information on cable news and talk radio shows dealing with the issue, court cases and press releases. This is also the place to post contact information, prayers and general discussion.

FL_Engineer suggested that if you have something that qualifies as BREAKING NEWS or FRONT PAGE NEWS, please post it on a separate thread in that category in order to give it maximum exposure and then post a link to the article/thread here so that it will be included in the next update of links. Also, if you post links to articles from original sources and there is also a thread on FR, please link to the FR thread. Many original links become corrupt over time and we want to be able to access the information at will.

From my personal observation, the Schindlers are not a bunch of liars

I was covering all the bases and tend to believe them, playing devil's advocate if you will.

Terri is just a case file to Judge Greer and he is legally blind.

I was thinking that last night. Caseload. That's all people are any more.

As wrong as "Republican" George W. Greer has been about Terri, he is bound to have been horribly wrong in many, many other cases too. No one could be so wrong about one case and handle other cases with perfection.

This man is out to lunch, or out jogging, or whatever he does. He is surely no jurist. Why though do Pinellas people seem to warm to him?

Well, Janet Reno was out in her pickup truck again and she was disturbed that Jeb Bush issued an Executive Order. How dare he, etc. The rule of law is more important than the right to life in Janet's world.

During the trial, attorneys for the Schiavos showed a film of a day in Mrs. Schiavo's life at Sabal Palms Nursing Home in Largo. Although she's in a vegetative state, said St. Petersburg lawyer Glenn Woodworth, "you can tell she has some sense of her predicament."
"It's a tragic case," Woodworth said. "She was on the threshold of her life. They were ready to start a family . . . (On the film) she knows her husband and looks into his eyes."

Doesn't this statement by Schlimo's lawyer directly contradict everything Schlimo and his new lawyer are saying today?

Yes, it does. We have an attorney who represented Michael at his big time $$$ stating contradictory statements. We have, in that same report, the writer saying Terri fell in the BATHROOM of their house (would you not love to see the court transcript? I would!) and on LKL we have Michael saying she fell in the hall and he went down (bending down or down some stairs? who knows) to get her. We have a heresay story the came from someone at a vigil that the ER personnel called the POLICE, suspecting foul play upon examining Terri (bet all indications were NO HEART ATTACK) and that when Mr Schindler was asked if he suspected foul play, that he said NO. (And he very may might have....he probably did not think Michael capable of it at the time)

Then we have the sealing of the medical records... the sealing of the medical records is very suspect to me.....why keep the family away from the MEDICAL RECORDS if everything is on the level?

Wish we could motivate the ER personnel and Carla Iyers to come forward right about now!

Sounds like maybe Greer has a thing about protecting the male in every case.

denied a protective order for a woman

Obviously protecting MS, favoring him over the right to protection for his wife.

Wonder if there is something in his past that has made him the ultimate female basher?

Check out this newest supporter of Terri!!!!

Good news - along with the ACLJ coming to Terri's support in the case about the constitutionality of Terri's Law, here is another one on our side !!

To: Friends of Family Research Council
From: Tony Perkins, President
October 30, 2003 - Thursday

Ken Connor to help Defend 'Terri's Law'

I'm very pleased to report to you today that former FRC president Ken Connor is now working on behalf of Terri Schiavo, the disabled Florida woman we've told you so much about these past few weeks.

Ken, who prior to his tenure as FRC president made a name for himself as a successful trial lawyer in Florida, has been tapped by Gov. Jeb Bush (R-FL) to assist in defending "Terri's Law," the bill Gov. Bush signed to force an end to Terri's court-ordered death by starvation. Terri's husband, Michael, is challenging the law, saying it does not comport with Florida's state constitution.

As reported in today's New York Times, Ken is more than able to counter such claims. Not only is he a former member of Florida's State Constitutional Revision Commission, but he is also a past president and chairman of Florida Right to Life. With Ken's passion for defending the sanctity of life and his proven legal talent, we can all be confident that Terri will be well-represented on her day in court.

Please join us in praying that God will bless Ken and his team with the wisdom and insight necessary to win this important legal battle.

Your entire post is well thought out...wonderful! Especially the last paragraph!!

When you were discussing her weight loss...part of what you posted said:

. Terri had lost nearly 80 pounds since her marriage and was going to a gyno for diagnosis/treatment of missed menstrual periods, both possible symptoms of an eating disorder.

Could such a weight loss also be tied to depression, anti-anxiety drugs, living with a critical ABUSIVE husband , who obviously deems perfection as extremely important ( and I think Felos has a problem in that area, too! Dispose of the damaged, donchaknow).

I thought the 6.8 million was the total award, which they decreased to 1.2 million because the jury felt that Terri was 70% responsible for her own condition.

Tonight at my women's Bible Study, I asked for prayer for Terri. One woman stiffened up and when I was explaining Terri's situation to those that did not know, this one gal told me that I don't have all the facts, that Terri is in a PVS state. I told her that all you had to do was look at the video being shown and see that she looks at her mother with recognition and love. She obviously watched CNN the other night and told me that it took up to 4 hours to get that shot. I was sad leaving that room.

I thank God that he protected Terri's organs during those days that she was off her feeding tube and I pray that he will keep her safe from those who think she should die.

Take heart. You spoke up for Terri! Maybe those who sided with Michael's CNN version won't be swayed, but you never know. God is putting Terri onto all our hearts, and he's watching how we behave. He knows the real scoop. Perhaps you are just the first in a series of events (well, second if you count CNN) where God will show those women how precious Terri's life is to Him. You did the right thing. It is sad, but we are fighting an uphill battle against an enemy who gained ground while we were sleeping. Now that we are awake, let us continue to call out to others about the peril that seems to be surrounding us. God is mightier than any evil. I believe that if we believe, God will vindicate Terri.

He did say that. But he sued Prudential just 3 months after Terri's collapse. See post 120 on this thread. That's why I'm pretty sure that Prudential was Terri's employer. You see how Michael likes to take one small piece of info and make it sound like something other than what it really is? This guy is the proverbial compulsive liar (MHO). The malpractice case was finished in Nov. 1992. He got the $ by Jan/Feb. 1993. DNR order by May 1993. What a loving and committed-to-his-marriage-vows husband (BARF)!

Thank you!

You bring up a good point. From all accounts, Terri was extremely self-conscious about her weight long before she met Michael. If Michael has an abusive, controlling personality (and I believe he does), Terri's weight would've been a huge weapon in his systematic campaign to devalue her.

Anecdotally, I knew a woman in a marriage that had some similarities to what we've read about Terri and Michael. She was of average weight, but her husband continually berated her about being fat and unattractive to him. When she'd try to lose weight to please him, he wouldn't acknowledge her weight loss until suddenly one day he'd bark, "You're too skinny! What happened to your a**! You have no a**!" Then she'd start gaining the weight back. Again, no comment, until suddenly "You're so fat! You don't care how you look to me!" During the last month of this marriage, as the wife was taking furtive steps towards getting a divorce, she became nearly unable to eat at all due to her depression. I watched her lose 30 pounds in one month with no intention on her part.

IF Terri did have a potassium imbalance, and IF it was caused from rapid, sustained weight loss, I wouldn't automatically ass/u/me she was bulimic, nor would I assume the potassium imbalance was the sole cause of her cardiac arrest.

Heavenly Father, we return to give You thanks that You are drawing so many more to Terri's side. We thank You that You are calling learned men, schooled in the law, with hearts so tender for life. How gracious You are, Father, that you continue to show us that each is precious to you, even when this nation has wiped away millions of the unborn. O God, would that we could bring back that reverence we once had .. forgive us, for we have grown callous. Let us not be that way again, but give us eyes to see as You see .. You, who knew each of us before the foundation of the world.

Father, we thank You for placing Terri before us .. thank You for the love of parents who refuse to relinquish their child to the pit of hell. By the Power of Your protection, Father, may nothing come near to harm this mother's child. You have sustained her when the world knew her not .. You have communed with her when the world spoke not .. You have been her comfort when the world walked away. By Your grace, Lord, may we redeem the time .. by petition, Lord, we seek Terri's release .. by prayer, Lord, we acknowledge that You are Sovereign.

May the plans of the enemy fall apart .. may the words that come from lying lips be transparent in deceit .. call the multitudes to hear, Father, and may the Spirit of Discernment fall upon the people. Reveal, I pray, the very presence of evil and stir up good people to rescue this child from the jaws of hell.

Heavenly Father, I pray that You will do a mighty work within the judicial system, for so often the courts fail the people and do not render justice. May the courts hear the cries of the people and may righteous rule prevail.

Whisper assurance to dear Terri, Lord .. may the time of her release be soon at hand. Vindicate this mother and father, and sister and brother ~ raise her up and put to flight those who would end her life. May they repent, while there is still time. Give renewed strength to Terri's legal team for they have contended with the forces of evil for so long. Thank You for these dear people ~ may Your richest blessings fall upon them in abundance, for they have been faithful to their task.

We rejoice in Your presence, dear Lord ~ for You are Creator God, King of Kings and Lord of Lords ~ and yet You are here in the midst of us. We worship and adore You, bowing down before you, Songs of praises singing, Hallelujahs ringing ~ Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Amen ...

>>"I race out there and Terri was laying in the hall. I went down to get her."

I'm confused. This makes it sound like she's at the bottom of the stairs. "I went DOWN..."
Yet here: http://www.thrownback.blogspot.com/ (scroll down a bit to Schindlers respond to Schiavo's LK) Terri's father says: "When Bobby arrived at their place...he found Terri lying face down in the hallway, with her feet over the threshold of the doorway, as though she had been coming out of the bedroom."
So does "I went down to get her" mean MS went down the hall? If she was half in the bedroom, where was he, sleeping in another bedroom? If she didn't fall down stairs, how did she get the bruises and fractures?

I just found this statement by Felos in an article. Doesn't it seem like Felos is just making this into a bigger and bigger can of worms? How could Michael possibly remember Terri's exact words so long after she said them, when he couldn't remember them when they were putting the feeding tube in? I'm sorry, I just don't buy this. If it were true then I guess Michael would just have to let Terri die if she ever got a broken ankle. I needed lots of help for two months when I broke mine last year. I couldn't take care of myself, and I depended on several people to care for me. If Felos actually uttered these words in a courtroom, it should have to have been thrown out just on the basis of being a ridiculous statement. He was overindulging himself. My opinion.

"Terri Schiavo didn't say, 'If I'm in a vegetative condition, I don't want to be kept alive artificially,'" Felos claimed. "She said, 'If I'm in a condition where I can't care for myself, I'm dependent on the care of others, I don't want to be kept alive artificially.'"

Yes, and "Republican" (or Democrat) judges like George W. Greer don't like their caseload judgments questioned, do they? These judges think in many cases that they have "godlike" qualities of "compassion" and "wisdom." And many Americans buy such nonsense, citing even "separation of powers" to justify such judicial chicanery.

This woman in the Bible study group must be a fraud, for she has a heart of stone, doesn't she? She does not want to be disproved in her prejudgment. Is she a woman of excessive pride, which the Bible says "goeth before destruction"? Imagine someone in a Bible study group not wanting to pray for the most vulnerable in society. Was she a Clintoid, or do you know her "politics"?

Even if she would be in a PVS, this does not preclude her from prayer! This woman could certainly join in prayer for wisdom and right judgment in this situation, and for Terri's spiritual well-being. Even in PVS, Terri's spirit lives on. Certainly Terri's family is in need of prayer support at this time. I also think the woman who "stiffened up" is in need of prayer as well, that she have an open mind and heart towards the needs of others. It will take continued courage for you to bring the needs of Terri, her family, and the disabled, to the attention of your Bible study for on-going prayer. Thank you for posting this.

"How I'd like an summary of the original medmal trial. And, there was no settlement, but a full jury trial."

Juries don't care about the facts. They see someone is injured, feel sorry for them and want them to get money.

We had a family who who's furnace blew up while dad was working on it. He died. Had both children near him while he was doing something he obviously didn't know how to do. Both were critically injured, the son died after years in a nursing home. Daughter with permanent injuries and scars.
The mother sued the GAS COMPANY and won millions of dollars. In NO way was it the gas company's fault.

As I said, juries sympathize with someone who is hurt and want the families to have money to help. They don't care what actually caused the injury.

The case that stuck in my mind was a man who used an agricultural insecticide to clean his home of roaches--it was my dance teacher and her mother that he killed with quick-moving cancer.

The bag had skull/crossbones all over it--DO NOT USE INDOORS. DEADLY.

Did he get jailed for homocide? No. He just got lots of money from the chemical company that produced the insecticide.

I don't see Woodworth on his list of partners, but he was with Fox in the original trial. Hmmm.

Has W never made partner, or was there some sort of conflict?

"See post #107 - The family doctor settled, the ob-gyn went to a jury."

Surely HIS insurance company didn't go out of business, too?

The 'down' does seem to refer to 'down the hall', with Michael coming out of the bedroom, to reach Terri 'down the hall' at the bathroom door ... according to MS, that is!

I am receiving emails from Lisa at Terrishope@aol.com. She is giving ALL she has to help in fighting for Terri's life. I asked her permission and am posting this info to you. PLEASE take time this morning and email the listed officals at the end of the post.

Hello My Friends and Earth Angels,

Today I spent some time talking with the Terri's family. And they have asked me to share with you their feelings. MIXED EMOTIONS is the best way to describe it I guess. They are "afraid" and I will get to that in a minute. Terri is getting her strength back and is almost back to the way she was "before they removed her feeding tube." She IS responding to the everyone in the family again, the way she did before. She looks good, she is full of color and very alert again. Thank you God!! And THANK YOU... ALL OF YOU GOOD & CARING PEOPLE, who have done everything in your power to SAVE Terri!!

Her family is now being allowed regular visits and you do not know how HAPPY they all are about this!! AND Michael's girlfriend's mother is no longer standing guard in the room!!! Only the assigned Police officer is in there and one outside, which is good, because this way "she is under protective care" and NO ONE can bring her harm!!! This is a good thing!

Okay now, the family is very "afraid" and concerend that Terri's Bill WILL be over turned and ruled unconstatutional. They are actually waiting for this to happen. :( I asked them , what can we do to help, to STOP this from happening? The only thing they know to tell us to do is to contact and put "all of our efforts towards Requesting a full investagation into Terri. The family has asked me to have us, focus on emailing, faxing and calling the Exective Director of Investagation at the FLDE, REQUESTING him to "investagate Michael Schiavo of alleged spousal abuse against Terri Schiavo and neglect as guardian."

In addition, we need to also request a formal investagation as to WHY State Attorney, Bernie McCabe or "anyone else" did not investate this case, but instead "IGNORED" all pertinate information pertaining to this case from the beginning" as well. All of the gentlemen below need to get your letters!!

So copy and paste their email address into one email, there's only a few email addy's below, so this won't be a bulk mail. However, feel free to send your written request for a formal investagation to anyone that YOU believe can help Terri! We NEED to do this ASAP. It is VERY IMPORTANT. "We need to bombard them with emails and faxes if possible and calls" ... Lets make a differance, you ALL KNOW WE CAN! The Schindlers asked today that when we get tired, please REMEMBER "We Are Terri's Voice!" God bless you and thank you all for being here for me, today and everyday before, but mostly for FIGHTING FOR TERRI'S LIFE! I love you one and all, Lisa

Wonder when, exactly, that underwriter went out of business. Was it directly after this trial, or much later?
