HEADS UP: USS Reagan arrives San Diego 7/23; Nancy & Michael Reagan to attend 1st homecoming
KOGO Radio Website ^ | 7/15/04

Organizers have announced some of the plans for the welcoming into San Diego of the newest ship to homeport here, the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan on July 23rd.

A huge crowd is expected, including about 3,000 family members of the ship's crew and two very special guests, former First Lady Nancy Reagan and the late president's son, Michael Reagan.

U.S.S. Ronald Reagan host committee spokeswoman Faye Eason says the day's festivities will be capped off with a spectacular fireworks show.

As the hometown station for its arrival, Newsradio 600 KOGO is providing continuing live coverage, including weekly live call-ins from the ship by the Commanding Officer of the huge aircraft carrier, Captain Jim Symonds. Listen for his reports every Friday morning at 7:05am on Newsradio 600 KOGO.

KOGO will also provide special live reports from on board the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan on its final leg to San Diego in July.

On July 23rd, the day the new ship arrives in San Diego, Newsradio 600 KOGO will have live special day-long coverage from on board the ship and from various locations along San Diego Bay.

My tagline until the election:
A vote for Kerry-Edwards is a vote for Osama bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, Jacques Chirac, the UN, International Criminal Court, and Hollyweirdos.
Failure to vote, or a vote for a minority party, is a vote for Kerry-Edwards (unless you’re a liberal/Leftist who’ll vote Nader, a minority party, or stay home).

I heard an interview with KOGO's morning talk show host of Michael Reagan this morning. Michael said Ron Prescott Reagan is not attending the ship's homecoming. He said Ron P. has always been a Democrat or independent, and that Ron P. voted for Nader in 2000 (which means he's an extreme Leftist). Michael said if Ron want's to speak at the Democrat convention, it's up to him, but the only reason the Dems want him is because his name is Ron Reagan.

Michael also said he doesn't understand why Ron P. can't put aside his partisanship to attend the ship's first homecoming.

Michael said that he may be speaking at the Republican National Convention to honor his father, but asked the listeners to "stay tuned" for more info on that.

Doug, for some reason the photo you posted isn't showing up on my PC. I found a photo of the ship on Northrup Grumman's website and am posting it here for you:

I think Li'l Ron will not be attending the ceremony because his juxtaposition to the immense tribute to his father's even greater accomplishments will only serve to irritate Li'l Ronnie's little man complex.

I see both of ours.

I know — it's weird. Not the first time something like this has happened on my PC. But if I were to start a reply to one of the posters on the thread, copy in the URL of the photo you posted to the reply window, and hit the Preview button, it would show up. Then it doesn't show up on the thread. Strange. Oh well, sure doesn't hurt to have more than one photo of the ship out there. :-)

LOL! I was thinking Ron P. should stick to dog shows and leave politics to humans.....;)

And.....fair play to Michael Reagan if he speaks at the Republican National Convention...

I assume given the recent tradition of naming the recent Nimitz class carriers after presidents that Slick Willy will come up. I wonder how the officers and enlisted men will think about serving on a ship with Clinton's name on it.
