Bump Lists to Become Keywords

I'm going to convert bump lists to keywords and discontinue that form of addressing. This will only affect you if you know what a bump list is. Thank you.

Update #1 within the hour pings to bump lists will fail to register. Tick tock...

Update #2 to add an article to the bump lists--which are now keywords--use the "Click to add keyword" link that lists below the text of each article. Enter the name of the bump list without spaces.

A list of those names can be found on the old bump list register.

Update #2.5 Oh, and, for better or worse, keywords are now global across all forums. For example, yesterday the moose keyword would have a different list of articles depending on which forum you were in--utter chaos. Today, moose lists all articles across all forums.

I am guessing , but I would bet he is trying to address a performance issue as the number of people on Free Republic continues to grow.....

Yes, getting reasonable access to the list of documents archived by the current scheme is a BIG deal to a lot of US!!!

Okay, I just tried to do a keyword search on "immigrant list". No such keyword.

Are bump lists (that is, the "group" pages) going to disappear? That's what I've just heard.

Well, keywords are spaceless. So, currently, if I should type "Gods, Graves, Glyphs" I'd get three separate keywords, but alpha'd, so they'd be "GLYPHS; GODS; GRAVES" give or take other keywords starting with G. If I type "ancient Egypt", it turns into "ANCIENTEGYPT". I've been adding a keyword "GGG" to various topics which may or may not be in the group page, but might be nice to be able to find again. Typically, Google works faster and better, because FR has no full text search, and no way to list all topics as alpha order (for example).
