Organizers have announced some of the plans for the welcoming into San Diego of the newest ship to homeport here, the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan on July 23rd.
A huge crowd is expected, including about 3,000 family members of the ship's crew and two very special guests, former First Lady Nancy Reagan and the late president's son, Michael Reagan.
U.S.S. Ronald Reagan host committee spokeswoman Faye Eason says the day's festivities will be capped off with a spectacular fireworks show.
As the hometown station for its arrival, Newsradio 600 KOGO is providing continuing live coverage, including weekly live call-ins from the ship by the Commanding Officer of the huge aircraft carrier, Captain Jim Symonds. Listen for his reports every Friday morning at 7:05am on Newsradio 600 KOGO.
KOGO will also provide special live reports from on board the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan on its final leg to San Diego in July.
On July 23rd, the day the new ship arrives in San Diego, Newsradio 600 KOGO will have live special day-long coverage from on board the ship and from various locations along San Diego Bay.

My tagline until the election:
A vote for Kerry-Edwards is a vote for Osama bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, Jacques Chirac, the UN, International Criminal Court, and Hollyweirdos.
Failure to vote, or a vote for a minority party, is a vote for Kerry-Edwards (unless youre a liberal/Leftist wholl vote Nader, a minority party, or stay home).
Whoa, look at that stateroom!
Michael also said he doesn't understand why Ron P. can't put aside his partisanship to attend the ship's first homecoming.
Michael said that he may be speaking at the Republican National Convention to honor his father, but asked the listeners to "stay tuned" for more info on that.
Rank hath it's privileges.
Certainly won't be the same without Ron Jr.,
maybe the could reschedule the whole affair?
Should read " maybe they"
I think Li'l Ron will not be attending the ceremony because his juxtaposition to the immense tribute to his father's even greater accomplishments will only serve to irritate Li'l Ronnie's little man complex.
Hmmmm. I see both of ours.
Yeah, durn it! And I was SO looking forward to seeing his mug on my TV during the homecoming festivities. [wink]

Well, you could always switch to Animal Planet and watch his commentary during a dog show ... ;-)
Does anybody know what time it is due to arrive?
I know it's weird. Not the first time something like this has happened on my PC. But if I were to start a reply to one of the posters on the thread, copy in the URL of the photo you posted to the reply window, and hit the Preview button, it would show up. Then it doesn't show up on the thread. Strange. Oh well, sure doesn't hurt to have more than one photo of the ship out there. :-)
That's a GREAT photo!
And.....fair play to Michael Reagan if he speaks at the Republican National Convention...
I assume given the recent tradition of naming the recent Nimitz class carriers after presidents that Slick Willy will come up. I wonder how the officers and enlisted men will think about serving on a ship with Clinton's name on it.
Would someone that knows how to post an image please post this one for me?
It's great!
