The Dark Lord Soros

What is embodied George Soros is the morphed spirit of the philosopher Karl Popper, who fostered and defined a politico-economic theory called Open Society.


 

Billionaire and ideologue George Soros, who came out of disembodied obscurity to popular recognition by vowing to unseat President Bush, is the sort of evil whose very presence should turn our stomachs.  As in the Lord of the Rings, in which Sauron begins to manifest himself as his power is threatened, Soros has come out of hiding in order to amass his armies to stop the spread of capitalism.

Okay, so Im engaging in a little hyperbole.  But I believe the analogy, with America as a type of Middle Earth, is fitting.  Soros has been around for some time and has never been, or hosted, a disembodied spiritas far as I know!  What is embodied in him is the morphed spirit of the philosopher Karl Popper, who fostered and defined a politico-economic theory called "Open Society."  Soros has been in the process of redefining that theory and believes his version to be as close to truth as one can get.

Soros adaptation of Open Society is easily recognized if one utters the words from which individualistic-minded people everywhere tend to recoil:  One-World Government.  You're not likely to hear that coming out of his sorry mouth; instead you'll hear this:  "It is easier to identify the enemies of the open society than to give the concept a positive meaning."  In a frightening piece from a February 1997 issue of The Atlantic Monthly, Soros spins his vision as best as he is able (and he is very able indeed--a moron does not a billionaire make):

We start with the recognition of our own fallibility, which extends not only to our mental constructs but also to our institutions. What is imperfect can be improved, by a process of trial and error. The open society not only allows this process but actually encourages it, by insisting on freedom of expression and protecting dissent. The open society offers a vista of limitless progress. In this respect it has an affinity with the scientific method. But science has at its disposal objective criteria--namely the facts by which the process may be judged. Unfortunately, in human affairs the facts do not provide reliable criteria of truth, yet we need some generally agreed-upon standards by which the process of trial and error can be judged. All cultures and religions offer such standards; the open society cannot do without them. The innovation in an open society is that whereas most cultures and religions regard their own values as absolute, an open society, which is aware of many cultures and religions, must regard its own shared values as a matter of debate and choice.

 

"Open" here is cunningly used as a synonym for "free," but we are not talking about freedom at all.  Freedom of thought is a good thing, says Soros, as long as it is in the context of this worldwide system he is proposing, and freedom of religion is a lovely idea if religion remains an innocuous presence only.  By Soros' own words, it is easy to discover how secularism and world order are inseparable ideals.  Contrast this to the Founders' belief that freedom of thought can only exist in the context of liberty.  Freedom of religion is encouraged, not quelled, and is certainly not divorced from the process of self-governance.  The government cannot impel religious thought, of course, but it should never try to stop it either.
 
Soros further reveals the anti-theistic nature of his Open Society in another alarming paragraph:

The Declaration of Independence may be taken as a pretty good approximation of the principles of an open society, but instead of claiming that those principles are self-evident, we ought to say that they are consistent with our fallibility. Could the recognition of our imperfect understanding serve to establish the open society as a desirable form of social organization? I believe it could, although there are formidable difficulties in the way. We must promote a belief in our own fallibility to the status that we normally confer on a belief in ultimate truth. But if ultimate truth is not attainable, how can we accept our fallibility as ultimate truth?

 

These may be the most audacious remarks I have ever read.  Some of the greatest words of liberty ever penned must now be revamped?  Read between the lines:  The Dark Lord Soros wants to throw God out of his proposed earthly paradise.  The core theme of the Declaration --

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

 

-- cannot stand within an Open Society, because it is inherently spiritual.  "Self-evident" means that something is obvious within the soul to any rational human being.  We are still trying to actuate the remarkable thoughts of our Founders, and have gone through tribulation to get as far as we have got, but now the forces of Mordor (call them MoveOn.orc if you like) are on the rise.  The message is that we must embrace relativism, the contradictory notion that "nothing is true" is the only truth.  In Soros' words:  "[T]hat our understanding is imperfect & we must accept & as an article of faith."

Because I was a Cold War baby, raised in the Sixties and wary of the communist threat, I was happy and relieved to watch as President Reagan demolished the foundations of communism in the Eighties.  Since then, I have been perhaps too focused on the threat of its reemergence.  It is a very real threat, but I have neglected the stealthy rise of alternate paths to one-world government.  We must remember that utopian ideologies, which are all opposed to true individualism, are often at odds with each other.  Communism opposed Nazism during World War II, a fact that has fueled the false conclusion that one was far-left and the other far-right.  Both, in fact, arose from anti-theistic socialism, the core of leftist thought, and both were touted as paths to some type of utopian world order.

George Soros, adopting the anti-totalitarian view of Karl Popper, fought against both communism and Nazism.  Now, with no competing insidious opponents left, he turns his attention to a more subtle and dogged enemy, capitalism:

Although I have made a fortune in the financial markets, I now fear that the untrammeled intensification of laissez-faire capitalism and the spread of market values into all areas of life is endangering our open and democratic society. The main enemy of the open society, I believe, is no longer the communist but the capitalist threat.

 

How convenient for him, to use capitalism for his own ends, and, once achieved, oppose similar opportunity for others!  But this is all very subversive.  Open Society is the latest version of the utopian dream, and this time it has a democratic face.  It is, in fact, the natural progression of the "progressive" party, which embraces democratic socialism, i.e., democracy within a socialistic framework.  This can only lead to global welfare and statist control, a system that is openly hostile to laissez-faire capitalism, to religious truth, and to any attempt to find freedom outside the boundaries of the state.  In such an environment, individualism is necessarily suspect; says Soros:

I contend that an open society may also be threatened from the opposite direction--from excessive individualism. Too much competition and too little cooperation can cause intolerable inequities and instability.

 

Are we seeing signs of this push toward one-world government today?  How about the gospel-like assumption that we must not act to defend our land except under the aegis of the U.N.?  How about the cries of foul against our refusal to accept the juris-impudence of the International Court?  How about Kyoto as a doctrine?  How about the anarchistic protests against open global trade?

George Soros views George Bush as the enemy, and there is some speculation that Soros is planning a financial coup to panic the market at election time.  This seems unlikely, but it all depends on how much hatred he has for Bush, a hatred that is largely a mystery to the tradition-loving people who live in Bush Country.  Conservatives everywhere disagree with Bush on many points, including the continued growth of the government, a trend in Congress that Bush has so far refused to curb, and his position on immigration, to name only two; but none of his weaknesses warrant the sort of hatred being spewed from the peaks of Mordor.  How can it be explained?

It is very simple, really.  George Bush, by his present role and his uncompromising ideals, embodies the self-evident truths that people like Soros despise:  capitalism, religious freedom, and the belief that the truth can be realized and acted upon--all mainstays of individualistic liberty.

The battle for Middle Earth is not yet upon us, folks, but let's not be fooled:  a storm is brewing.

The Bush Doctine is built on two pillars, one -- that the United States must maintain its absolute military superiority in every part of the world, and second -- that the United States has the right for preemptive action.

Now, both these propositions, taken on their own, are quite valid propositions, but if you put them together, they establish two kinds of sovereignty in the world, the sovereignty of the United States, which is inviolate, not subject to any international constraints, and the rest of the world, which is subject to the Bush Doctrine.

To me, it is reminiscent to [sic] George Orwell's "Animal Farm," that "All animals are created equal, but some animals are more equal than others."

eorge Soros could not have more clearly enunciated the lethal danger that he and John Kerry and the clintons and the rest of his leftist cabal pose for America.

Yesterday, at the "progressive," i.e., ultra-extremist left-wing liberal, "Take Back America" confab, Mr. Soros confirmed the obvious: 9/11 was dispositive for the Dems; that is, 9/11 accelerated what eight years of the clintons had set into motion, namely, the demise of a Democratic party that is increasingly irrelevant, unflinchingly corrupt, unwaveringly self-serving, chronically moribund and above all, lethally, seditiously dangerous.

"All animals are created equal, but some animals are more equal than others."

Apparently missing the irony, George Soros chastised America with these words even as he was trying his $25,000,000, 527-end-run damnedest to render himself "more equal than others" in order to foist his radical, paranoic, deadly dementia on an entire nation.

"Animal Farm" is George Orwell's satirical allegory of the Russian Revolution; but it could just as easily be the story of the Democratic Party of today, with the

Kennedy-Pelosi-Gore-clinton (either--"one for the price of two," I say) -Sulzberger-Soros-Moore construct

its porcine manifestation.

SOROS TSURIS

Soros' little speech reveals everything we need to know about the Left, to wit:

  • its naivete about the War on Terror,

  • its preference for demagoguery over rational argument, and ideology and reacquisition of power over national security,

  • its mindset, which is inextricably bound to its failed, tortuous, reckless schemes, relics of a different time, a different war and a different enemy.

Soros is correct when he states that each of the two pillars of the Bush Doctine--the United States maintenance of absolute military superiority and the United States right of preemptive action--are "valid propositions" [in a post-9/11 world].

But when he proceeds from there to argue that the validity of each of these two [essential] pillars is somehow nullified by the resultant unequalled power that these two pillars, when taken together, vest in the United States, rational thought and national-security primacy give way to dogmatic Leftist neo-neoliberal ideology.

 

What is, in fact, "inviolate" here is the neo-neoliberal doctrine of U.S. sovereignty, which states simply that there must be none, that we must yield our sovereignty to the United Nations. Because this Leftist tenet is inviolate, and because it is the antithesis of the concept of U.S. sovereignty enunciated by the Bush Doctrine and the concept of U.S. sovereignty required by the War on Terror, rabid Leftists like Soros conclude that we must trash the latter two inconvenient concepts--even if critical to the survival of our country.

It is precisely here where Soros and the Left fail utterly to understand the War on Terror. They cannot see beyond their own ideology and lust for power. They have become a danger to this country no less lethal than the terrorists they aid and abet.

 

I think this administration has the right strategic vision and has taken many of the steps needed to get that long-term strategy rolling.

Where I give them the failing grade is in explaining that vision to the American public and the world. Key example: this White House enshrines preemptive war in the latest National Security Strategy and that scares the hell out of a lot of Americans, not to mention our allies. Why? This administration fails to distinguish sufficiently under what conditions that strategy makes reasonable sense.

My point is this: when you are explicit about the world being divided into globalization's Core and Gap, you can distinguish between the different security rule sets at work in each.

Nothing has changed about strategic deterrence or the concept of mutual-assured destruction (or MAD) within the Core, so fears about preemptive wars triggering World War III are misplaced.

When this administration talks about preemption, they're talking strictly about the Gap - not the Core. The strategic stability that defines the Core is not altered one whit by this new strategy, because preemption is all about striking first against actors or states you believe - quite reasonably - are undeterrable in the normal sense.

President Bush got one thing right: the greatest threat to American security is a rogue state providing a terrorist group with weapons of mass destruction and the means to deploy them to the United States. Unfortunately, almost everything he has done since Sept. 11 has made this problem worse rather than better. While some progress has been made on cooperation on intelligence and money laundering, the Administration has taken giant steps away from its initial post-9/11 strategy which involved working collaboratively through the United Nations.


This sorry record is clear not only in Afghanistan, which stands on the brink of chaosand in North Korea, which moves ever closer to developing nuclear weapons; and in Iraq but also in the United States. NOTE- Ethical equivalency


While John Ashcroft’s Department of Justice focuses on acquiring more power to conduct surveillance, every outside group that has studied this problem agrees that the key problem is the culture of the FBI and the CIA and that we need to strengthen border protections and key facilities —starting with the inspection of incoming cargoes for radioactive material. Little if any progress toward those goals has been made, and America is less safe for it today. NOTE- Kerry campaign echo


New institutions with their own career services and raisons d’être might work better than shifting around the same old structures. This is why the Air Force and the CIA came into being during the Cold War, and why the Special Forces Command was created by Congress in 1987. Urgently needed today are institutions to combat international terrorism at home and abroad and to deal with the problems that follow a military intervention in a failed state such as Iraq.


We need a new agency that has both law-enforcement and intelligence functions at home and abroad, but whose jurisdiction is limited to dealing with international terrorist groups targeting Americans. When dealing with such terrorists, there is no meaningful distinction between intelligence and law enforcement, as Al-Qaeda and other such groups operate within a complex and well-financed global network. Such a U.S. agency would indict potential terrorists as criminals and prevent terrorist acts.


At the same time, America also needs a new agency for nation building. In Iraq—as in Bosnia, Kosovo, Haiti and East Timor—the collapse of the existing authority created an immediate need for an international police force to provide stability and to help create an indigenous police force and criminal-justice system. The United States inevitably relies on its military to perform these tasks for which it has no training and capability; it does it reluctantly and poorly and comes away more reluctance than ever to intervene in similar situations.


A new civilian agency reporting to the Secretary of State should be explicitly charged with this set of tasks, endowed with the necessary resources and mandated to plan as intensively as the military before our military intervenes. It would be critical to create a robust, standby police capability with a small, permanent staff and a larger number of reservists who, like those in the military reserves and National Guard, would train on weekends and over the summer and be sent abroad in times of crisis to carry out police functions.


In addition to creating these two new agencies, the U.S. needs to work with other nations to invigorate an international regime designed to deter states from developing weapons of mass destruction and providing them to terrorist groups. This regime must be global, and the rules must apply to all nations, not simply those the United States designates as rogue or “evil.” Note the sense of equivalency as the US is lumped into the mix


The United States must recognize that it needs the cooperation of the rest of the world to bring rogue states back into the community of nations, to help failed states mend so that they do not become havens for terrorists, and to build a more open and just world so that states do not become breeding grounds for terrorism. This begins by accepting that the UN Security Council must have the lead role in helping Iraqis to regain control of their own country, NOTE- the corrupt body, OFF program>by working cooperatively with other states to find solutions to security problems, and by assisting nations that are on the path to democracy.


None of this argument is based on altruism. It is a straightforward claim that the administration’s policies to date have failed to make us safer, and that a new approach is needed to prevent rogue states from sharing weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery with terrorists who would wish us harm.

It would be interesting to know what links Soros has to the current hedge funds and speculators who are driving up the price of gas .... JUST BEFORE THE ELECTION ...

I would also be very interested to know just who was shorting airline stock right before 911...the few comments on that that I've seen have mentioned the Saudis.

George Soros Directs "Like Father Like Son"

That reminds me of something.

I came across some references to Soros' own father, who was one of the early proponents of Esperanto, which was to be a global language at one point.

Interesting that the apple didn't fall far from the tree. Soros in pushing for a global society and tearing down the US, is carrying on the idea of his father who worked toward breaking down a unique characteristic of countries, which is their language.

Meaning of the two names - Schwartz (Svarc) and Soros - has nothing to do with each other. Schwartz means "black" in German and Yiddish; Soros (pronounced Shorosh) means "beer brewer" in Hungarian.

You can call me insufficiently intellectual, but I do believe in the following conspiracy theory about Soros: as was the case with a lot of Eastern European fugitives from communism, Soros family were actually a KGB sleepers sent to the West. The seed capital Soros needed to make his fortune was also provided by the KGB.

It's ludicrous to say that Soros fought both against Nazism and communism. To be against capitalism is to be for communism, it's as simple as that. And he's too young to be a participant in the fight against Nazism.

His Open Society idea uses Karl Popper's theory only as a disguise for purely Marxist dogma (see his fixation on "scientific" determinism of historical development).

As all communist (collectivist) leaders without exception he preaches the vice of capitalism but shamelessly enjoys everything his "filthy money" can buy. In 1989 if the memory serves, I was among several hundred guests to George Soros' birthday party in Budapest: all of us, poor Eastern Europeans, were provided with round trip to Hungary, accommodation in a smart hotel, unlimited food and drinks, and a stage show of a postmodern play, just for one night fetched from London.

Do I need to add that the intellectuals immediately rushed in a ruthless brawl for his favours... quite like they competed for the good graces of their Communist Party bosses before that?

Your theory assumes philosophical consistency, which I'm not certain is the case with Soros. (I see Soros as an amoral opportunist with megalomaniacal tendencies.) While communist leaders typically enjoy the fruits of capitalism, do they also immerse themselves in the capitalistic process?

How did you get the invite?

Soros has put millions into the dem voter-fraud (euphemistically dubbed 'get out the vote') effort

The dems' goal is to commit enough voter fraud to make the election appear not close enough to challenge.

This scheme relies on George Bush's good character, i.e., the dems are assuming that if the election results seem outside the typical vote-fraud margin, Bush, for the good of the country, will not challenge the results.

Bush must not fall into this trap. FOR THE GOOD OF THE COUNTRY.

His childhood coincided with the rise of the Nazi threat.

I suspect he was traumatized by it; and his worldview today remains distorted by it.

I believe his effort to dislodge Bush, obsessive and paranoic by any measure, is motivated ultimately by that trauma. I believe Soros sees Bush as Hitlerian.

It is no accident that his prize 527, moveon.org displayed that infamous Bush-Hitler morph ad.

The "Open Society Prize" Awarding Ceremony: The first winner of the Prize, Sir Karl Popper is decorated by George Soros who delivers a short address on the occasion. Sir Karl was by the 92 years of age and would die several months later.

“It was while pursuing a Masters degree at LSE that George Soros first came into close contact with Popper and his ideas. While he did not study directly under the philosopher, Soros submitted several essays to Popper for his consideration and review. Many of these "pomosophers" ["pomo" = post modern + "sophos" = wise] are business people and popstars with nagging conscious', who like to surround themselves with a host of intellectuals and artists in order to satisfy their vanity and make themselves feel intellectually important.

In Europe, for instance, a like counterpart to Soros is Burda, who incidentally has close personal ties with Stoiber, the right-wing premier of Bavaria. Thus, even pomosophers can be dichotomized between left and right variants: in this case, Soros supports the pomo left; Burda, the pomo right.

What the old fool, George Soros, is too stupid to realize is how the $25 to $30 million he has pumped into the economy via 527s has helped the George Bush economy. The economy is up!

Certainly $25 to $30 million extra has stimulated the economy. When you look at the whole picture, all his money has backfired as people tend to vote the economy. Like Clinton said, it is the economy, stupid.
