Free Republic Hall of Fame Threads
Free Republic ^ | Friday, November 28, 2003 | Free Republic

Posted on 11/28/2003 5:52:23 PM PST by Momaw Nadon

Since its inception, Free Republic has been the world's premeire online gathering place for the discussion of the news, issues, opinions, and just about everything else.

There have been several times when the members of Free Republic have posted important breaking news stories first, scooping the outlets of the mainstream media.

Some exemplary threads merit mention in what I'd like to call the Free Republic Hall of Fame Threads.

I believe this is a good way to remember and share some of the most important discussions that have occured on Free Republic.

Sauls was a Democrat. As opposed to the Florida Supreme Court RATS trying to steal the election for Algore.

I don't remember which county it was (there were so many!), but Sandy is a Zell Miller Democrat. A real good guy, and such a surprise to us!

I seem to remember the big 9/11 thread being much larger than 400+ posts....it's bumped every now and then. Did it get pulled?

The weirdest but funniest thread (in my opinion) was about hamsters. Barney Frank was mentioned and it took off from there. I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe.

I liked the prayer thread for Jim Torricelli's toupee.

James Trafficant? Bob Torricelli has a full head of hair, unfortunately.

My favorite has always been the 'Nation of Dumbies.' By thread 26 the other concedes:

"Oh well. Thanks, guys. Apparently the whole thread is screwed."

...yet the thread continues into the 500s. LOL

Also, there's this:

Okay, genious, but how do you spell "dumb"?

I'd have to vote for the thread about the "All your Senate are belong to us" prank on the eve of the 2002 elections. Some bright Freeper coded up some javascript that he then posted to DU. Any of the poor darlings who viewed that thread would then be surprised by a pop-up that said "All your Senate are belong to us!". It would only go away after you clicked the "okay" button several dozen times. This caused the poor leftists to panic, reboot their PCs, whimper about whether they were being surveilled by Ashcroft, and generally gnash their teeth and wail. Of course, the best of their whines were posted back here on the thread. That thread had me laughing so hard I had tears rolling down my cheeks. Funniest thing I ever read.
